I decided to do something with more of a close up view, so I could get a better idea of how to draw her hair. I'm working on another one of her, which should be done within the next few posts.

It feels like here body color is muted while her face is not. Is that like her face being lit up by the scroll I take it?

I see what you mean, it's just part of the style that I was trying to replicate. Usually the face is the only part of the body that has some sort of direct gradient (blushes on the cheeks), compared to the rest which don't normally have gradients except when the scene has intense lighting, and the character is viewed from a distance. I did add some to other parts of the body, but looking at it now, it looks like they were too subtle.

Amazing. You should consider a SFW pinup of Ruby in this style. But more of Ruby like this in general SFW or NSFW would be hype.
