I thought this was a very good episode, the actor Gregory Cruz did a great job and I liked his back and forth with Hotch. I liked getting to meet Hotch's brother, glad they were able to make up at the end of the episode, I don't know if you've seen Smallville, but if you have, you might recognize Hotch's brother as Whitney, Lana's boyfriend in Smallville. Cults are creepy, the fact that a vulnerable person could meet an extremely manipulative person at the wrong time and be brainwashed into doing things they never would have considered before is disturbing. Hotch did imply he was abused in the episode, Natural Born Killer earlier this season, honestly with behavior he has it makes sense and fits his character, I'm told that there's maybe some other brief scenes, that might imply it as well, but I didn't notice them the first time I watched this series. The show however never really brings it up again or develops it, so it can be considered a forgotten or underdeveloped story. Since he talks fondly about his father with his brother in this episode, maybe it's his stepfather he's talking about and his biological father was the abuser or maybe an uncle or some other family member. Either way, I would say that Hotch was abused but the show's not going to talk about it again. I hope this doesn't count as spoilers, since I'm talking about something the show is not going to be doing. Great reaction, I look forward to the next one.
