I always wondered if you don't have the rights to the photos you shoot. If the shoot was funded by Treats wouldn't you guys have the distribution rights also?

Ok, just so we can put this to rest, finally. Yes we have the rights. We publish what the photographers send us in their edit, treats! is a magazine for photographers, so we respect their creative input along with the edit they send us. They do not send us hundreds of images. Sometimes, depending on the photographer they send a few extras in their final edit and not have space for them in print, and if we have a few extra we will add them here.

I didn't know that the post production was done by the photographers themselves. I always thought the togs just gave you the raw files and you finished them off inhouse.

It varies from photographer to photographer. Some photographers are very hands on while some outsource their retouching to professional retouchers. It all depends on what the work is for. I’m assuming that a lot of the work sent to Treats! is of more personal nature rather than for client work (not all cases) so the work would be handled from cradle to grave by the photographer.

As wonderful as Carmella is: it's moderately disappointing this set has been published in print and digital previously. Albeit some in B&W before.
