Kamala had never journeyed this far from her village on her own before. But despite what her teacher had told her, she was confident in her skills – she feared nothing and was sure that she could handle any obstacle that she may face out here.
She had set out from her village in search of . . . something. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but she felt as if someone, or something, had been calling out to her. She had gathered up provisions for her journey and set off in the night in search of the unknown feeling within her soul.
As she traveled, she used her fire magic to guide her path. The moon was no where to be seen on this night, and she effortlessly called forth her fire to light her way. She immensely enjoyed the feeling she got from summoning her magic – it sent a tingle throughout her body that was almost orgasmic. To be honest, she had become addicted to that feeling, to the dismay of her teacher. She didn't care, though. She knew that she had learned far more than he would ever know.
How had she come to be so adept at her magic? She wasn't quite sure. At night, in the darkness, she felt as though someone was there, whispering to her great secrets that had long since been forgotten. Though she had come to master many great spells, the voice had told her to keep it a secret from her teacher, and so she had.
The moonless night seemed especially dark. She could easily make out a bright star in the sky, which seemed to have an undulating purple glow to it. She thought it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. As she looked around she realized that there were no other stars to be seen in the sky. She could feel the pull of the star guiding her, and so she followed it. She desperately yearned to find out who had been aiding her in her magic.
After traveling a while, she came across what appeared to be an abandoned village. Using her magic to illuminate her surroundings, she explored the various buildings. She was surprised that there were no signs of life – it felt as though the village had been abandoned for a thousand years. And yet the village itself seemed fairly new. There were no signs of decay or rot in the wood, which she would have expected if the buildings were old.
But where was everyone? As she explored, she found what appeared to be a church. Going inside, she came across a locked door. She shimmied the lock open and found a set of stairs leading down to a basement. As she descended them, she noticed a faint purple light emanating from some glowing runes that formed a large circle in the middle of the floor. As she approached them, she realized they surrounded a vast pit. Streaks of what appeared to be fresh blood covered the floor. She leaned over and looked into the pit, unable to see an end.
As she stared into the gaping nothingness below, she felt a sense of peace . . . almost as if she could just fall into the abyss and everything would be okay. After staring into it for what seemed like an eternity, she finally managed to pull herself away and decided to explore the room. Using her fire to light her way, she came across a stone statue. As she held her hand up to it, she could see that a great creature with tentacles was carved into the stone. Looking closer, she could also see what appeared to be tiny people bowing down before the creature. She wasn't sure what exactly the creature was, but it seemed very familiar to her in her mind.
She made her way back up the stairs and out of the church. She was extremely tired from her journey and decided to take refuge in one of the houses she had come across earlier. She was happy that she would be spending the night indoors instead of out in the elements. She unpacked her belongings and lit a fire in the hearth.
Suddenly, there was a creak from the door behind her. Turning quickly, she saw a creature standing before her . . . she realized it was the same creature from the statue in the church basement. As it stared into her soul, she could hear its voice inside her head: “You are here at last. Come, be my mate and together we will rule this world with fire and destruction.”
She now knew who had been whispering to her all of those nights, teaching her in the darkness. She realized that this was her destiny; she belonged here with this creature. She was to be the mother of its offspring, and together they would usher in a new age. She slowly walked over to the creature and embraced it as she softly whispered, “My love, I am yours completely.”
