So, I am looking to give you all a chance for a bit more for your patronage! But for that I really need your input! Is there anything else you would like to see offered here? Full PSD Files? Tutorials? Time lapse Videos? Streams for Patrons? Character or artist Q&As? Any other ideas I might be missing? I'd love to offer more but I really need to hear what you all think! In addition to this there are a couple future project I would like to do which I'd like to gauge your interest in; -The first would be an adult mini-comic involving Lamashtu and Pazuzu, good ol' demon smut! :P Since I've not reached the mile stone for fully illustrated comics, this would probably be done in small parts and in b&w or flat colour. -The second would be something of a world building pack for Shi'Imora, Including 3 maps. Some illustrated info on the mythos behind it as well as work on the Ancient Shi'Imoran language and Alphabet. I initially created this Patreon to help give be time to build the world and it's characters, but I'd like to know how interested people would be in something like this? -And finally, are people happy with this being pay per illustration at the rate I currently post? Or would you prefer it as a monthly thing instead? Thanks for taking the time to read through this and for any input and discussion! <3

I am going to respond to the last question first. I think people prefer monthly, because then it occurs at regular intervals, though it seems you are averaging about one illustration per month or every other month from the little bit of time I have been a Patron. This being said, if you are going to offer PSD's and tutorials in addition to the high resolution files and other perks, it might be recommended to move to a monthly option and start uploading more of your older pieces of artwork. This might also entice more people to become patrons. I know a lot of patrons really want something for their money, and I know multiple artists post 1-3 High resolution files per month from their older works including anything current in which the high resolution files fall into about 5 USD. Or there are artists like TheOwlette, who will slowly upload selected pieces from before her creation of a Patreon with a few pieces per week until she is caught up. I know Tojo-the-thief also makes High Res files available for 1 USD while offering a lot more to her Patrons at higher levels. It is primarily up to you, but I would also explore other artists Patreons to see if anything sparks your interest :3

Okay, here we go: First batch of questions; I think those are all great ideas! As someone who's been using Photoshop (and other photo/drawing apps) since before they had layers, I love the opportunity to get to see a talented artist's layered files. They can teach SO much about how something is done. Tutorials would also be amazing. I would desperately like to improve my skills, but often get stuck with the simplest things. For Q&A, that could be fun as well, but I would suggest not limiting that to Patreon as I think all your fans would enjoy that sort of thing. :) For the mini-project thing, I'd be most interested in the Shi'lmora stuff. As someone who's poured many long hours into character creation, racial histories and yes, even language (and woo! So cool to see someone else doing that) - I'd love to get a look at some of that. ^_^ A big reason I wanted to back you on Patreon was the hopes that it would allow more time for such creation. Lastly - I very much like the way you're doing your patron stuff. Per-image is more logical than monthly. Patreon allows the user to set a maximum so there's no worries for the users that they're potentially going to be spending more than they plan. As the artist, the best thing to do would be to set a limit for yourself so that you're not cranking out a dozen things a month if there's only gonna be cash coming for the first 2 on average.

I think I am happy with the payment option as it stands, fits in well with my financials. As for world building? Sure! Give me all the background and such, including maps. :D

As I'm not a visual artist I'm not sure if I would benefit from PSDs or tutorials so I can't really comment on those, though time lapses are always neat to see! Patron streams might be a good idea, but I'd feel bad if you were hosting them and a lot of us simply aren't able to or don't show up, so those can go either way. Character & artist Q&A's can be pretty fun, I'd be sure to participate in those a bit! I'm drawing a blank right now for other ideas, but wanted to mention I really like the voting system you've got in place now for both the comic and the individual pieces. As for comics, I'd certainly like to see whatever you'd be interested in doing! I'm not all that familiar with your characters yet, so I can't say much about who you pick in particular :P As for world building, yes please! I love seeing world building stuff, how people construct theirs and all the awesome ideas that go into them, gives me a bit of inspiration to work some more on my own headworld stuff on the side too :3 So far I think I'd be fine with either the current system or monthly, I don't really have a strong preference for one or the other yet. Also, thank you for being so active on your Patreon page! I know it can be a little secondary to other things at times, but the more activity there is on patreon, the more people it's sure to draw.

I can't think of anything else specifically I'd like to see; streams in particular work poorly for me for scheduling reasons. Both the project ideas sound interesting, but the world building pack would probably be more so for me; I love to see interesting world building, especially if its well presented. Finally, I prefer pay-per-illustration to the monthly version.

Yeah, the main reason I initially chose to do it per illustration rather than per month or so, is because I am not the most prolific artist, I'm not putting out a huge amount of art per month or so ( never mind per week). I try to focus more on quality than quantity, and i know aside from posting files from old stuff, that I'm not likely to have more "new" stuff to post than say, two illustrations a month, tops. That said, as you say, I can continue to pad things out with other rewards, files, and content. Thanks again for your in depth input, I really appreciate it, as I'd like to offer as much as possible for your kindness <3

Trust, me, I appreciate the time you spend towards quality, it makes the art feel more worth it and deliberate rather than just trying to make a quick buck. That being said, there is a point where one can attain both speed and quality, though at the cost of some detailing. FluffKevlar is a great example, in my opinion, of someone who both has profound quality and a moderate good tempo when it comes to commissions. That being said there is a style difference which allows for this, because while still seeming semi-realistic, on the lower end, there are qualities that make it less detailed. You seem to lean more to, not necessarily hyper-realism, but definitely more realism in terms of style. Speed comes with time as an artist grows, even I have noticed that I am getting better at knowing how to blend colors without making preset lines so to speak, to direct highlights and shadows. I follow a variety of artists here on Patreon, I would recommend a quick peruse of their pages and styles. You an ShinigamiGirl seem the most comparable in terms of style and production, but that is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, as it were. But whatever you decide, you will maintain my support, for as long as I can manage with this year being my last of University, so lots of life changes heading my way.

Yeah, looking at the layered psd files can be a really useful tool, outside of tutorials and such, they provide a surprising amount of insight. :) I had some Q&As through my Tumblr (which oops I need to play catch up with that) and found them really fun. I don't think I would limit them entirely to Patreon, but maybe find some way to do something a little special with them, but that might need a little creative brainstorming on my part :3 And I am really happy to see people interested in the world building stuff for Shi'Imora. I am kind of a geek with this stuff and have so many notes, maps and things I started on for it which few people have seen and I really want to start sharing. ^_^

*nodsnods* Aye, PSDs provide HUGE insight to those of us trying to learn how things might be accomplished. As for being a geek - ditto. :P For a RP done with some other friends, I created maps, 30+ pages of racial history and information, and a language 'cause.... why not!? XD Love stuff like that, and would be enthralled to see what you've come up with.

Thanks hun :) And well hopefully I can work those in soon ^_^ I already have a lot of the maps done :3

2021-08-08 22:15:12 Well I am so very late (as usual) with this questionnaire, but I'll add my thoughts. Many good things and ideas are said already, but I think your current "pay-by-Patreon-specific-HQ-piece" -system works quite nicely. Paying one of the higher tiers made me first think it could be too costly, but this one or two high quality pieces per month works fine. Also if it feels like per pic motivates you working more, than a fixed monthly amount, it's even better~ As others, I'm all in for the world building as well! I'd love to see more of your world's places and denizens <3 The demon smut comic would be more "comic like" than the Pond Liaison, which is more like illustration series, I presume? From what I've seen your comic style sketches, I could say big YES to this idea too :P The Q&As seem like stuff which interest people and I could come up with some as well *is a curious sergal after all*! Having the PSD-files/time lapses would be neat. Since some of my friends draw, I could show them the files (providing they won't share them forward). But maybe this reward would fit better if you'd work with the monthly fee? I mean can peeps just start supporting you and download all the stuffs, then cancel their support, before you post your next art and they'll walk home with everything free? If it works that way, I think monthly fee is registered right when you start supporting? For the other ideas; maybe you could do some small "Patreon supporter cameos" to sketches/doodles/pics/scenes you create? Maybe choose them by raffle or supporters who comment, etc.?
