I always loved the idea that Amir was ultra normal during these episodes because it further underlines the two ships in the night thing. Like Jake does have opportunities to enjoy Amir acting normally, but it’s during those brief windows of time that Jake is freaking out. And so the two can never quite vibe simultaneously.
