This week was the time that I've waited for so long. Not only did I officially complete Animation Lookback: The Muppets, but I also created my tribute to my favorite Disney attraction, Muppet*Vision 3D. It will be bittersweet to no longer work on the Muppets' history and research how they're projects got made, but it's been quite a fun journey that did made me try new things and let me play around with puppetry with my own Puppet AniMat. At the same time, as I was concluding my work on that, I was also planning out what will be ahead of me for this month. I've made some changes and a bit of sacrifices, but this will be for the best for myself and for my upcoming project. So here's what's been going on after Easter.

  • Released the Final Part of Animation Lookback: The Muppets: Another Animation Lookback is officially complete with a major grand finale that I've waited a long time to create. I've been holding on to that footage that I've filmed at Disney's Hollywood Studios for a whole year now, and even had to make a few adjustments to it like doing some ADR on that intro so that my voice is clear when I was next to the ride. Because of my love for this attraction, I went in with the motivation to create the greatest video about the history of Muppet*Vision 3D that you will ever find on the Internet. Admittedly, the hardest thing to do was to find behind the scenes clips of Jim Henson making MV3D. I went across the internet to look for it, asked forums where to find it (I even asked Brian Jay Jones and even he has no idea), but I didn't get much luck, so I only worked with what I could find. Still , I'm very satisfied with how this finale turned out and how this series turned out to be great. After all these years of making videos related to the Muppets, I don't think I'll ever top what I've done with this inclusion of AL. As for the big question for what is next, I've been asked many times about that for weeks, but the big reveal at the end is that the next series will be Animation Lookback: Blue Sky Studios. I'll say now that there are still some other projects I'd like to work on this year, so there may be a chance that production will start in 2025. Either way, I'm taking a break from Animation Lookback and will get started on some new exciting projects coming in 2024.

  • Created the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: While I've had other errands to work on during the week (including the podcast), the main thing I've worked on was the next ACR. After creating that final part, I got something to get back to my critic side and have a refresher to analyze some animated movies. Also, I needed to jump back into this because I don't have any upcoming ACRs prepared, so this production had to get started at some point. It took some time where I kept going on and off of it to take care of other stuff, but I wanted to make sure I can get this cleared off and have it be ready for this month. Don't worry, this still turned out to be a great review, especially when I'm using this as my first true experience with the franchise I'll be talking about. As you're reading this, there may be a few more things I have to do to this review to make sure it's all set, but I do feel like I'm getting back to being ahead with my work.

  • Filming the Final Collab Videos with Rachel: After a few weeks with our project of listing what we consider to be the 50 greatest animated features, we finally wrapped up the final videos of our list. We only had a couple of topics left, so we decided to do film them in the same week with our list of the best stop motion films and the grab bag of the ones that didn't make it in the previous lists, but are still in our overall list of the 50 best. I've always had fun collaborating with Rachel and it's nice that we got to do something outside of the Oscars discussions and year-in reviews. Of course, these won't be the last videos I'll be doing with her, and as a way to say "thanks for bringing me over", I invited her to be a guest for an upcoming episode of AniMat's Crazy Cartoon Cast. Keep your eye out on her channel at Rachel's Reviews, our full list of the 50 best will be revealed soon!

  • This Month's Schedule for my Videos: At the start of the month, after uploading the final part of AL: The Muppets, I realized that I got nothing prepared for the next weeks. The video took so much of my time that it left my backlog empty. It was either I gotta quickly start making the next batch of videos before those deadlines come, or I reorganize my video schedule all together so that I'm able to buy myself more time. It was a moment where I had to look upon the reality of my situation with not just how long it takes me to make these videos, but also other factors that require my personal time. That's why I had to change things up and develop a new plan for what I will upload for this month. And since you are my awesome patrons, you'll be the first to see my schedule for this month (based on their YouTube release).

APRIL 12: No new video. I will take a break from uploading

APRIL 19: The Complete Animation Lookback: The Muppets (over 5 1/2 hours long)

APRIL 26: The Next AniMat's Classic Reviews

Unfortunately, this does come with the catch that there will technically be no new videos for the next 2 weeks, so you'll have to be patient for when I will be uploading some new stuff again. But this will help me to not worry about any deadlines and focus on the quality of the upcoming videos. However, there will still be TikTok/Shorts videos that will still come regularly, so it's not like I'll have little to offer during this time. I'll make a public announcement of this for next week, but I'll be sure to use this time efficiently to make an awesome comeback with new videos.

So that's been my whole week and the start of my life after AL: The Muppets. I'll apologize now that there won't be any new videos for a while, but rest assure that I will make the most out of this so that, when I do bring those out, they will bring back the fun! Maybe it won't seem like it on the outside, but I'm going to have a very busy month. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

After all the hard work and setbacks you endured while making your Animation Lookback: The History of the Muppets and in order to have the proper motivation to make the next videos, I think a break is definitely well needed. Just relax and play some games, chat with friends and watch some animated films.

After everything you did, the break is well deserved. Good job Mat. Can't wait for what's to come next.
