Misty - (leaning forward) How about a fairytale twist? Maybe something with a touch of mystery or magic, but not too childish. You know, something everyone can enjoy?

Klen - (nodding, taking notes) Yeah, I can work with that. A fairytale with a bit of intrigue—maybe even a plot twist toward the end?

Arin - (sighing) Is it too late to vote for the lemonade stall again?

Rin - (nudging him playfully) Oh, come on, Arin! Where’s your sense of adventure?

Misty - Yeah, stop being such a downer. Think about how fun it’ll be to prove Class B wrong.

Arin - (reluctantly) Alright, alright. But don’t expect me to be the “princess” if that’s what the draw says.

Misty - (teasing) Who knows? You might make an amazing princess!

(The class laughs, Arin included, though he’s still visibly apprehensive.)

Miss Margrave - Perfect! So here’s what we’ll do: we’ll work on the script with Klen, organise our crew, and then we’ll draw names for roles next week. Everyone, be prepared to give it your all, and let’s show Class B what we’re capable of!

Class - (in unison) Yes, Miss Margrave!

After the final bell rang and the classroom began to empty, Arin gathered his things and prepared to leave. Just as he reached the door, he felt a sharp tug on his arm. He turned to find Misty standing there, arms crossed, looking at him with a mix of disappointment and exasperation.

Misty - And where exactly do you think you’re going? We need to discuss the play, remember? (She gave him a piercing look that left no room for excuses.)

Arin - (sighing) Oh, right… Sorry. I thought I’d just, you know, head to the restroom first.

(Misty’s gaze shifted to the bag slung over his shoulder, then back to his face. Her expression said everything without a single word.)

Arin - (thinking to himself) Great. She noticed the bag. Of course, she’d notice. Why am I even surprised?

Just then, Klen, standing confidently at the teacher’s desk, cleared his throat to get everyone’s attention.

Klen - Alright, everyone! If we’re doing a play, we’re going to need someone to take on the director’s role. (He scanned the room, a hint of amusement on his face.) So… who’d like to volunteer?

(Two girls in the back instantly raised their hands, eagerly volunteering.)

Klen - (smiling mischievously) Just a warning: we’re looking for a tough-minded, unflappable person. We’d really like some… ungrateful critics who have strong opinions on everything and aren’t afraid to voice them.

(The girls exchanged uneasy glances, their hands dropping as quickly as they’d gone up.)

Arin - (raising an eyebrow, chuckling) Man, your phrasing’s way off. The director’s role is kind of important, you know. You could’ve just asked for someone with leadership skills or vision.

Rin - (standing up eagerly) I’d like to be the director!

Klen - (nodding) And your qualifications are…?

Rin - (clearing her throat, her voice brimming with enthusiasm) I’ve watched tons of romantic movies, anime, read a whole lot of manga, and rom-coms are literally my favorite genre. I think I’d be able to… you know, bring something special to directing.

Klen - (nodding thoughtfully) That sounds promising. Alright, that settles it. Rin, you’re our director. And Misty—how about you as assistant director?

Misty - (feigning offense) Hey! When did I agree to this?

Klen - (chuckling, giving her a light pat on the shoulder) Let’s be real, Misty. Think about what could happen if we left Rin without a strong backup.

(Misty paused, a humorous yet horrifying image flashing in her mind: a chaotic set with Rin passionately directing while the cast wandered around aimlessly, tangled in props and mismatched costumes.)

Misty - (sighing, resigned) Alright, alright. I see your point. Somebody’s gotta keep things grounded.

Klen - (grinning) Glad to have you on board! Now, let’s talk about the rest of the roles. We’ll need people for supporting cast members, maybe even a few… like trees or background characters to fill out the scenes.
