One of my favorite things to read online is something that appears on the Gawker media site, Kitchenette, called "Behind Closed Ovens." It's basically a bunch of reader-submitted anecdotes about interesting stories from the food-service industry, and one of the recurring themes is servers venting about some of the insane customer demands they have to deal with. Something like this is a something I've seen brought up often... when a customer is presented with a simple solution to their problem, but through some combination of stubbornness and ignorance they refuse and make some kind of ridiculous, time consuming demand. I've actually never worked in food service, but I've worked in retail for several years, and tehre are a few personality types that are a total nightmare no matter where you work.
We're nearing midnight already, so there's not much point in linking to the poll for Side Dishes. However, there's still time to vote on what Short Story I'll be drawing soon. Also... should we come up with a name for these short stories? Maybe I could use the name "Creamy Dreams", which was recommended as an idea for some potential dream sequences to be drawn between chapters in a similar fashion.
