Thought I'd give a little more info to clear things up for you. First of all, it was Terry Pratchett who sadly died in 2015 at age 66, due to early-onset Alzheimer's. He and Neil had been trying to get Good Omens made for many years. It was almost a movie in the 90's, starring Johnny Depp and Robin Williams. The negotiations leading up to this show took so long that unfortunately Terry never got to see it, but he had left a posthumous letter to Neil telling him to not give up and to get it done. Neil was very open about the first season, the direct adaptation of their book, being a homage and fulfilled promise to his friend. At the premier Terry's famous hat, his scarf, and a box of popcorn was sitting in the seat next to Neil. Now, as to the continuation of the story, they started talking about that very early on, but never got around to actually writing it. This sequel we book fans have known about for a long time, with little snippets of ideas and plot being mentioned here and there over the years. This story will (hopefully) be season three. Season two, the bridge season, exists so that Neil can set the board, getting all the characters where they need to be. A book sequel can just pick up years later, explaining things as it goes, but a TV show is generally better showing the flow of the story and not just jumping forward, then having to waste screen time catching people up. Season two is, in Neil's own words, "quiet and gentle and romantic." He has actually already written the first episode of season three, and the last fifteen minutes of the last episode (in case he gets hit by a bus, he said). This ending he and Terry finalised in 2006. Book fans are hoping it will still include Crowley and Aziraphale in their South Downs cottage, which was first mentioned many, many years ago.

Ack, sorry for the wall of text in my other comment. I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a new paragraph on my tablet. Sorry!
