Genjutsu Communication!
A technique that transcends time and space, allowing individuals from different locations to interact in a specific dimension through genjutsu.
This unique technique can only be used if pre-applied, enabling long-distance communication. In the entire ninja world, only Jigen has mastered it.
Victor sensed Jigen's summons and his expression changed slightly. In the next instant, his consciousness was transported to a special dimension.
Gathered in this space were Victor, Deepa, other Inner members of Kara, and their nominal leader—Jigen.
"There's been quite a stir in the ninja world lately. Can anyone explain what's going on?"
Seated elegantly, Jigen addressed the members with a calm yet commanding tone:
"I don't want any surprises disrupting our plans, especially now, when we're so close to harvesting the fruit."
The "vessel" had been located, and the Kāma had been successfully implanted. All that remained was for the vessel to acclimate to its powers, after which Jigen would reincarnate into the body and feed his current form to the Ten-Tails, creating the Chakra Fruit.
Just a few more years...
At this critical juncture, Jigen could not afford any interference.
"I'm not too sure about the specifics," Amado replied in a measured tone. "Lately, I've been engrossed in my research, so I haven't had the chance to gather information. That said, Konoha seems to be working on integrating ninjutsu into scientific tools—an interesting development that aligns with some of the data we've provided. It might be worth monitoring."
The Outer members of Kara had connections to nobles and officials across the Five Nations. By leveraging lofty ideals and promises of profit, Kara had recruited numerous individuals to funnel resources into their organization.
Kara's technological advancements were unparalleled in the ninja world.
"Classified information from the Five Great Nations isn't easy to come by, but it's unlikely to affect our plans," said Koji Kashin, his voice calm behind his mask.
"Out of curiosity, I visited the Five Great Nations recently," he continued. "Iwagakure and Kirigakure have suffered significant damage. Kirigakure is even in the midst of rebuilding, along with much of the Land of Water."
"The entire country was attacked? That seems extreme. The Five Great Nations are allied now—attacking one is akin to attacking all five. Who in the ninja world has the strength to pull that off besides us?" Deepa's tone was casual, a reflection of her confidence in her own immense power, which had surpassed that of any Kage after countless battles.
"Koji, do you know who's responsible?" Jigen asked, his voice steady.
Koji replied, "Not yet, but it shouldn't be difficult to find out. We could start by investigating those who support us. With your permission, I'll recruit a few more Outer members—they should be eager to help."
"Very well. Bring in two more Outer members. I'll leave this matter to you, Koji."
"There's one more thing," Koji continued. "During my travels, I heard that Konoha has taken an interest in us. Apparently, their shinobi were seen in the Land of Silence, probing for information about Kara."
Victor's heart skipped a beat at this revelation, though he maintained a composed expression.
"Is that so? Have we been exposed?"
Koji tilted his head slightly, his gaze falling on Victor. "I'm not sure. But, Victor-san, the Land of Silence is near the Land of Valleys. Have you received any intelligence?"
Victor replied coolly, "No, but I'll look into it once I return. If Konoha's shinobi are indeed investigating us, Deepa and I will handle them."
"Good. For now, our priority is cultivating the vessel. As long as there's no threat to its development, everything else can be ignored."
With that, Jigen's form dissolved into data-like fragments, followed by the disappearance of the other Inner members. Before leaving the genjutsu space, Victor cast a wary glance at Koji.
Back at his base, Victor let out a frustrated curse. "Damn that Koji! When did he show up in the Land of Silence and notice anything?"
Deepa entered the room, her previously relaxed demeanor now replaced with a serious expression.
"I don't think they've caught on to what we're doing yet. But what about Konoha? How do you plan to handle them?"
"In just one month, the Divine Tree will bear fruit. Once I consume it, I'll be untouchable. I might even wrest the vessel and the Divine Tree away from Jigen. Once the true Chakra Fruit is harvested, it'll be ours alone to share. Neither Jigen nor that masked man will stand a chance!"
Deepa cautioned, "If you don't intend to share with the masked man, you'd better prepare in advance. His space-time abilities..."
Thinking of Yoichi's Kamui clone, Deepa frowned. In their first encounter, none of her attacks had landed, as though striking air.
"Don't worry," Victor said. "I have a rough understanding of his abilities. When the time comes, I'll deal with him. For now, keep an eye on the Divine Tree. I'll arrange for an additional sacrifice."
At the Ninja Academy, Boruto arrived with his usual boundless energy.
After resolving the Nue incident involving their class representative, Sumire, Boruto had started feeling that ninja life wasn't all that impressive—especially since he had solved something no one else had noticed.
"Morning!"
Boruto greeted his classmates as he entered the room, noticing Inojin and Shikadai whispering with Sarada nearby. Curious, he approached.
"What are you guys talking about? So secretive. Sarada, why are you involved too?"
Shikadai shot Boruto a warning glance and lowered his voice.
"Keep it down, Boruto! This involves Sarada, and it's something sensitive. Don't draw attention."
He then pulled Boruto closer and explained, "Do you remember when Ino and Sakura tried to trick Sai? Sarada told us about it."
Boruto scratched his head. "Oh yeah, that. But didn't it turn out to be a misunderstanding? Not really a ninja matter—it was kind of boring, so I forgot most of it."
Shikadai shook his head. "It wasn't resolved. Sai and Ino's relationship hasn't improved. In fact, just yesterday, Ino asked Inojin who he'd choose to stay with if his parents separated."
"What? That's terrible!" Boruto exclaimed, only for Shikadai to clamp a hand over his mouth.
"Idiot! Keep your voice down! Do you want the whole class to know about Inojin's troubles?"
"Sorry, sorry," Boruto whispered. "But isn't that really bad? Are Sai and Ino's issues that serious?"
"They argue every time they meet. Last time, they even fought over my ninjutsu training," Inojin sighed. "If Mom hadn't said that yesterday, I wouldn't be so stressed now."
"So, what do we do? Should we tell my mom? She and Ino are close," Sarada suggested.
Shikadai nodded. "Not yet. Sarada, try to bring it up casually, but don't let your mom know about Ino. If we're mistaken, we don't want to create problems."
He then turned to Inojin. "After school, we'll check out Ino's behavior. Too bad Sai isn't in the village. Talking to him directly would've been easier."
"Got it. Thanks, Shikadai. I'm counting on you!" Inojin said earnestly.
"No big deal. Let's just gather some intel first," Shikadai replied.
During lunch break, the group reconvened, delving deeper into their investigation of Ino. Inojin recounted a curious incident:
"Other than arguing with Dad, nothing stands out... except, Sakura visited our house recently and asked why Mom goes to Yoichi's shop so often. Is Mom sick?"
"Yoichi's shop? Is that in Konoha?" Shikadai wondered.
"I think so. My dad mentioned it once," Boruto chimed in. "Why don't we just skip class and check it out?"
"Skip class? Can't it wait until after school? If we skip, Shino-sensei will definitely come after us," Sarada protested, ever the diligent student.
Boruto shrugged. "Schoolwork isn't a big deal. Helping Inojin is more important. Besides, we're not learning anything groundbreaking here."
Shikadai sighed. "Boruto's right, but not all of us need to go. Boruto, Inojin, and I will handle this. Sarada, Chocho, you two distract Shino-sensei."
With their plan set, the group prepared to delve into the mystery surrounding Ino and Yoichi's shop.
