This is to quickly explain Rudues calmness in the sylphie reveal. This story is about Rudeus being given a 2nd chance at life by God in a different world. And in this life he is developing, becoming better, and actually growing up to become a great man unlike the depressed loser as he was in his past life. And during his journey of becoming a man we see he finally lost his virginity/gaining experience with women, gaining brotherhood, building testosterone, and gaining stoicism and frame. Therefore, it would kinda be out of character for him to jump in excitement of him seeing girl he knew back then. He was relieved but she was the emotional one and he was her rock in that moment.

Can we also appreciate how Rudy is slowly maturing, old rudy would of likely torn his clothes off in excitement that a girl confessed their love for him. Instead we see him being very respectful about giving Fitz her space in the cave, offering to step outside or build them a shelter to get undressed in, and then even once confessed to he didn't jump the gun, he's letting Sylphy spill her feelings onto him. He appears to be much more thoughtful and careful about his actions.

I think it was well written to be honest. It's easy for us viewers to say Sylphy should just reveal herself since we already know Rudy remembers her, but they don't know what we know. And I understand the princess just wanted to maximize the chance of Rudy remembering Sylphy. I do agree with Rudy's underwhelming reaction in finding out that Fitz is Sylphy.

The reason why Sylphy's reveal being drawn out feels weird is because her identity is a secret to the audience through most of the LN. It being weirdly drawn out is an anime thing. I don't read the LN but when I heard this it makes more sense. She also never tells the princess she used to have green hair so that's why she's confused as to why Sylphy thinks he won't remember her.

As I watched this a second time with you guys, I saw Rudy's calmness as a show of comfort. After going through so much and maturing. He's finally found comfort with Sylphy.

oh boy. It's been a while since I read this scene in the LN's. I can't really remember what Rudy said in that scene, but he did play down his excitement when the memory triggered him to remember this particular scenario. He held back cause he wanted to confirm that it really is Sylphy and sylphy became the most emotional one. In speaking of Sylphy, another reason why it dragged out this long to reveal herself was because under her guise as Fitz, she can SHOW rudy just how much she has grown as a person and how reliable and good listener she became throughout the years. Rudy fell in love with this new version of Fitz/Sylphy. With the help form Ariel, gave sylphy courage to reveal herself to Rudy, and additionally this gave her confidence to stand by him. She became the comforter/Support system to Rudy, someone he can lean on. He is emotionally excited but very passive since he lacks confidence at the moment due to his ED.
