Tia directed her to a location where the vendor trucks would be setting up. “There are a couple of electricians there trying to get the power… I don’t know… something about phases, amperage and something.”

“I don’t really know anything about being an electrician,” Shay replied.

Tia looked at the workers. “I’m sure you can help. Extra hands. Really, if we don’t get that sorted out, we’ve got big troubles. Priorities.”

Shay looked at the three electricians Tia had pointed her toward and shrugged.

Sure enough, there were things she could do to help. Holding this. Checking that. One of the electricians showed her how to use a current tester—she just held a button and pushed the probe against an outlet. Shay worked with the men for a couple hours until they were satisfied.

When they were done, Shay looked at them and pointed to a little street vendor’s cart. “So, you fella want to let me buy you a hot dog and a lemonade?”

Not one of them declined.
