Catching up with these reactions now that season 7’s coming out and it’s been great to watch! About your discussion at the end, while I agree that the civilians’ response wasn’t acceptable, you have to remember the pedestal that heroes were placed on during All Might’s era. Heroes, in the public eye, have literally never lost a fight before that war. All Might even clarifies back in Season 2, when he and Izuku are first discussing All for One, that the history textbooks don’t mention the time when All for One ruled because it could undermine trust in heroes. Underground heroes like Lady Nagant eliminated those on the inside that had the possibility to create a bad image. These people are largely byproducts of a society that made heroes seem like perfectly altruistic, unbeatable forces of nature that the entire peace of society rests upon. To them, the heroes failing, even once, feels like the end of the world. That’s why Uraraka’s speech is so important, it humanizes Deku (and heroes in general) to them. He shouldn’t have to be completely self-sacrificial; he can’t go back out there in his condition and win every fight by sheer force of will. Even if he’s got an amazing power, he’s just a normal kid. Anyways sorry for the paragraph on a year-old video lol. Excited to watch the new season with you!
