Early the next morning, Gwen arrived at Eren's doorstep with breakfast in hand.

Fresh from his morning jog in the park and halfway through a shower, Eren heard the doorbell. He quickly dried his damp hair, changed into a loose outfit, and went downstairs to open the door.

"Good morning, Eren."

"Good morning, Gwen," he replied, smiling.

Gwen shook the bag of food in her hand with a cheerful grin. "You haven't had breakfast yet, right? I brought two servings of freshly baked magic bread from Alice's Bakery, plus some of their pudding. They're amazing!"

"Really? Looks like I'm in for a treat today!"

After inviting Gwen into his home, Eren noticed she had arrived half an hour earlier than expected and commented with a chuckle.

Alice's Bakery was a renowned establishment in the heart of Queens, famous for its delicious bread. Unlike other bakeries that expanded aggressively once they became popular, Alice's Bakery had only one storefront and resisted offers to franchise.

Rumor had it the owner believed that opening more locations would compromise the quality of their bread, so they focused solely on their original shop. Others speculated that the bakery didn't need the extra money and simply wanted to avoid the hassle.

Regardless of the reason, the bakery's exclusivity, combined with its outstanding bread, created a scarcity effect that only enhanced its reputation. Even Eren, who wasn't particularly fond of bread, had heard plenty of buzz about the place.

It was said that freshly baked bread from Alice's was often snapped up immediately by long lines of eager customers. Many spent hours waiting, only to leave empty-handed.

Their magic bread, in particular, was the bakery's signature item, notorious for being hard to obtain. Gwen must have queued for a long time to secure two portions, and this thoughtful gesture moved Eren, making him almost feel guilty about his plans for her.

Walking through the impeccably clean and well-organized first floor of Eren's home, Gwen followed him upstairs to the dining area.

She had expected Eren's place to be messy and chaotic, as was typical of most young men living alone. But to her astonishment, his home was even cleaner and tidier than her own.

What surprised her even more was the dining table on the second floor. It was laid out with seven or eight types of freshly made, aromatic, and beautifully presented Chinese breakfasts.

"Wow, Eren, is this your breakfast? It looks amazing," Gwen exclaimed in surprise.

Pointing at a basket of translucent shrimp dumplings, she added, "I recognize these! They're a type of Chinese cuisine, right? I think they're called 'dumplings.' They look beautiful."

She spoke the word "dumpling" in Chinese, albeit with a slightly imperfect accent.

Eren, impressed, gave her a thumbs-up. "Nice! These are called shrimp dumplings, a type of dumpling. Not only do they look good, but they're also delicious. Try one!"

He went into the kitchen, retrieved a new set of utensils, and handed them to Gwen.

"Don't mind if I do!"

Gwen graciously accepted the utensils and deftly picked up a dumpling with chopsticks, her skillful handling of them suggesting she was no stranger to Chinese food. Eren decided against offering her a crash course on using chopsticks.

"Phew..."

Blowing lightly on the dumpling to cool it, Gwen placed it into her mouth. Her eyes closed in bliss as she savored the burst of flavorful broth and the springy texture of the shrimp filling.

When she reopened her eyes, now sparkling with delight, Eren asked with a smile, "How is it?"

"It's amazing! This is the best dumpling I've ever had," Gwen praised earnestly before glancing at the table. "Did you make all of this?"

"Of course not. Aside from the eggs I fried and the porridge I cooked, the rest came from a breakfast shop in Chinatown," Eren admitted.

Preparing such a variety of dishes himself would have taken far too long, and he didn't have that kind of time or energy. Besides, he wasn't short on money. It was much more convenient to buy them.

"Oh, I see!" Gwen breathed a subtle sigh of relief.

This was more reasonable. If Eren really had the ability to make such elaborate breakfasts, it would have put her basic skills in making toast and simple Western dishes to shame.

After sharing the diverse array of Chinese breakfasts with Eren at the table, Gwen rubbed her now-rounded belly and thought sheepishly, Oh no, how did I eat so much?

Eren, noticing her embarrassment, didn't tease her. Instead, he opened the bag of breakfast she had brought, took out a beautifully packaged piece of bread, and tried it.

Having eaten only a third of his own breakfast, Eren's appetite had recently increased significantly, and he still wasn't full.

The moment he opened the packaging, a delightful aroma of milk and wheat filled the air, instantly reigniting his hunger.

He took a bite of the bread, and his eyes lit up.

Alice's Bakery's magic bread truly lived up to its reputation. Even someone like Eren, who wasn't particularly into bread, found it delicious.

Good food was meant to be shared, especially something Gwen had gone to great lengths to buy. However, when Eren offered her a piece of the bread, she adamantly refused, shaking her head vigorously.

After breakfast, Eren led Gwen, who had rested briefly, to his room on the third floor. From his wardrobe, he retrieved the tools he used for his persona as a wandering fortune-teller.

Gwen's eyes lit up at the sight of the mysterious items.

"Wow! These are the tools from the video, right?"

Eren chuckled. "That's right. They'll help us divine the method to remove Helen's scar."

With a plan already in mind, Eren picked up a crystal ball from the tools and began the divination process with Gwen.

Soon, to Gwen's astonishment, a clear image slowly formed within the crystal ball.

The vision depicted a sprawling textile factory.
