One of my all-time favorite finales of the 2020’s! (That may sound dismissive, but I watch a lot of tv). I still get chills during that last scene, and the song that plays over it: with the lyrics ‘I never loved her’. And just for an Emmy catch-up, the first season won Best Actress for Smart, AND best directing AND writing for a comedy series. And yes, Paul Downs (aka Jimmy) is a creator/producer and writer as well, so he co-won the Emmy for writing for S1. He also just got his first acting Emmy nom for S3! Jean Smart won Best Actress for S2 as well! The only win I want for S3 is Hannah Einbinder/Ava. She’s been nominated for all 3 seasons, but this finale is where she really stepped up. My favorite supporting tv performance of the year, after a second re-watch.
