Welcome to Select Answers, a short feature that provides some of the answers to questions that were posed to Sean Ross Sapp in the most recent Fightful Weekly Q&A Podcast. The show drops every week on Fightful Select for subscribers.

How would you fix the Death Riders storyline? It’s gone downhill very quickly.

I would end it. It's not working, in my opinion. I don't think you should stretch this out another five months to coronate Darby. If something HAD to be done, I'd bring in Beth Phoenix to help neutralize Marina. I'd have Death Riders get numbers on Rated FTR, and Copeland reach out to Christian to help. Why? Because he's the only person he sees as being more diabolical than Moxley, but at least he knows him. Why would Christian do that? Because Death Riders will never let him cash in otherwise.

I seen it reported press was handed media scrum questions to ask. Please end this Twitter conspiracy that is spreading

There has never been a single situation, presser, scrum, conference or anything of the like where I've been handed a question to ask. I can't speak for anyone else, but I know a lot of people in every press room and wasn't told that.

When do you think we'll see Kenny Omega again in AEW?

I'd imagine shortly after Wrestle Dynasty. I don't expect him to be on this week's Dynamite, as he was supposed to travel to Japan on January 1. Maybe January 15? That's just an estimate

I think that's a good idea with Copeland. I guess the rumour was Moxley said he'd quit if they didn't do this and it didn't work out. Also having it main event a stellar pay per view probably didn't help. Hell, Kyle Fletcher would be a better heel to put the belt on.

Hi Sean, With there being a significant crossover between the G1 and AEW's build up to Forbidden Door, have you heard anything about AEW relying on it's other partnerships (RevPro,CMLL,ROH) to make up most of the card or will NJPW try to manipulate the schedule to run both concurrently?

Josh Hall

The stakes were never big enough for the Death Riders. A takeover angle with no attempt to takeover is never going to work. All of their interference and shenanigans also run completely counter to everything they claim to be working towards. Just end it, strap up Christian and have Darby take it from him immediately so we can end that contract angle too, because its also trash.

I must be the only person who likes the death riders storyline

The problem with the Death Riders is it has literally gone nowhere... thry were alluding to a higher power of sorts pulling the strings, but then just dropped that... there's been no headway on how they got Wheeler on their side again, of why Pac even bought in to begin with... they need to explain some things in order to move forward... I wouldn't completely kill it, but it needs to progress...

Jesse G

I liked it when it first started but it's been weeks of the same promo over and over again. At some point things need to progress.

Jules Mac

I use logic for everything. I doubt he would threaten to quit over a story. I've read his book, that's not who he is. It's not for everyone, I think he's doing a great job.

I'm loving the Dearh Riders storyline honestly. Would hate to see them end it.

Dylan Thomas

I respect this take but I like that they’re holding the company “hostage” even if it makes the shows less eventful. It will make it the straight dope when they finally lose their footing. I used to hate how WWE would draw out storylines but edging the audience to a massive crescendo ultimately makes for very memorable moments and I wish AEW would go against their instincts a bit sometimes and let something become foundational to the company’s culture before tearing it down.

I don’t mind death riders but I don’t think the world title should be with them first max stream people could be watching for first time and not seeing the title

Some random posting something on Twitter makes it hardly a reliable source to be citing.

Andrew MacDonald

I kinda don't want to say who started that rumour in case they end up getting a ton of shit for it.

Josh Howard

But are they really holding the company hostage? Tony is still very much in charge and seems to just ignore what they're doing. None of the other titles are in danger of being taken away and held up. These hostile takeover angles only work if there seems to be real stakes. Whenever "Team AEW" comes out to save whoever they're beating up on (which seems to chiefly be Darby, Hangman, Conglomeration members, or FTR) it's the same lower card faces every time. People try to compare this to the nWo but I remember them disrupting cruiserweight matches, derailing episodes and taking over commentary, and generally causing chaos and goading any top babyface to catch hands. The only "hostage" DR is holding is the men's world title. They don't seem to have a real mission plan other than to repeat the same promo and beat up the same people over and over.

I read it on JDfromyonkers twitter he is hardly a random. No matter what you think of the 3’ft podcaster

To answer the question about Kenny Omega, he will be on dynamite next Wednesday
