Halloooo~oo! Time for the GS devlog for this week!
This Week's Summary:
- Finished coding the CGs
- Tested all of them
- Finished a few other small things
- Finished writing up the content guide
- Finished writing up the walkthrough
- Tweaked some of the CGs
- The beta is ready; I just have to find the opportunity to upload it
- Worked on the art book
The Ramble:
Hi everyone!
I finished getting the beta version ready this week but haven't quite found the time to upload and release it yet. It's waiting to go though!
I finished coding all the remaining CGs then took care of a few of the other remaining things.
I wrote up the content guide for Yuu's route and also wrote the walkthrough, then tested to make sure all the endings are accessible by following the guide.
And then I decided to tweak four of the CGs because...why wouldn't I go back and tweak some of the CGs I just finished. (I subsequently broke the CG code and had to fix them too. Rofl)
At this point the beta is ready to go and I just need some time when the internet is free from people working from home, etc, so I can do the upload. Because, of course, it's massive.
I'm going to try to get the beta uploaded either late tonight (for me) or tomorrow.
I also spent a lot of time on Friday working on the art book since I couldn't upload the beta. The art book, of course, is going to be massive.
I have the sprite section about ¾ of the way done and it's already 55 pages. Once I show off the sprite variations and a few expressions for all the major characters, I expect it to probably reach 75 pages.
And that's before I add in backgrounds, CGs, and any other art I have lying around. I think it's going to turn out to be a pretty hefty art book since this was a pretty art-heavy game. Lots of BGs, for one thing.
Anyway, that's something I'll be continuing to plug away at in the upcoming weeks.

Upcoming Week:
Getting the beta released and just...waiting for error feedback.
I actually do STILL have a few small things to do - like completing the achievement icons for Steam.
But I'll probably also continue to work on the art book as well.
And that is all for this week. Because the final route is going into beta, my next updates for Gilded Shadows are probably going to be more like check-ins than proper updates because I'm not actually going to have anything significant to talk about.
But I'll still be sure to post updates - even if they are small. But the focus of my updates is likely to start slowly shifting to When Stars Collide as that project inches towards the front burners.
