Oooh, art! But wait, before that here's some quick updates!

Stream Schedule

Fri (tomorrow) and Sat at 8p EST  | Sun at around 6 or 7am | I may stream in the  early morning on Sat and Sun as well, but those are tentative!

2022 is a'comin' and I'm looking forward to another year with you! We've finally got something to look forward to with Z+ coming this spring and we might even get some news from Shanghai's Disney Park. We're a starved group so it'll be nice to hear something :3.

But as 2021 ends and 2022 begins I'd really love to hear about what I can give to you. What do you want to see more of from me? Are there any ideas I've talked about or stories you thought were interesting that you'd want me to flesh out in writing? Do you want to see more static art or would you rather support my dive into animatic scenes and animations? Would you wanna join a Discord channel? Let me know in the comments! Every response to this question will be entered in a raffel for a free art commission or print. I have my own ideas on what to focus on - some I've mentioned previously - but before I make my first yearly game plan I'd like to hear what you have to say!

Special Event Streams

Silly Little Christmas Stream ft. TeamVoiceActs! 

This December I'll be hosting a very special, silly little CHARITY Christmas stream on YouTube with voice actors Cas (Judy) and Mickel (Nick)! More info to come later, but I'm REALLY looking forward to having them on again!

A Wildehopps Christmas Stream

I'll ALSO be doing a special stream for all the shippers out there who just want a little holiday romance where I'll be taking requests and drawing out some nice cozy little scenes and scenarios for you all. Might run long and might need to  take an EXTRA day in case we have too much fun with it XD Date and time are TBA.

Ok...NOW on to art. (I thought I made this post on Monday, but better late than never!)

iPad WIP. I'm not the best painter so this is practice for me. Would like to get better!

Last stream, I drew some poses / scenarios from the obligatory holiday special of my nonexistent series idea, Zootopia: The Series. I mentioned that last year's [unfinished] comic, Christmas Needs More Cilantro, is actually an edited, slice of life-y version of that "episode"; you can see Nick and Bogo are wearing the same clothing from that comic here. 

I'm always so conflicted bc I have stories I'd love to share, but always put it on the back burner. Maybe stories should be the focus for 2022? Let me know in the comments!

In that "ep" (but not the comic) a new character du jour - Carrie Mane. Or just Mane for short. She's a prolific maned wolf singer who is not at all based off of the Christmas Queen Mariah Carey. She'd been in my notebook for two years and I've never actually drawn her! She's a confident singer who's known Gazelle for most of her life, the two having attended school together until university. Despite this, it's rumoured that the two have a nasty rivalry in the music industry. Though her feature of being the tallest of the canines makes her look mysterious and imposing, reports state that she's actually quite nice...unless you're in the paparazzi.

I was hesitant to give her a human woman's body at first until I realized that her EXTREMELY long legs [and arms] warrant the design. There's a balance you have to strike when designing these characters. 

Not actually part of this episode was this little doodle where Nick's gaze lingers while staring at Judy, who's wearing his previous green sweater. Or maybe it could be in the episode! 

I need to start a Kickstarter...

A warm-up sketch, but this is from one of many notes from the aforementioned series. IF I were a writer, I'd want the focus to initially be on establishing a SOLID friendship between these two. That means allowing them to be comfortable poking fun at them or other characters showing interest in the other without becoming jealous or possessive. Though I would like to leave the "ambiguous relationship" setting on (partially because I'm a tease :P), I'd really like to justify WHY they compliment each other so well and play off that.

At least for season 1.

ANYWAY, that's all I have for tonight! I'm wrapping up a commission while I figure out this animation so if that's all squared away by tomorrow, you'll know what's happening with that (will upload the current file by the end of the week).

ACK! Timezones strike again. The Sunday stuff would have been perfect, but I'm out that day! Oh well. In terms of new stuff to see from you... All this talk of your Zootopia TV series has me interested. I remember a few of the models that were made (your roo even making her way into SavCo). More characters from that, and maybe discussions about what things we might have seen (even small little viginettes/ isolated scenes) could be great fun. I'd also say that, with your Long-Gal there... Seeing more takes on some more unusual animals and shapes come out. More wacky and wonderful stuff from nature. I've been trying to commission some art of a jerboa character (with full wackiness), and doing some example sketches to get the idea across. It's... very different, but I've always thought it fun to get these strange designs out (also art is hard. Why is art so hard? Why don't faces look good. How you make girl? How Pen function? Art hard why?).

No worries! Saturday might be an early day stream as well so maybe I’ll see you there! I’ve slowly been starting to wake up early, so we might see Morning / Evening streams on the weekends moving forward 😊

Wooooooooooo so excited for the Silly Christmas Stream!! As for Qal-some things to see coming up..... I have been really enjoying watching you animate, and seeing maybe some feral animations could be super fun! I also super enjoy your doodle stream of when you just draw whatever comes to mind. May I even suggest making a game out of doodles (like choosing 3 different prompts and combining them together)??? I just absolutely love your work bb and I can't wait to see more of it! 💜🤗

All of this sounds awesome!! 🤗 If those horrible timezone gods leave me alone, I will come and watch all of the streams I can! 😊 Now, to be totally honest with you, Qal, I don't think there ever was a SINGLE idea, or a piece of art of yours, that I wouldn't have loved 😄 And that's why it's almost impossible for me to deside what I want to see from you! But if I have to choose something, I always love comics! I would love to see your stories come to life in that format! But I also know that a single comic alone is a HUGE amount of work 🤔 (I definitely didn't do that Complimentary War comic of mine for almost a year! And that's nothing compared to other zootopia comic makers! 😄) That's why I will suggest, that you should start and make one (or couple) of your oldest project ideas that has been cooking in your mind for a long time, and just go with it! And of course blow our minds with it! 😄😊

Da arts are lovely as always! A discord server would be really fun to talk to everyone in our little community. In regards to next year/this year, I would love to see CNMC be finished or see more of UncleNick/Zootopia the Series or just story-based stuff like you've said. Also, it would be neat to see more of your Feral Work(Zoobound) if you still have interest in doing so. And of course more wildehopps, the wildehopps output needs to increase XD.

The pictures look great (as always). As for next year, I would love to see some stories, with some freestyle art sprinkled here and there, especially the whole Uncle Nick concept. Anytime you draw Nick interacting with one of the bunny kits is pure fluffy goodness. Also, I have to say kudos for making something as creepy looking as a maned wolf look good. "She's a prolific maned wolf singer who is not at all based off of the Christmas Queen Mariah Carey." I have no debate there, but I'm calling Bing Crosby the belated Christmas King :)

I still love the old idea of a Qalcove "Art Studio" discord server. Much like how Texi utilizes patreon just for posting finished work and wips, but uses the patreon discord for the bulk of announcements and posts and interactions. As well as hangouts and impromptu streams :> For artsy stuff, I'm aaaaall for seeing you progress on Animation work and projects. It's been so fun seeing you progress so quickly n excitedly. - piggybacking on that, I'd love to see your Eternal Flame mini project continue. Hearing Bateman/Nick serenading the bunnie lass. Also, I really enjoy any slice of life scenes and ideas. Just little snippets and interactions or emotions between any characters. Love to see you do some with your own ocs and headcanon chars 💚

If your goal is still to develop, practice and refine your animation and storyboarding you should work on that though, it would be nice if some cycles could be spared for progressing a bit on existing threads like the Cilantro story. Probably won't make any morning streams but the evening ones seem likely.

I'd absolutely love to join a discord. It'd give me a chance to talk with you more and learn about your animation process. I'd also love for you to continue your animation dive a lot more. Especially with how your feral drawings go. I'd love to see feral Nick and Judy come to life from you one day. I'd love to join more streams and I hope that I can fit it in my schedule to join more.

So many awesome streams coming up!! And such wonderful art!! Love it, Qal!! What stuff would I like to see from you in the coming year? Anything and everything you've ever even hinted you'd like to do!!! XDD But I know you're only one sqorl and that's not realistic. I certainly would love to see a conclusion to CNMC! It's such a sweet story! I know animation is really your passion, so I'd love to see more works in that direction too! Anything Uncle Nick is good, and I always love your story ideas, so anything involving these series you've come up with would be wonderful! Hope that gives you some ideas! <3 <3 <3

I second everything everyone here said already. I'd like to add that you do more doodles. Like, someone spit fires an idea and you have only 5 minutes to doodle it. It doesn't have to be detailed, just rapid fire quick doodles that convey the idea succinctly. Fill up the page with random ideas. I think something like that would be fun. (Speaking as someone watching the streams)

What do you want to see more of from me? More static art and more comic related stuff! There were a few comics that you started that I don't think ever got finished? I'd love to see those ones done, especially the wildehopps ones. Are there any ideas I've talked about or stories you thought were interesting that you'd want me to flesh out in writing? Anything OC related! I've seen you briefly dip into some OC creation stuff and it would be great to see OC-centric stuff from you! Do you want to see more static art or would you rather support my dive into animatic scenes and animations? As said above, more static art. I love your animatics but, I personally love static art and comics a bit more ^-^ Would you wanna join a Discord channel? Would be nice! I am surprised you didn't have one already to be honest. But I figured it was a comfort level thing and that's 100% understandable as it can be alot to run!

If you feel like branching out of the Zootsphere, I would love to see some of your other works. I think most people here would enjoy it as well. We are here for you, not just your zoot.
