Chapter 478: Sharing

Leaving the volcano, returning to the forest.

For ordinary people, the danger level of the Whale Island forest is quite high, but for Luo, there is zero threat.

After descending the mountain, Luo and the black cat arrived at the largest lake in the forest.

As soon as they arrived, numerous watchful eyes turned towards Luo and the black cat. These were the animals gathered at the lakeside.

The lake was covered with many floating plants, and the variety of plants around the lake was abundant and peculiar.

Luo took out a fishing rod and looked at the black cat. Without needing instructions, the black cat jumped over and hooked the bait.

Unclear what level of ingredient the Swamp King was, the black cat was very interested and eagerly cooperative to satisfy its hunger.

Before Luo could cast the rod, the black cat leaped into the lake, splashing water everywhere, and dove in, searching for the Swamp King.

Luo sat down casually on the ground, watching the gradually calming lake.

After about four or five minutes, the fishing line tightened, and a force transmitted from the other end of the line.

Seeing this, Luo infused a bit of Nen into the rod and line, then exerted a little force to pull the black cat and its prey out of the lake, throwing them directly onto the shore.

The Swamp King landed on the shore, thrashing wildly like a carp.

The black cat did not kill the Swamp King directly, preserving a bit of its freshness. It landed beside the Swamp King and quickly got up, watching its catch.

Luo put down the rod and approached the lively Swamp King.

It was as big as a shark, with several dorsal fins of varying sizes, totaling five.

There were several pairs of hooked limbs underneath, and it had few scales, only on the belly, while the rest of the body was covered in a layer of carapace.

The Swamp King was blue-green all over, and its unattractive appearance was somewhat off-putting.

Luo didn't let the Swamp King continue thrashing, condensing a marble-sized Nen bullet, flicking it into the Swamp King's head, and instantly calming its body.

He walked a few steps to the side of the dead Swamp King and touched it, and the white smoke font immediately provided information about the Swamp King.

"C-grade."

Luo was a bit disappointed; C-grade ingredients were of no use to him. At least B-grade ingredients were needed for even a slight improvement.

The Swamp King's ugly appearance already dampened his appetite, and the fact it was C-grade made him lose interest entirely.

"Hurry, I want beggar's fish!"

The black cat paced back and forth, its foodie nature emerging, becoming a bit impatient.

Seeing the eager black cat, Luo swallowed the words about eating sashimi and decided to treat it, considering the black cat had had a rough day.

With that thought, Luo began to prepare the Swamp King without another word.

He cleaned, dismembered, and de-shelled it, taking out the tenderest parts.

Using Nen, he perfectly infused the seasoning into the fish meat, found some nearby wild fruits for all the additional ingredients, and then wrapped it all in a giant lotus leaf before digging a pit to start a fire.

To speed up the burning of the wood in the pit, Luo expanded his domain, squeezing out oxygen and injecting it into the fire, causing the flames to roar instantly.

In no time, the wood burned out. Luo placed the lotus leaf-wrapped fish meat into the pit, covered it with soil, and waited for fifteen minutes before digging out the steaming lotus leaf bundle.

The black cat drooled at the sight of the charred lotus leaf bundle.

Luo placed the millstone-sized lotus leaf bundle on the ground and began to peel it layer by layer like an onion. The fragrance intensified, spreading in all directions.

When he peeled to the last layer, the tender white fish meat lay atop a pile of wild fruits, with clear juice seeping from beneath.

There were no fish heads, hooked limbs, or carapace, just pure fish meat paired with the fruity aroma, reviving Luo's previously lost appetite.

The black cat couldn't wait any longer and pounced, only to be swatted away by Luo.

"No manners."

Luo raised a finger, cut a small piece for himself, and tasted it. The texture was tender, the flavor surprisingly good, rivaling even B-grade ingredients, almost reaching A-grade.

After swallowing a few bites of the fish, Luo couldn't help but cut another piece and chew.

At this moment, the black cat charged over, looking angry.

Luo glanced at it, divided the fish meat on the lotus leaf in half, and said, "As usual, half each."

The black cat didn't say anything, grabbed half of the fish meat, and started gobbling it down, a satisfied whimper emanating from it.

Compared to the black cat's wolfing down, Luo ate a bit and then stopped, wrapping the lotus leaf back up.

Seeing Luo's actions, the black cat stuffed the remaining fish meat into its mouth, chewed quickly, swallowed in one go, and asked, "For that kid?"

"Yeah."

Luo responded, picked up the fish meat and fishing rod, and headed towards the village on Whale Island.

The black cat followed, saying, "You're really generous when it comes to people and things."

"The true meaning of food is sharing." Luo glanced at the black cat.

"Tch." The black cat retorted, "I've never seen you be generous with me."

"Really?" Luo asked back.

"Have you?" The black cat glared.

Luo thought for a moment, then cut a ping pong ball-sized piece of fish meat from the lotus leaf bundle and tossed it to the black cat.

The black cat caught the tiny piece of fish meat, its face twitching.

It hesitated for a moment, considering throwing the fish meat back with a heroic "I won't eat charity," but quickly reconsidered, thinking that even a mosquito's leg is meat, and stuffed the fish into its mouth.

"How generous." It said sarcastically after swallowing the fish.

"Thank you for the compliment." Luo replied modestly.

One person and one cat soon exited the forest and entered the village in the field.

Luo stood beside a signpost, waiting for Gon.

Twenty minutes later, a figure ran towards the signpost from afar. It was Gon.

He sprinted all the way, arriving in front of Luo, panting heavily.

"Here."

Luo handed Gon the still-warm lotus leaf bundle.

Gon took it, sniffed it slightly, and exclaimed, "Smells so good, what is it?"

"My special fish, take it back for dinner." Luo said.

"Thanks, boss." Gon blinked, saliva quietly dripping from the corner of his mouth, his stomach already conquered by a grilled fish from Luo.

"Go back, or Mito will scold you again." Luo patted Gon's head.

Gon looked back towards home, then glanced at the distant forest, showing a hint of reluctance, and hesitated, "Then I'll go back."

"Yeah, I'll teach you fishing in a couple of days." Luo smiled.

Gon's eyes lit up, happily saying, "It's a deal!"

As the sun set and night fell, Gon placed the fish Luo had given him on the table, attracting the attention of Mito and Bertha.

Bertha was Mito and Ging's grandmother, Gon's great-grandmother.

"What's this?"

Mito set the tableware and stared at the basin-sized lotus leaf bundle, smelling the delightful fragrance.

"Delicious fish!" Gon replied.

Mito frowned, "Who gave it to you?"

Knowing Gon well, Mito knew it couldn't be his doing.

Gon hesitated for a moment, under Mito's intense gaze, and whispered, "Boss Luo."

Mito heard this and said sternly, "The one who took you to the forest?"

Gon, like a child caught doing something wrong, lowered his head and didn't dare to speak.

Seeing Gon's silence, Mito picked up the lotus leaf bundle, about to throw it into the trash outside.

At this moment, Bertha stopped Mito, saying, "It smells really good, obviously made with care. How can we waste it?"

"Maybe it's poisoned." Mito threatened.

Bertha felt helpless, shaking her head, and took the lotus leaf bundle from Mito, placing it back on the table.

Gon quietly lifted his head, seeing his great-grandmother put the fish back, heaved a sigh of relief, and cautiously looked at Mito.

Bertha uncovered the lotus leaf, releasing the full fragrance, filling the room.

Smelling the tempting aroma, a strange look flashed in Mito's eyes.

Bertha picked up chopsticks, grabbed a warm piece of fish, and put it in her mouth to chew, her slightly drooping eyelids slowly lifting, and the wrinkles on her face seemed to soften a bit.

"Mito, try it."

Mito looked at Bertha's expression, wondering if it was really that good.

She also picked up chopsticks, grabbed a piece, and put it in her mouth, stunned for a moment.

Super delicious!

She couldn't help but take another piece, the slightly sour fruit flavor and unknown spices perfectly blended, transmitted through the tender fish meat to the tongue.

Although she had eaten many types of fish, she had never tasted anything this good.

The quality of the fish itself was solid, but the cooking technique was the key to this delicacy.

Seeing Mito and Bertha's reactions, Gon thought maybe if he brought Boss Luo over next time, Mito wouldn't chase him with a kitchen knife?

At this moment, Luo was in the forest, drinking mushroom soup, unaware that

the beggar's fish he gave to Gon had conquered Mito's stomach.
