We just concluded the final days of The Last Days of Solomon, and so I've been unreasonably busy with all of that. The players killed two of the three demon princes, and are in the process of escaping Solomon before the city is destroyed by the black Moat which surrounds it. Hopefully for them there's a world on the other side to escape to! Also, I'm zooming into the last few weeks of my term, which means there's a lot of schoolwork I need to do. However, because of all that, there's been very little else I've been able to work on (unless you're interested in seeing a list of sources for hermaphrodites in Renaissance Italy). While there's been some interesting Solomon 0.2 work, a lot of it is behind the scenes, and very little finished material I can show you (although I will be showing you some Far Merchant stuff at some point soon). 

In the meantime, I thought it would be neat to show you something I made a little while ago with my friends Maya Ziv (one of the people involved in Event Horizon) and Worsey, and am very proud of. It's the game mechanical system / philosophical structure for character creation and character death in our game Twilight Bridges. 

The concept is that each player creates 8 colored armbands, each with a different meaning (pleasures, bonds, mantra, name, etc.) and attaches them to their arm. That defines the character for the player, but doesn't matter much until the character dies. Death itself is a series of gates that the players must travel through. Each gate also contains a challenge (or bridge) that the player must overcome in order to allow their character to delve deeper into death. As you pass through the gate, you shed an armband, which abandons that outer level of your self. Eventually, all you're left with is your mantra, and once that is stripped away, you're able to move on.

I really like it as a philosophical idea (abandoning layers of the self to get at some truer form) and also as a game mechanic - forcing players to explore multiple levels of their being, multiple forms of existence. I could imagine something like this working really well in a tabletop setting. Wait, hmm, that gives me an idea...
