I am so happy we got this backstory after all of the sad/tragic backstories we've seen so far. Mitsuri definitely had her challenges, but seeing her supportive and loving family was so heartwarming 🤗

Also, she's a complete badass and I'm obsessed with her 💪

To clarify, Tanjiro's mark is not "always on". He has a scar, and his mark manifests on top of the scar. He had his scar visible for all this episode, but in the shot when his sword catches fire and he is swinging that last strike on the wood, he has the mark on his head instead of the scar. Its also an interesting dichotomy to have the two female hashira be either lacking in physical strength(unable to behead demons) to the point of needing to resort to developing poison, or just be maximum muscle(holding up 1.5 times her weight has a 14 month old). Also next episode is the last of this season, and double length.

Yeah Tanjiro's mark is not always there, it's his scar, which looks very similar lol. But every time his mark activates, he always gets a boost in speed and strength. Both Muichiro and Mitsuri got a power boost as well once we see them with a mark. Also the anime left a line out from the manga about Genya here's what it says : "Genya can't use breathing techniques so in order to approach becoming a Hashira, this was a last resort. But it wasn't something anyone could do. Genya possesses unnaturally strong jaws and special digestive organs." All of the main characters have a ability linked to the 5 senses. Tanjiro smell, Zenitsu hearing, Inosuke touch, now Genya Taste and the last one I won't say for now. Final episode time!!!

I think were meant to assume he was born with it yes. His special digestive organs make it possible for him to gain demon powers without fully turning into one.
