I continue my exploration of Bangkok. And I changed my mind about transgender people in Thailand. The Russian media talked about the fact that people become transgender in Thailand because of poverty. Young boys from poor families change their gender to become prostitutes and sell their bodies for money. But I found that in Bangkok, some ladyboys can work in fields that are not related to the sex industry at all. 

I already talked to a ladyboy who works as an English teacher in a high school. Very smart and intelligent. 

And little young ladyboy who works at the pharmacy near my condo. At first I thought it was a real teenage girl until I heard her "voice". 🙂

I also met a very beautiful student ladyboy. Intelligent "girl" from a good family. I was surprised by the calm reaction of the Thai people when they saw us together. It seems to be a common phenomenon for them.

All of these ladyboys don't work in the sex industry. They do not stand on the streets at night and do not dance striptease in nightclubs. They live ordinary lives. This inspired me a lot. This is very similar to my fantasies about the transgender world of Futatown.
