 *ANTI-AGING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I had wrote Saku Yanigahara off a lot in this series, but...the MAN THAT YOU ARE!

The way that this series looks at two opponents who see the flaws in themselves and the power in each other?! The ANIMATION? THE SYMBOLISM? Shaft, you did it again! TEARS, Y'ALL.

Generation Wumbo

This match is honestly my favorite in the whole show.

I absolutely adored how this match is turning out to be. I was not expecting it, and that makes it so incredibly fun. You definitely start the episode rooting firmly for Shimada; he is, after all, the one we have been following since Season 1 closely and have already felt him loosing once, so you just want to see him make it, get this tittle, which turns out to be his first tittle, and have that happiness. And then, as this show is wont to do, Yanagihara comes around and steals the spotlight so readily. It's amazing, honestly. And by the end, I find myself not knowing who I want to win more, though it is probably still Shimada. The way that Shimada brings into attention how Yanagihara has such a support system here, and the way Yanagihara appears so confident and comfortable, is such a nice little clue (?) of the way he would come and steal the spotlight of the episode and just make you feel for him. It's kinda meta and I love it. Gosh, the imagery of Yanagihara being covered by all the expectations of those that came before him is so chilling and haunting. And that end card has to be one of my favorites so far. Change is so hard, and so scary, and I love that we have explored it from so many different perspectives in this show now. From Hina and Rei to Yanagihara now; it just never stops happening, and it never ceases to be nerve wracking and something that no one truly wants. And, thus, it continues to hit me really hard when it comes up. Especially because seeing someone you love struggle with their place in the world after they have being so independent and capable to do what they want is so incredibly hard and painful and nobody can prepare you for that, as nobody can prepare you for living it. Honestly, this arc has become one of my favorites... but that just equals it to the rest of the show, I guess XD

YES - it is honestly right up there and might be my favorite as well! Thank you for the comment!

This match is honestly one of my FAVORITES in the whole series! It’s so intense, but so fun,and to think between THESE TWO that the Chairman was worried would be too boring?! And the magic of this show is to take Shimada, who we did root for and then transition to seeing Yanigara’s struggle and want to root for him as well! But yes, so many meta moments and I really want them both to win, so what a conundrum we are in?! But yes, Shaft nails the haunting imagery! That end card is SO good as well! The idea of change, aging, and advancement and moving forward through the different “stages” of life is so important and I love how this show has illustrated it! I agree with so much of your second to last paragraph, there! But yes, this arc is soooooo good, but should we expect any less from this series? Thank you for the comment!
