Brother the writers were on crack writing this finale. Everything went absolutely nothing like the audience and the riders expected it to. As a first time viewer, it's impossible to predict the outcome and there's so many more moments like this in season 5 and 6 oml. Unpredictable writing is what makes a show good. This isn't even the best 2 parter imo. Season 5 has the best set of episodes which I HIGHLY recommend you to watch back to back to back (Dawn of Destruction, Wings of War Parts 1 & 2). They fuck with everything you've come to understand about the riders, the villains, and dwell on themes that are present in the 2nd movie as well and explain why things happened as they did in the 2nd movie. It's REALLY well written. Basically, take this set of episodes and imagine it like 5x as good. And you're right about what you said at the end. The riders failed so many times in this episode. They failed capturing Viggo, defending The Defenders of the Wing, the Outcasts. It's all gone South. But that's what makes this show so good, like you said urself. It's good they fail bcs then thats how the show becomes better, and that's how we become more invested in the characters - because we want to see them succeed. Very few shows are willing to portray their central characters as failing all the time, but that's why the story is so fucking enjoyable. I love it. A lot of what I said reflects onto ATLA as well ESPECIALLY in season 3. It's the same, if not better than rtte.

NOOO DON'T BINGE IT IN 1 DAY IT'LL RUIN THE EXPERIENCE. Drag it out as you've been doing so far with 1 ep a day (except that set of 3 episodes i mentioned above) Trust me, retraining yourself will be SO SO SO worth it when you get to those episodes. And yes those episodes are probably better than what we saw here. Like I can say all this but none of it will matter because season 5 as a whole is unpredictable as fuck. Nothing goes the way you expect it to. So be prepared hehehe. Best way to describe last 2 seasons + these last 3 episodes of season 4 is that they're basically like the same quality of writing as ATLA season 3 (since I'm guessing you started watching it now). So in other words REALLY fucking good. But think of some sad shit to restrain yourself or the excitement will get to you lmaoo
