Hello! As our following continues to grow, we've been hard at work coming up with more ideas for cool stuff to do in the new year. So here's what we've decided on.

First, we will begin streaming weekly on Thursdays. We're also gonna try to have two or all three of us on rather than just Josh whenever possible. To start, we're going to block out 6-9pm ET every Thursday, starting this week (the 12th). We're going to get started with Pentiment, as the stream last week got a lot of really good response and it will give us the opportunity to do a lot of silly voices. Follow us on Twitch if you're not there already and make sure to click the bell to be notified when we go live!

Second, we will add a new monthly show to the rotation once we hit 750 patrons. Josh is gonna anchor and edit this one; it'll be a one-on-one interview show where he talks with artists, authors, and directors about media that is meaningful to them and how it influenced the work they created. More details about guests and format will follow as we get closer to hitting our goal. And, of course, don't forget that at 1,000 patrons we're going to make a pilgrimage to Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs.

Third, we are going to do our first fully independent live show here in New York this spring. Details about date, venue, and subject matter to come, but it's gonna be a banger and we hope to see you there.

As always, let us know if you've got ideas for people we should talk to or subject matter you'd like us to cover. We look forward to continuing to endure the worst of all possible worlds with you all in 2023.

While we're at it, how about a poll: what media would you like to see us cover more of in 2023?

I'm just hoping you can somehow chase down Hbomberguy for a guest episode, I think it would be fun But also from what I know he lives in a cave in a mountain in the woods on an island in the sea or something, so good luck

Antho

I know this is probably an annoying reality for y’all, but if there was an weekly Whit’s Endless Summer feed, you could probably jack the rate up to $20/month on it and never lose me

Spencer Neil Campbell

Eventually you should have Scott Benson for a third time, that would be cool

For me the TWoAPW special sauce is when you're digging into how someone speaks through layers of storytelling and production - I enjoy hearing you talk about blatant reactionary media but those tend to speak very directly and superficially. fewer ridges on the blatant-reactionary noodles to hold the special sauce if you will

Y'all are better at critically examining narrative focused video games than most if not all video game focused podcasts and I'm always thrilled at game episodes but also as a kid who grew up Lutheran in the Midwest and who once played Diesel in a small town high school production of West Side Story, there's really not much y'all can do that I won't be delighted by.

Could you guys start saving the vods on twitch? I think it's just a setting you toggle, I love the streams but can never catch them live.

Ethan Ness

I'm here for one thing and one thing only and that's WHITS ENDLESS SUMMAAAA

The podcast I'd like most might actually be actively evil. You've described so much bad Evangelical media. . . how would you actually create a 'good' story for that world view? Like. . . what would a well done right wing rapture movie look like? There's enough inherent fear and absurdity that such a film could be possible in theory?

Allen

A deep dive on Young Life and/or Campus Crusa…I’m sorry, “Cru” would be pretty rad.

Q Who’s this even for A Me

Elizabeth Power

I went to crew in college once because the people invited me were nice, but something was off about it.

Earthbound Games

It was Hamlet that brought you into my feed, and AiO that made me a patron. Civ made me suggest you to other people, and Norman Jaden sold you to them. So, cover anything, I guess, and you'll be just fine. Oh, and keep going on other people's podcasts, I've found some new favorites that way.

BrianAlflordIsGoodActually

aj should force the other two to watch the emoji movie because i want to see you guys yell at each other over a film that manages to be even more disgustingly mediocre and coldly corporate than minions

William Brito

I would like an even deeper dive into whether it was actually the Challenger explosion in Minions or if it was “just a rocket” because that’s “how rockets explode”

Dergon

I like pretty much everything, but the evangelical stuff really hits close to home. If you ever wanna cover something a bit different but still batshit insane, I'm currently reading Jodorowsky's The Metabarons. Imagine if Star Wars was a turbo Greek tragedy and Luke thought the movie 300 was rules to raise your kid by, but maybe not harsh enough. Also a guy flies a spaceship with his dick.

There is a great Anthropologist/ Political Theorist/Philosopher named David Graeber. He is best known for his books, "Bullshit Jobs," "Debt: The First 5000 Years," and most recently, "The Dawn of Everything." If you haven't heard of him or read him before, I would highly recommend his long catalog of work (he also is featured on a lot of podcasts and has a number of lectures on YouTube). It would be interesting if you all were to integrate his work/perspective on the world into your analysis of pop-cultural phenomena, especially as your show hinges on the idea of a dying empire. Even if this comes out to be too complicated to integrate, I would still highly recommend check out his stuff. His work on bullshit jobs and our notion(s) of debt is highly fascinating and paradigmatically imperative.

Nancy Carr

Your takes on evangelical culture are unique and my favorite part of the show — especially your AIO episodes. But I also love the theater/movie/TV analyses. Thanks and happy new year!

Kapjak

Hope you guys eventually discuss the game Deadly Premonition

Langolier

I love everything you post, I had never even heard of Aio before your podcast and I grew up fairly religious, but as I am a sci fi fan could you guys do a few episodes of the Battlestar Galactica remake sometime. I recently rewatched it and wow is it heavily evocative of that era of writing. I especially was blown away by the "you can't trust voting", the "military always means best and can do horrible things and it's always right", and the "religious fundamentaists are right" recurring plot elements. Plus there are anti-abortion and anti union episodes that were so mind-blowing.

I'd like 3 things: Adventures in Odyssey, more Adventures in Odyssey, and some more Shakespeare film adaptations.
