Not only was the flashback about Marcille meeting Falin, but also it showed off Falin was pretty young when they first met! Laios is 26 right now and Falin is roughly 23. Falin met Marcille when she was around 11 years old. They've known each other for a long time!

Another thing that I loved about the backstory of Falin and Marcille meeting is that it did a great job of showing that there is a major difference between textbook "smarts" and "applied practice" smarts. Even though Falin is much younger than Marcille, she's grasped the idea of real world practice of her area of study to learn how to improve on the foundations. In earlier episode's we saw Marcille struggling with trying things outside of her "textbooks" because she was so used to referring to the foundations and walking the known road. The episode with the mandrakes and the dog is a great example of that. I think their meeting needed to happen to show Marcille that no matter how much studying you do, without delving further into your area of knowledge and applying real experience, it can tend to leave you questioning why someone else's work "works" when it appears they didn't "study" as hard as you. I also think that their meeting is why (in future) we will see a stark difference in Marcille vs the others (hopefully not spoiling it for yall!). Great stuff as always!

Marcille and Falin are both incredibly talented in their own way of doing magic. We haven't seen as much of Marcille's magic because mana is limited and the gang has mentioned in an earlier episode that she needs to preserve as much of her mana as possible in order to perform larger, costlier spells in the deeper levels of the dungeon. I think it's also important to note that the flashback was from Marcille's perspective. She looks up to Falin like crazy, and she was likely her only friend prior to meeting Laios and the gang. I.e. Marcille is not unbiased. She thinks Falin is insanely talented (she is), and part of that is just because Falin does magic *differently* from how Marcille does it. Marcille is very book-educated and follows pretty strict formulas for magic (e.g. mandrake ep.), whereas Falin just feels things out organically (e.g. ghosts ep.). The grass is always greener on the other side, etc. etc. I imagine both Falin and Marcille look up to each other based on what we've seen and the flashback from this ep.

It's multiple seasons but it's really not that long, similar to Attack on Titan and way less than MHA.

Yeah Falin is stupid powerful, given that she's a human and was only 11 at the time exhibiting that kind of power. Meanwhile Marcelle is an elf and was around 40ish by the time she met Falin. Marcelle is dope at magic too but that's based off being blessed with having more years of study under her belt compared to the short-lived races.

I'm not entirely sure if this counts as a spoiler really, but warning ahead regardless. ------------------- Marcille does make a point that because humans are much more short-lived compared to the other races, they also advance exceptionally quickly. That sure an Elf or a Dwarf have plenty of experience and natural affinities, but humans make up for it with being incredibly quick learners in this universe.

I personally like it. I think it adds to the raw immersion of watching people react on camera. Every moment of silence feels heavier and more meaningful because it is real and unfiltered. It reminds of the times when Youtube videos were not taken over by ads and flashy edits yet. The times when you felt like you were interacting with real people and not just "influencers". Yeah, I miss those times.

I personally didn't even notice that butt shot the first times I watched the episode, until I watch American reactors react to it. And I still see nothing wrong about it, it's just the silhouette of her buttocks, there was no panty or underwear shown. I feel like Americans have been exposed to so much pornographic imagery through modern times that they developed an allergic reaction to anything sexual or crypto-sexual on screen. I noticed I only see that type of aversion among American reactors.

Cultures vary all around, and it results in clashing viewpoints. I've seen many Canadian reactors react the same. And basically, every female reactor of any culture or country. It's annoying, but I doubt we'll ever see a change for the better and it'll only get worse for us Americans and other countries that are slowly following along with the overcensorship that is slowly consuming America 😔 I live in an American state where we can't even look at Pornhub (and many many other porn sites) without first confirming our age through a webcam photo. Hopefully this kind of stuff doesn't become the norm.
