Bit of a process breakdown for a commission that's taking a bit, since i haven't done it in a while. I am doing a commission for a statcard/badge after a long time of not doing so with improved knowledge and tools! included are the current WIP of each step in the process, although it is still ongoing. Luckily this file is super well organized so I can release the project once it's done for those interested to learn from.
- The idea was a torso framed shot of a dark-fantasy take on the client's dragon oc as a gunslinger. Themes for mesquite/cowboy aesthetic were added to the normal dark fantasy themes to give a unique look. The clothes have cutouts for the neon markings on the character to shine through. The bullet has since also been modeled in 3d with the groundwork for 'bullet magic' added (little swirling bullet arcs and trails in the vfx, hopefully this is replicable with a particle system)
- as the project continued, some elements required reworking (aka the gun perspective and the face) to better work with the angle. I tend to redraw pieces quite frequently to get them in a good spot.
- right now the project is being animated to render at a QHD lock screen of 2k resolution at 60fps, although I might knock that down a bit on the framerate depending on how it looks. Hopefully this turns out well!
these are a ton of work, so I might not offer these again unless specified, but I think this one might be one of the best. Followup to come later.
