One of the best hours of television, ever. Period. Can't wait for you to begin season 2, expect this level of quality throughout. In case you didn't know, the first season is based off a book by Tom Perotta, while seasons 2 and 3 are completely original, and the direction they take the story after this season finale is just perfect.

I'm not religious either, but I do enjoy a good religious metaphor to expand on character story arcs. It's interesting that Patty is essentially a sacrifice in snow white fleece and Kevin ends up baptised in the (holy?) water of a reverend. Some people have likened Patty's last moments where she looks straight at Kevin and says "I see you, Kevin. You don't have to hide from me." as taken from the Bible verses about there being no hiding place from god. I suppose the insinuation is that in that moment it could be interpreted as god directly speaking to Kevin through Patty.... or she's just a fucking nut and tries to pantomime that. Who knows!?
