[Pokémon Breeder in One Piece] Chapter 331 (Patreon)
Content
On Pokémon Island, only Dak was capable of wielding extraordinary powers, as this was a rule of the world.
Even though Esdeath could use a trace of psychic power, it was deemed insignificant because it had no offensive capability, allowing her to remain within the ordinary bounds set by the world's rules.
If Esdeath's psychic abilities ever reached a level capable of harming others, they would cross the threshold into the extraordinary, and she would no longer be allowed to use them in this world.
At that point, Esdeath would need to train her powers in other worlds instead.
Ordinary humans, at best, could only enhance their combat abilities with external scientific weapons. However, these technologies were often ineffective in the face of catastrophic events, mainly serving to maintain the island's daily security.
To give more meaning to the titles "Aura Guardian" and "Guardian of the Tree of Life," Dak began preparing tools for the chosen individuals to manifest their unique powers.
After consulting with the system, he created a rectangular stone table between the Staff of Aura and the Evergreen Tree, upon which a stone dagger rested.
Chosen individuals who awakened the powers of Aura and Evergreen were required to carve their names into the stone table and drip a drop of blood upon it. This ritual symbolized recognition by the world.
Once acknowledged, they could use Aura and Evergreen powers on Pokémon Island. However, only these two powers were permitted.
Using abilities from the worlds of seafaring or ninjas was strictly prohibited. This restriction was meant to prevent the chosen ones from abusing their power and causing chaos on Pokémon Island.
Nevertheless, the chances of such misconduct were slim, given the rigorous selection and trials involved.
"Well then, one week from now, you can start selecting the two most suitable candidates from among the people," Dak said to Mew and Celebi after finishing his preparations.
Mew nodded eagerly, clearly excited, while Celebi maintained a serious demeanor, as if burdened by a significant responsibility.
After establishing the trials and inheritance for the chosen ones, Dak left Yggdrasil.
This time, instead of leisurely traveling via high-speed train, he used the power of the Door-Door Fruit to teleport directly to the Alliance base.
It wasn't that he didn't care about the selection of the chosen ones, but rather, he had numerous pressing matters that couldn't be delayed.
Upon returning to the base, Dak barely had time to rest before heading to Pokémon Academy.
The second term at the academy had already been underway for a week, and both Principal Robin and Vice Principal Olvia had urged him repeatedly to make an appearance, as many of the new students were reportedly his fans.
Additionally, Fish-Man City and Angel City had submitted multiple requests to establish Alliance branch schools within their territories during this period.
Olvia was currently planning this endeavor, awaiting Dak's arrival for final decisions.
The Pokémon Academy was now bustling with activity. The vast campus had finally come to life.
The second term saw an enrollment of over ten thousand students, more than ten times that of the first term, ranging in age from eight or nine to their late twenties.
Instead of instantly teleporting to the principal's office, Dak chose to walk through the campus using the Door-Door space, observing the daily lives of the new students.
Walking openly would have quickly exposed his presence, causing a commotion he wasn't keen to face.
"When did the Pokémon Academy start having military drills?" Dak muttered as he stood on the academy's track field, glancing up at the pleasantly clear sky.
March in Alliance City brought mild sunlight and cool weather—perfect conditions for military training.
The training was conducted by naval officers, ranging from rear admirals to vice admirals, selected by Zephyr.
On the track field, the second-term students were jogging a kilometer at a steady pace.
A kilometer wasn't particularly exhausting for adults, especially at a slow pace. However, considering the many ten-year-olds in the classes, the distance was set accordingly.
As Pokémon Trainers, having good physical fitness was essential—not necessarily for combat, but for survival in the wild. Poor physical health could spell disaster if they accidentally stumbled into a Beedrill nest.
As a result, physical education at Pokémon Academy was as vital as core academic subjects like math, language, and science in the previous world.
"Can Kaya handle this kind of training?"
From the Door-Door space, Dak observed a blonde girl jogging with visible difficulty, concern evident on his face.
Kaya, a frail young lady from Syrup Village in the East Blue and Usopp's childhood friend, had always been sickly. Though her father had purchased a special item at an auction to cure her illness, years of being bedridden had left her physically weak.
After just 500 meters, Kaya was already out of breath, her lips pale.
Her concerned partner, Mareep—an electric-type Pokémon and one of the Alliance's starter Pokémon—accompanied her closely.
The track field was enormous, with a kilometer making up only a quarter of the full circuit.
The academy itself was modeled after the Infinite Stratos Academy, a mecha training institution with a vast track field designed for students to conduct simulation training. Naturally, the scale was impressive.
However, even this grand space seemed insufficient for the second-term Pokémon Academy students, given their sheer numbers.
Olvia had evidently noticed this and implemented staggered training sessions across different areas.
As Dak moved to the battle grounds, he confirmed this arrangement.
Unlike the track field, the battle grounds were specifically designed for combat, devoid of unnecessary features like tracks.
Here, students were practicing basic drills, such as standing at attention and marching in unison.
These exercises weren't meant to train combat skills but to instill discipline, making future instruction more efficient.
"Hm?"
As Dak observed the students, he noticed a surprising number of children from the ninja world among them.
Characters like Shikamaru, Neji, Lee, Tenten, and Sakura—the iconic twelve genin—were present, along with many others from various ninja villages.
In his memory, only Naruto, Hinata, and Sasuke had joined the academy. The presence of so many others was clearly a result of altered history.
In these drills, the students from the different worlds showed little distinction. Some were diligent, while others slacked off.
For example, Kuzan's apprentice, Grant, displayed excellent discipline, having trained under the navy for some time.
In contrast, Prince Mamoru from Ryugu Kingdom, a hyperactive boy, struggled to stay focused, constantly disrupting the training.
The ninja world's students were similar. Sasuke, despite his aloof demeanor, followed instructions diligently, striving to excel and earn his brother's praise.
Meanwhile, Shikamaru and Kiba, naturally mischievous, avoided serious training, inevitably ending up punished with squats or frog jumps.
Interestingly, Mamoru and Kiba bonded over their shared disdain for discipline, becoming fast friends.
"It seems there will be many interesting stories unfolding here," Dak mused, watching the interactions.
The collision of characters from different worlds, combined with the presence of Pokémon, was already creating fascinating dynamics within the academy.
For instance, Ino and her partner Pokémon, Buneary, often gushed over handsome boys. However, Ino seemed uninterested in Sasuke, favoring more aloof and edgy personalities.
Similarly, Nami stood out among the ninja students, captivating the younger boys with her charm. Though she lacked a "goddess complex," Nami frequently had her Shinx use Discharge to keep her admirers at bay.
After observing for a while, Dak headed to the principal's office.
Upon entering, he emerged from the Door-Door space, startling Olvia.
"Must you always make such dramatic entrances?" Olvia complained.
"Sorry, I'm just too popular," Dak quipped, brushing his bangs aside with a grin.
"..."
Rolling her eyes, Olvia handed him a plan.
"What's your opinion on establishing branch schools?" she asked.
Though Dak lacked expertise in this area, Olvia had prepared a detailed plan, anticipating his limited input.
"Why not include university-level departments in the branch schools?" Dak inquired after skimming the plan.
"It's unnecessary," Olvia replied. "We don't even have university students in the main campus yet. There's no point in setting up university departments elsewhere. Angel City's population is small, and Fish-Man City's environment isn't suitable for most people. The branch schools will primarily cater to local residents."
Her primary concern, unspoken, was maintaining the prestige of the Pokémon Academy as the highest educational institution in Alliance City.
