Month End Post: 2024 & December Wrap-Up (Patreon)
Content
Welcome to the end of 2024, everyone! This is Claire, the GB Patch Community Manager, here with a final update for the year. We’d like to, first, take a moment to reflect on what was accomplished this December and, second, relive all that happened in the GB Patch world throughout 2024! It seems that the months fly by faster every year – but no matter how quickly time passes, we still spend every second grateful to have the best community in the world. With that said, let’s get into it!
Monthly Content Summary:
December was a fabulously productive month for the studio. Despite the rush of the holiday season, when many prefer to take it slow, GB cranked it up a notch and really delivered for us.
An outstanding, showstopping, unbelievable (can you tell I’m excited?) 50,750 words were written this month! 14,050 of those words were part of the drafting and brainstorming process.
And, wait for it – our rockstar lead dev nearly DOUBLED the programmed word rate from this time last December! Brace yourself… 22,330 words were programmed this month!
GB is currently on a well-deserved creativity break until the 1st. We’ll have a January and 2025 (as a whole) blog out soon, so get ready to dive into a year filled with content, updates, demos, and more, as OL2 continues to bloom right in front of our eyes.
2024 Reflection:
The year started off with the completion of the Step 1 Script for OL2! After a lot of hard work, long hours, and creative writing, GB was able to check off the first chapter of OL2. Past that, the Step 2 prologue was completed, along with several Moments scripts!
It took hours, days, weeks, and months, but this work allowed multiple demo updates to be released! It’s been fantastic being able to jump into OL2, the world that’s been developed, and the characters that breathe life into it.
The studio also had several non-game related accomplishments! First off, I was hired. (Woo! 😂) The community has been so welcoming and I couldn’t be more grateful to have joined this big family. On the community end, I am working on putting together a fan contest based around one singular prompt, where fans can enter with any kind of medium they create (art, fic, etc.) – with prizes available! Keep an eye out for more information, coming soon. We also started posting on Blue Sky (find us at @gbpatch.bsky.social!)
Community members are now able to leave reviews on the demo via Steam. We’re very grateful for the more than 150 reviews already posted, all of which have been fantastic to see. The OL1 artbook was also released, giving fans the opportunity to relive the glory days of Cove, Derek, Baxter, and the whole gang in their full glory.
Finally, GB hired several additional sensitivity and authenticity readers to make sure OL2 and future projects (👀) are presented in their best possible form. Speaking of future projects, GB snuck in a few bits of info on Project W, the next studio game following OL2, once a month for a whole year. Keep an eye out for more info on this mysterious project – you won’t regret it!

Thanks for sticking around to read about all of the work that the team has been producing. We couldn’t do it without you. It’s one thing to have a community that loves the game, but it’s another to have one that constantly cheers on the devs, sends notes of encouragement across all socials, and is gracefully understanding when breaks need to be taken. Here’s to you, the GB Patch Community, and the love you have for us! We hope 2025 continues to make you proud.
See you next year!
