Dak's dazzling performance served as a clear demonstration of the format for the Coordination Contest's first-round performance stage.

Sitting as judges were:

Stella, the general manager of Friendly Shop

Perona, the chief judge

The director of Yggdrasil's Pokémon Center

"10 points! As expected from our Alliance leader, a perfect score from all three judges on the first performance. But seriously, was there no favoritism involved here?"

Tezolo's charismatic hosting added a humorous twist, openly poking fun at Dak.

The audience roared with laughter.

Everyone understood the implied joke—giving the Alliance leader and two mythical Pokémon anything less than perfect scores might be career suicide within the Alliance.

"That said, it was genuinely stunning!"

"Absolutely. The visual effects weren't just about using moves—it required an incredible level of skill mastery."

"Who knew combining moves could produce something this beautiful?"

"Double battles from the tournaments had combo moves too, but they never looked this elegant."

"This Coordination Contest is way more interesting than the battle tournaments!"

The audience quickly grasped the appeal of the performance stage, sparking lively discussions.

Backstage, however, the participants were under immense pressure.

Dak's performance had set the bar sky-high, drastically raising the difficulty of scoring well in the contest.

But this wasn't Dak's concern.

"You can start now. Make sure to stay hidden and avoid being seen," Dak instructed Mew and Celebi as they walked down a corridor backstage.

"Mew~"
"Bi!"

With that, the two mythical Pokémon vanished.

Dak detoured to a dark corner of the audience area, observing the stage performances and keeping an eye on the duo's selection process.

The opera house's lighting focused on the stage, leaving the audience area in darkness. This made it difficult for anyone to notice Dak.

Mew and Celebi's Search

Mew and Celebi had completely different styles when it came to finding their chosen ones.

Mew zipped around the venue, inspecting people based solely on intuition. Its carefree approach had no apparent method or structure—it simply followed its whims.

Celebi, on the other hand, was methodical, floating directly in front of people's faces to peer into their eyes. This was where Celebi's unique ability came into play—one not shown in the Pokémon animations.

By locking eyes with someone, Celebi could glimpse significant moments from their past and future, using these insights to judge their character.

Mew's Discovery

As Mew darted around, it sensed a pair of eyes fixed on it.

Though Dak was monitoring them through psychic senses, these weren't his eyes.

The oddity lay in the fact that Mew was in an invisible state, undetectable to ordinary people unless they met specific conditions:

A pure heart.

A strong sense of justice or kindness.

A deep, genuine desire to see Mew.

Mew's approach to selection was simple—it looked for people who could see it. Anyone meeting these criteria was likely to have the qualities needed to be an Aura Guardian.

Despite circling the venue several times, Mew couldn't locate the source of the gaze. Instead, it repeatedly encountered what appeared to be a large black mushroom in the crowd.

"Meow?"

Confused, Mew poked the "mushroom."

"Need some help?"

"Meow?!"

Startled, Mew realized the "mushroom" was actually a human—a man with a mushroom-shaped haircut dressed in deep green tights.

"You're the Pokémon who performed with the Alliance leader earlier, aren't you? That was an amazing show!"

The man, Guy, grinned widely and gave Mew a thumbs-up.

Mew tilted its head, intrigued by the man's infectious enthusiasm.

Deciding on a whim, Mew tugged on Guy's hair, signaling him to follow.

"Eh? Where are we going? I haven't finished watching the performances. I spent 18 hours of blood, sweat, and tears to get these tickets!"

Mew ignored his complaints, leading him and his Riolu out of the opera house. Before leaving, Mew turned to Dak's direction and gave a playful wink.

"Guy, huh? Not surprising," Dak mused, recalling Guy's deep bond with his Riolu and his aura potential.

Celebi's Dilemma

Celebi, being more analytical, was torn between two candidates.

The first was Otohime, the former queen of Ryugu Kingdom and current mayor's wife.

From Otohime's memories, Celebi saw a woman who loved life, peace, and her people. Her selflessness and willingness to sacrifice for the greater good made her an ideal candidate for the World Tree Protector.

The second candidate was a young girl attending the contest with her parents.

The girl dreamed of becoming a realist painter and loved capturing the beauty of nature and life in her sketches.

While the girl shared Otohime's love for life, it stemmed from her artistic passion rather than an innate desire to protect.

However, there was a troubling detail in the girl's memories—her fascination with conflict. She would excitedly sketch battles between wild Pokémon, showing no particular desire for peace.

Celebi's heart leaned toward the girl, whose innocent and carefree personality aligned with its own.

But rationally, Otohime was the stronger candidate. With the power of the Evergreen Force, Otohime would undoubtedly use her abilities to heal and help countless people and Pokémon.

In contrast, the girl would likely only use the power sporadically, offering help to those she encountered by chance.

Celebi hovered in place, conflicted.

"Bi…"
'What should I do?'
