last month's update

Yo, what's up, everyone! Another month, another update! Let's get right into it.

 CONVENTIONS

First off, we'd like to say that we will be attending GalaxyCon Columbus in Columbus Ohio this weekend from December 6-8th! Feel free to stop by and see us! This is our last conventions of the year and we are very excited about it.

 KINDRED HEAVENS

This month has been a very busy one for Kindred Heavens. Both Scott and I have been hard at work on completely different books, with him working on finishing up the art for Book Three and me working on finishing up the writing for Book Four.

We've talked at great length about how, originally, Kindred Heavens was supposed to be one big, beefy book, and because of that, Book Four presented us with an interesting challenge, and it was the book we were always most worried about. Why? Well, because there wasn't really a natural 'stopping point' anywhere in this section of the story. We were always worried this book was going to be way too long or way too short. And guess what? It was way too long!

We wrote about 60 pages before realizing the book was going to not only be around 130 pages (scott would have cried) and STILL feel rushed. So, though it was a tough decision to make, we decided to scrap that draft and cut Book Four in half and give all the ideas of these last three books in the series time to breathe. So as of right now, we are projecting Kindred Heavens to be six books in total.

We were very nervous about making this decision, but now that I'm close to finishing the rough draft of Book Four (it will be done today!) I'm very confident it was the right call. I'm immensely proud of Book Four and think books Five and Six, with more room to be fully fleshed out, are gonna be awesome.

Let's hear from Scott, now!

Well, boys, big month! First month without coloring any KH pages, and how'd I do?

A whopping 28 pages inked! This already puts us well within the range where I want to be (minimum 2 KH books/year), but I want to push that even further. And I think I can! I took a whole week off at the end of November for the holidays(and may do the same in December). And, I'm still getting used to inking the pages. I'm getting more comfortable doing 2 pages per day now, though, putting us over 30 per month easily.

I should have the remaining pages inked very early this month, even with the convention coming up. I'm not sure what I'll do for the rest of the month, if I'll start KH4, if I'll do a side project, build post backlog, or just rest. Hard to say!

Nek is wrapping up his other projects so no coloring work has been done yet, but we expect that to start this month and are still on track to publish the book in Q1 2025.

OTHER PROJECTS

We are happy to report that all other projects are progressing smoothly! We don't have any updates to share with them but hard-work is being done. In December, we may potentially be beginning something new that is not a comic, but it's in the very initial planning stages, so we don't want to announce anything about it yet.

And that’s all for this month, everyone! Hope y’all enjoyed this. We’ll be back on January 1st (new year, WOO!) with more updates!
