Mutually Assured Destruction. Sounds a bit Suicidal. Again I am looking at this season and Sam choice next season to get out of this life. The MOTW this episode is a brother who wants the sibling to be with him in death even if it hurts the other sibling to do so. Dean has always wanted Sam with him in the hunter life even if that is not what sam wants. Lucifer represents Sam's guilt and stress from being apart of this life. Sam is tired and done with it until Cas comes back and takes that burden from him. He takes Sam's place as the brother with overwhelming guilt for his actions and by the end of the season after Dean makes Cas join the fight again both basically kill themselves to Stop Dick" Mutually Assured Destruction.

Shelley your indignation that Lucifer and Sam have no sexual chemistry is so hilarious! It feels like this sets the pattern of Luci being intensely annoying rather than seductively evil for the rest of the show
