Definitely a low point of the entire show, and not just series 9. Series 9 is still my favorite, but I NEVER watch this episode on a rewatch. In fact, this is the first time I've ever rewatched it. Kudos for trying something different, but I'm really not a fan of found footage style. I hated the Blair Witch Project while everyone else seemed to love it, so I thought maybe it was just me, but it looks like this one wasn't well received in general. It had the lowest viewing figures of the entire revived series up to this point, and had the lowest Audience Appreciate score since "love and monsters" (from series 2 with the absorbing alien). Honestly, if they missed this one out, series 9 would be a near-perfect series for me. Couple of fun facts: This is the first episode of Doctor Who EVER not to feature the title at the start. It's also the first time since the First Doctor era that the villain prevailed (not including cliffhangers or story arcs where the Doctor lost at first, but defeated the villain later). I never like to spoil anything, or talk about future episodes, but because this one is so shit I think you'll be ok with me saying that it is completely stand-alone, filler, and not revisited. There was originally a plan to do a sequel in series 10 but Mark Gatis (the writer) scrapped the sequel to write something else that he always wanted to do for Doctor Who instead. Hope you don't mind me saying that, but I think it's a bit of a relief if nothing else lol. Like me, you can just erase this one from memory, and move on with the show.

I mentioned that the last episode was one of my absolute favorites across all shows I've watched. On the other hand this is one of the absolute worst episodes of any show I've ever watched. The first time I saw it I couldn't believe they followed up the previous episode with something so terrible that I thought I must have missed something so I watched it again trying to find some kind of redeeming quality. All that did was make me hate it even more and that was the last time I watched it until now. I had hoped seeing it through your eyes might make it a little better but I think I hate it more than ever now lol. Thankfully this was a one off and we never have to deal with this again. This was the only low point in the season in my opinion and I can't wait to see what you think of the next few episodes.
