Like last week I had a lot of fun making the Alt covers and some of them were just REALLY nice (6 and 8!) So I included them here. Enjoy =c)

Rayne visits Laura with more than just small talk in mind, but in this alternate ending story… things don’t quite go according to plan. And a great quest begins! [Alternate ending clearly marked below for easy finding.]

Laura was sitting inside of her dorm room working at her computer, absentmindedly tapping her foot to her favorite song that only she could hear in the back of her mind. Luckily for her a knock at the door interrupted the ear worm stuck in her head. “Come on in!” she shouted as she swiveled to look at the door.

The door opened a crack as Rayne poked her head inside. “Hey, you mind some company?” she said softly, almost timidly.

“Not at all!” Laura said, happily slamming the lid of her laptop down. “Whadda ya bring me!” she whispered under her breath.

“Huh?” Rayne asked, confused. “I…didn’t really bring anything?” she trailed off, unsure of how to answer.

Laura smiled and shook her head. “Never mind, it’s just a meme online. What's up?” she said, offering Rayne a seat in the chair next to her bed. Rayne, however, declined and instead paced the room nervously as she looked around.

“I just wanted to get your thoughts on last night's induction.” Rayne said, blushing. “It seemed to work pretty well on you, I think. But I wanted to get your thoughts on it now that you’re more…awake.” Rayne seemed a bit guarded as she leaned against the wall, folding her arms and watching Laura carefully.

Laura’s face turned beet red as she remained oblivious to Rayne’s unusual mood. “It was kind of hot actually!” she giggled. “The way that you just stared into my eyes and used them to draw me in. Wow!” Her blush deepened as she smiled at Rayne. “It’s a good thing you have such compelling eyes or else it might not have worked!” Laura laughed nervously, trying to break the tension and ease her own embarrassment.

Rayne smiled as she continued scanning the room, almost as if she were stalling. “Thank you.” she said, glancing at Laura’s closet. “I was really happy with how it worked on you…and the others.” she said, smiling despite herself.

“The others?” Laura asked in confusion. “Who else did you get with it? I was a bit…um…hypnotized at the time and didn’t notice.” The blush continued creeping across her face.

“Eve went out a few seconds after you did.” Rayne said, still pacing as her eyes scanned every available surface in Laura’s room. “I put Christine under not long after that. I would have gotten Klaire, too, but she woke up when Eve’s head landed in her lap.” The annoyance in her voice was still easy to pick out.

Laura laughed at the image. “Yeah, Eve is pretty weak against hypnosis. Do you think Klaire will join the sorority?” she asked excitedly, already thinking about having a new member and someone else to practice on.

“I’m not sure.” Rayne admitted. “She doesn’t want to, but I have a plan.” Rayne’s face twisted into a devious smirk for a split second.  “And it is a hypnosis sorority, after all…we’ve recruited members that way in the past.”

Laura smiled for a moment as her eyes glazed over and the programming in her mind kicked in, making her forget that not all of the members had been volunteers. “What…”  she started, shaking her head. “What’s your plan to get Klaire?” she finished.

Rayne smiled, seeing Laura struggle with the memory. “It’s not fully formed yet, just in the planning stages.” she admitted. “So, what do you think about the sorority, in general?”

Laura beamed with excitement. “It’s so much fun!” she admitted. “I’m looking forward to my turn as the hypnotist. I think it’s the meeting after next. And I hope Klaire comes along, she seemed nice for the few minutes that I got to talk to her.” Laura stopped for a moment to gather her thoughts. “All in all, I really like the sorority and what we are doing with it. I’m excited to see where it goes!”

Rayne nodded as she caught a glimpse of something in Laura’s closet that made her smile. She may have found just what she was looking for. “I agree, more or less.” Rayne said, taking a step past Laura.

“What do you mean?” Laura asked, confused, as she watched Rayne move over to her closet. “Hey, what are you doing?” she said, getting up to follow the freshman.

Before Laura could reach her, Rayne pulled out a surprisingly long, wax wood staff. It was just under six feet tall, which was easily taller than both Laura and Rayne, and was wrapped in a surprisingly thick layer of yellow wrapping paper with an intricate head piece on the top. It looked like a combination of LED lights and 3D printed plastic had created a kind of diamond shape around the top of the staff, as well. “What is this thing?” Rayne asked, hoping it was exactly what she thought it might be, and exactly what she was looking for.

Laura’s nervousness and annoyance instantly vanished as she took the staff from Rayne with an excited smile. “This is my sorceress staff!” she explained proudly. “I cosplay as a female version of the Istar from Lord of the Rings. I go as Lorien the Gold!” she explained excitedly. “I can even cast spells with it!”

Rayne practically bit her tongue as she tried to keep herself from smiling. It was exactly what she had hoped for. “Oh?” she asked out loud “How so?”

Alt ending chapter 2

—----------------

[Note: This story follows the Alt Ending for chapter 1, not the canon ending]

Laura smiled as she slowly stepped away from Rayne to give herself some space. “Would you like to see what this staff can do?” she asked with a playful, yet innocent smile.

“Sure!” Rayne said, doing her best to fake interest and failing miserably. “Give me your best shot.” She finished, smiling confidently.

Laura’s demeanor changed on a dime, she went from being playful and silly to being almost stoic in her posture and stance. She looked at Rayne and, in a voice that was probably way too loud for a college dorm room, shouted “You!…Shall! Not!... THIIIIIIIIIIINK!”  She finished, slamming the staff on the floor.

Rayne jumped in surprise and even found herself adopting a defensive stance, which only made Laura smile more. The blonde junior pulled the staff back and shouted in perfect Elvish (which you can Google) “Leithio lîn estel!” and shoved the staff directly in Rayne’s face. At the same time, she activated the LED lights on the staff, brightly illuminating both of their faces.

Rayne instantly squinted and tried to block the lights, but they managed to flood her eyes with swirls and flashes of color even through her eyelids. She hadn’t imagined that amount of light could come from something so small and cheaply constructed, but the whole situation still made her feel dizzy and disoriented. “Stop!” she said forcefully. “I can’t see/”

“You don’t need to see, Rayne.” Laura said, still stoic and in character. “You need to sink…you need to let your mind delve down into the realm of fantasy and magic, to feel the power of the staff, the swirl of the spell, and to simply let your mind go…blank!” Laura finished as she whacked Rayne on the top of the head with the staff. Way harder than she should have.

Had Rayne been a normal person, with normal hobbies, she would have taken a blow to the head with a plastic cosplay toy and been…less than pleased with Laura. But Rayne’s hobby was hypnosis, and the surprise impact and jerk of her body caused her mind to go into fight or flight mode. When the word “blank!” echoed through her mind, her subconscious thought it sounded like an excellent idea, and as she recoiled from the impact she felt her thoughts simply fade away. She opened her eyes to see the lights shining into them and felt her arms go completely limp at her sides, leaving her bent over slightly so they hung forward a bit even as her weight shifted. Eventually, her legs gave out from under her and she collapsed to her knees, mouth open as she stared vacantly at the lights swirling across her face from the staff that Laura had used to bludgeon…or rather enthrall…her into a trance.

Laura smiled as she continued to swirl the staff above Rayne’s eyes, lighting up the completely entranced freshman’s lovely features. “Now Rayne…” Laura started, still as confident and stoic as she had been before. “You realize your true self…your true destiny, is that you are an elvish archer. A ranger from the forest of Mirkwood, here to help me on my quest to destroy the One Ring… isn’t that right now, my elvish friend.” Laura couldn’t help but giggle as she slowly broke character.

Rayne would have probably also laughed if she was awake. But she was too blank and deeply hypnotized to see the humor. And instead of resisting, instead of complaining or rolling her eyes, she simply said “Yes…help you…quest…elf…” as her voice softly trailed off.

Laura smiled contentedly and turned off the staff as her eyes lit up with excitement. “We need to get you an outfit! I think I have just the one for you.” she said, setting the staff down and beginning to dig through her closet. “We’ll get your clothes changed and we’ll be on our way!” she said happily.

For most people, Laura’s comment would have implied that Rayne should wait to undress until Laura found the right outfit for her. But Rayne was not in her right mind…and she nodded quietly as she stood up.

Laura continued rifling through her closet until finally found what, in her opinion, was the perfect outfit. It was a bit small on her, but Rayne was smaller in some respects and larger in others, and would do just fine, Laura concluded, as she spun around holding an elvish ranger outfit. “This should do just…oh!” she gasped in surprise.

In front of her was a now completely naked Rayne, staring blankly at Laura. “You are a sorceress…I am an Elf…we need to destroy…the One Ring…” she whispered slowly.

Laura’s shock at seeing Rayne naked, coupled with the events of the previous evening where she had been hypnotized by a pair of breasts, had quite the hypnotic effect. She tried to stay awake, tried to stay conscious, but her mind couldn’t keep up. Instead it simply went blank as she slowly began to repeat after Rayne. “I am a sorceress…you are an elf…we need to destroy…the One Ring…”

Half an hour later, Lorien the Gold, and Ningwe the elvish ranger strode into their dorm’s lounge. Carly took one look at the two of them and spit her drink out all over Jackie. “What the hell are you two doing?!” she said, laughing hysterically.

Jackie groaned and shuddered as she started wiping the spit off of her face. “Thanks for that.” she said in annoyance as she turned to see Laura and Rayne walking up to their table. “Ummm…what the hell?”

“I…” Laura began in her stoic voice once again, “Am Lorien the Gold, and this is my companion, Ningwe the Elf. We are on a quest to the most vile of places, the Mountain of Doom, to destroy the greatest evil the world has ever known. The One…Ring of Power!”

Carly and Jackie stared at each other, blinking in confusion. “Umm…the fuck are you on?” Carly replied, trying not to laugh any harder.

“No, no…” Jackie interrupted. “What do you need from us, dear wizard?” she asked, smiling deviously.

“Sorceress.” Laura corrected. “I am a sorceress.”

“Sorry…” Jackie said, nearly laughing again. “How can we help you, sorceress?”

“We are looking for companions. We need a warrior,” Laura said, pointing to Jackie “and a dwarf.” she said, pointing to Carly.

“I’m not that short!” Carly snapped angrily, folding her arms in a huff.

Jackie laughed and smiled. “I’m sorry, I think we are a little busy for this right…”

Before she could finish, Laura shouted “Leithio lîn estel!” and flashed the LED lights of the staff into both girls' eyes.

Jackie and Carly groaned in unison as Rayne took a step forward and tapped them both on the forehead. “Sleep, mortals!” she said, almost condescendingly.

Both young women gasped in surprise as their bodies instantly went limp. Carly slumped back into her chair while Jackie landed with a thud on the table in front of them. Rayne took a moment to reposition the two of them so they could see Laura, then stepped back next to the hypnotized sorceress.

“Open your eyes, my companions.” she paused to see both girls open their glazed and empty eyes. “Focus on the light…I am here to show you your true selves…there is a great quest ahead of us…and there is much you must learn.”

The lights played across Carly and Jackie’s faces while their minds were slowly transformed into Karloti the Dwarf and Jacarinde the Warrior. And oh the adventure they would have…

The end…probably.
