My two possible head canon answers is Goku was so strong by that point he basically showed us what would happen if Shenron tried to use his magic on anyone he told wishers he was too strong to do anything too or because he's been on the receiving end of Shenron's magic before he knew it when he felt it and rejected it like how he knew to be ready to grab his grandpa's dragon ball in OG DB after reviving Uppa's dad

I always assumed Goku told King Kai if they ever made a wish to bring him back, to tell Shenron no. Or maybe he was watching them make the wish via King Kai and in that moment, Goku tells King Kai to tell Shenron not to bring him back.
