[Pokémon Breeder in One Piece] Chapter 330 (Patreon)
Content
Late at night, under the World Tree, a large, ancient stone tablet appeared, covered in dense inscriptions.
Dak stood before it, carefully carving the stories that would define the legends of this place.
Beside him, Mew and Celebi floated, staring curiously at the depiction of their "past."
Dak spared no effort in crafting these tales, ensuring they exuded an air of authenticity, antiquity, and gravitas. Even the lettering was deliberately aged in style. If not for concerns about accessibility, he might have used ancient texts from his previous world.
[Excerpts from the Stone Tablet]
"In a time approximately 13,145,520 years ago, when the World Tree first sprouted from the earth, a mystical Pokémon was born alongside it.
This being possessed the power to instantly transform barren land into lush forests and to imbue all living things with vitality.
People of that era revered this entity as the 'Forest God' Celebi.
Celebi was a deity who loved peace, and thus, it never appeared during times of war. Instead, it traversed the rivers of time, searching for eras of harmony.
However, Celebi bore a great responsibility—to protect the World Tree, Yggdrasil, which sustained the ecosystem of Pokémon Island."
Celebi tilted its head in confusion, the tiny green onion-like creature looking thoroughly bewildered.
"Bi?" Celebi chirped, seemingly asking, "Have I really been alive this long? Is this truly my duty?"
Meanwhile, Mew was already impatient, hovering around Dak, urging him to write its part of the story.
"Mew!"
"Alright, alright, your turn," Dak chuckled, patting their heads.
[Continuation of the Tale]
"Over countless years, Celebi realized that safeguarding the World Tree amidst endless wars was an insurmountable task alone.
It sought a companion who shared its love for peace, nature, and life.
At the same time, born atop the World Tree's canopy was another mystical Pokémon, capable of transforming into any other Pokémon and wielding all their abilities.
This being was called the 'Ancestral God' Mew, a playful, innocent, and helpful entity.
Born together and sharing a home, Mew and Celebi regarded each other as family.
While Celebi searched for a partner, Mew bore witness to countless battles and the tragic deaths of Pokémon. Mew, too, resolved to find a companion—someone brave, righteous, kind-hearted, and altruistic—to stand alongside it, prevent conflict, and protect its friends.
The two deities thus began their search for Trainers worthy of their recognition.
Those chosen by Celebi were known as the 'Guardians of the World Tree', while those recognized by Mew were hailed as the 'Heroes of Aura'."
Mew squealed in delight, visibly thrilled with its role.
"Mew~" It immediately began plotting its quest to find an Aura Hero and "play" with them.
Satisfied with the content, Dak stepped back to admire the completed stone tablet.
The stories served not only as the foundation for the upcoming event but also as a filter. Those motivated purely by material rewards would likely be deterred since the event offered no explicit prizes.
However, the subtext implied that forging a bond with Mew or Celebi might grant one access to extraordinary powers—a tantalizing prospect for the truly worthy.
"Perfect," Dak murmured. The legends were in place; the reasons for the event established. Now, all that remained was to let the narrative spread naturally.
Unlike other events, Dak chose not to use the Pokémon Alliance's promotional machinery. He wanted the story to spread organically, through word of mouth, ensuring only those genuinely interested or destined would arrive.
"But we can't have no rewards at all," Dak mused, stroking his chin.
Titles like Aura Hero and World Tree Guardian were significant, but those entrusted with such monumental roles deserved tangible support.
"A legacy of unique abilities," Dak decided, nodding to himself.
The chosen ones would inherit the seeds of extraordinary powers, abilities befitting heroes who might one day stand against disaster.
To ensure the legitimacy of these powers, Dak conceptualized trials to test the candidates' virtues.
[The Trials]
Aura Hero's Trial: Tests for bravery, justice, kindness, and selflessness.
World Tree Guardian's Trial: Assesses one's love for peace, reverence for nature, and appreciation for life.
Dak planned for these trials to take place across all four cities of Pokémon Island, each trial designed to simulate real challenges.
For instance, the Aura Hero's trial might involve infiltrating a secret research facility guarded by powerful robots, retrieving a dangerous artifact capable of world destruction.
For this, Dak would commission Vegapunk to create robots—challenging yet beatable opponents.
Completing all the trials would take at least a week, but since the event was held only once every ten years, the duration seemed reasonable.
[Outcomes]
There were three possible results:
No suitable candidate: If Mew and Celebi found no one worthy, the event would conclude without a winner.
Candidate passes initial selection but fails trials: Such individuals would earn the title but not the associated abilities.
Candidate passes both selection and trials: They would receive their title and awaken unique abilities.
At the peak of the World Tree, Dak prepared two artifacts for the final stage:
Aura Staff: A staff containing the Aura Gem, capable of awakening the Aura ability.
Evergreen Tree: A mystical object imbued with Celebi's vitality, granting the inheritor the power of life energy.
Both items required immense energy to activate, necessitating contributions from Dak, Mew, Celebi, and other compatible Pokémon.
With everything in place, Dak stood atop the World Tree, gazing at the horizon.
"Let the legends begin," he murmured, smiling.
