In 2005, John Cena was a recent United States Champion, fully embracing the "Doctor of Thuganomics" character at the time, when he was cast in his first movie.

This movie was "The Marine", and it took advantage of NONE of Cena's out-sized personality or natural sense of humor, instead casting him as Marine who is kicked out of the Marines for Marining too hard. While trying to re-adjust to civilian life, he and his wife are in the wrong place at the wrong time when a gang of jewel thieves on the run from the cops kidnap John Cena's wife and blow up John Cena.

(John Cena gets blown up at least 5 times in this movie.)

This movie is bad, and dumb, and full of explosions and bad writing and Australian actors playing Americans. But IS. IT. CINEMA???

Accurate description and yet still arguably the best of the franchise

At least we got Robert Patrick playing the main villain.

2006 :) I remember this and See No Evil being hyped SO MUCH on TV.

I didn't think it was that bad when I saw it. Not going to rewatch it. But I've seen far worse in general.
