i told you this morning what my plans were for dinner. seeing as i was able to get home on time we actually get to cook together. i love cooking with you, it's so much fun making and eating things with you by my side.

❣️Ingredients❣️ - Brown Sugar - Saké - Mirin - 1x Cup Soy Sauce - Garlic 1-2 cloves - Ginger (knob) - Chicken Thighs (Skin on, not too much fat) - Potato Starch (Corn Starch for substitute) - Salt - Pepper - Oil (Veg oil or Olive oil, any works)

Talking about adding cornstarch to make your sauce thicker… a little goes a LONG WAY. Don’t over do it until you mix it in properly. Remember to mix your cornstarch with water first to make a slurry before adding it in 1:1 ratio.

I keep mine simple, a swirl of vegetable oil and some salt so it doesn’t taste bland. If I’m feeling fancy I chop up garlic cloves and I add it to the bottom of the rice cooker and let that cook a bit before adding the rice and water, vegetable oil and salt. Gives the rice an amazing garlic taste

Okay my favourite rice recipe is not a side dish but a dish in itself - an italian style congee or dakjuk. You make a soffritto base, fry it in oil on medium heat and when everything is soft and add garlic and thyme or oregano and fry it on a low heat. Add like a litre of vegetable or chicken stock. Let that simmer for a couple of minutes and then add 4-6 portions of cooked rice. Let that simmer til it thickens. Then you add shredded rotisserie chicken. Salt and pep. Serve with olive oil, a squeeze of lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt. Grated parmesan if you're fancy. It tastes like how a hug feels. Especially if you have a cold or feel a bit sad. 😘👌

To be honest, I’m not too sure. I’m sure either would work. It may just have a slight taste difference.

I’d use cornstarch (the fine white powder one). I’m sure you could use them interchangeably but sometimes (not always) corn flour makes it more gloopy.
