i saw a scene of this show as a child and it forever traumatized me 😭 even now as an adult i’ve been trying to get the courage to watch it and see wtf everyone be talking about, so i’ll try watching it with you.

Okay I'm going to make notes as I go and only answer the questions that maybe you were confused on something or it doesn't really get answered later on. Just to clear up with the Lannisters Tyrion(the dwarf), Jamie and Cersei (the twins) are all siblings and the kid Tyrion was slapping at the beginning of the episode is Cersei's son, Joffrey so he is the Crown Prince and Tyrion's nephew. Jon does not HAVE to go to the night's watch because he's a bastard but that's pretty much why he's going. he has been raised alongside all his siblings but you can tell he still feels like he doesn't have a real place there so the night's watch could be a good fit for him. They call joining the night's "taking the black" because they dress all in black. I know it's hard to tell the difference since the color palette of this show is really dark LOL but people do wear other colors. Also yes you had it right the first time Jon is Ned Starks bastard son which is why his wife doesn't like him. A Maester is basically a type of scholar in this world they are usually the healers/doctors, confidants, historians. You will be able to notice that they are wearing those gray robes and the metal chain. Correct , Khal is the Dothraki equivalent to king or a leader so his name is Drogo. I'm glad it's been a while cuz I'm feeling the emotion like it's the first time I'm seeing it I was so pissed off with that whole Sansa, Arya Joffrey plotline. This show can be so blood pressure raising at times this is not the first or the last time you will be upset.

Loving the summary discussion at the end by the way not that you need to do it every time but that's my favorite thing about this show is talking about it and I was happy there were so many comments on episode 1.

damn i forgot about lady :( … but if sansa had told the truth, i assume no direwolves would’ve had to die bc it would’ve exposed joffrey’s true nature (but then his mom prob would’ve got him out of it somehow so eh) anyways excited you watched ep 2 bc that cliffhanger had me wonder what exactly happened next since it’s been so long since i saw GOT - will def tune in for the show if you continue to watch :)

I forgot how much I hated Joffrey and disliked Sansa. The actor who played Joffrey got so much hate because of the character which is too bad, but he did a good job.

I’m so happy you decided to start this show and I hope you continue watching! I know it’s long & can be a hard task to take up but it’ll start to hook you as you get through season 1. Even if you decide to take your time, I’ll re-watch along with you! Love hearing your thoughts as a first time viewer and can’t wait for you to get to more of the iconic moments in the show! It can be brutal at times but the story is what kept me going & watching it along with friends so we could discuss (which hopefully you can do with all of us). Hope you stick with it!

I HATE Joffrey, but I hate Cercei even more!! she is manipulative and cruel. I am a dog person and this episode wrecks me every single time!!. I don't want to give away anything, BUT don't completely rule out Sansa!! I agree, She is unbearable right now, but she needs to learn what the world outside her fantasy of a happy life as queen would be like!!

Man this show had me asking so many what if questions throughout like: what if sansa didn't care about being queen? what if joffrey wasn't a privileged brat? what if sansa told the truth and didn't have to sacrifice lady? what if they didn't have direwolves? what if they didn't go south? would all of this have been prevented? probably not 🥲

Joffrey hate train!!! Literally cannot stand him, Sansa, and Cerci. Hell a good portion of the characters you will come to either hate entirely or ride with until the end. Prepare yourself for pure pain and anger every episode 😅

That’s what I’ve heard about Sansa! I’m only on s2 so I’m looking forward to her character arc. I’ve never truly hated her tho, maybe annoyed or frustrated at times, but I think my hate towards Joffrey or even Cersei definitely outweighs way more lol

So much of the show is about several political movements going on at once that it's hard to prevent anything from happening. Some are at the forefront and some are in the dark. Gotta keep your eyes open and your heart guarded 😩
