This episode blew my mind when I first watched it. I also knew nothing of the show when I watched it and I was convinced Kamina was the main character, cause I honestly wasn't paying that much attention the first time around and didn't notice the obvious death flags or how much Simon was the focus, but the show honestly just gets better and better the further it goes. Regarding your discussion at the very end, I do really love Kaminas character, as silly as it sounds, some of his speeches helped me out when I found myself in tough situation in my actual life. If I do try to look past my biases though then you are absolutely correct. He was flawed, and he was meant to be flawed. It actually ties very well into the themes and overall philosophy of the show, so I feel it's sorta ignorant to the show to ignore his flaws, since that undermines the core of the show. Anyway, glad you made it this far, since I always feel episode 4-7 are where people might drop the show since things slow down after 3 and this is the first "Wait what?" moment to really hook people.

I totally get and appreciate what you said! I think Kamina's speeches are really perfect for a person like Simon who needs someone to break them out of their shell by force. For that reason, it will help people who really need a firm awakening. It's really just a matter of how far he takes it that is where the flaws start to be shown, but I think it's totally legitimate to just like his character and leave it at that. If I wasn't make a video where I go in depth about my thoughts like this, I probably would have just gone "Nice, cool character!" and left it at that, hahaha.

Such a fantastic episode, Kamina's speeches in this episode were fantastic and Kyle Herbert absolutely killed it with the death scream from Kamina. There is plenty of evidence that Kamina briefly comes back from the dead in THIS episode. He dies after that initial scream and comes back when he says "Can't a guy get some sleep". But you can see that Kamina's cockpit never lights back up and on Leeron's readout screen Kamina's little person indicator thing never lights back up. But the change of "Believe in the me that believes in you" to "Believe in the you that believes in yourself". So great.
