waking up to what we once had (Patreon)

the morning light filters softly through the curtains, brushing against your face as i wake you gently. you blink up at me, still caught somewhere between sleep and waking, and for a moment, it feels like nothing has changed. like we are still who we were before. we talk quietly about the past, letting the memories linger in the air between us, each one carrying a weight that neither of us can fully hold. i feel the pull of longing, an ache for what we used to have, for a time when things felt simpler and so much closer. but there is an unspoken understanding in your eyes, a truth we both feel but will not say, we cannot go back. as we turn the conversation toward breakfast, i wonder if you feel it too, the quiet yearning for something lost and the fragile hope that maybe, somehow, we can still find something new.
