Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to MHA season 7, episode 7!!! Omg you guys! On the one hand, Mirko is ok, so phew!!! On the other hand, we've got a lot to deal with, with Froppy/Uraraka taking on Toga, Izuku trying to get back to where he's supposed to be, Shigaraki having a really overpowered hand just waiting to be used (no pun intended lol), and Dabi just about to do some storytelling!!!! We've certainly got some big battles lined up! I can't wait to find out more! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Leonie2003

I have to say, I didn't like this episode at all, because in terms of structure it reminded me exactly of season 5 of My Hero, where it felt like almost nothing new happened in the episode and everything consisted of recap or things we already knew. I don't quite understand why they had to retell the entire plan that we already know at the beginning of the episode. When we've already seen it twice and we've already seen that he's been relatively successful so far, I felt it was unnecessary. Besides, we already know the whole family drama with Dabi. I don't know what else he wants to tell us now. I also don't entirely share your opinion about Toga. I found her pretty unlikable right from the start. Even after seeing her backstory, I didn't have much sympathy for her, unlike Dabi or other villains from My Hero. She's always been pretty weird and always had problems in society. It's pretty obvious that she's not right in the head and is a danger to everyone. Her parents were right about her. If she won't stop peacefully then she needs to be pacified. It's the only way. I know serial killers like her might just have a warped perception of the world that they probably can't change. But it's better to neutralize them than enable them to harm others who are just trying to lead a normal life. What I found positive about the episode was that the animation was very good and, as always, the voice acting of the characters. You can't complain about that. I just hope it doesn't become like season 5, where we get so much recap in every episode, because I can't stand that at all. And since we're almost in the finale of the anime anyway, that's pretty unnecessary. I somehow have the feeling that they want to drag it a bit longer.

Hey Leonie! Oh I can see how the structure is similar to season 5, so I get that! I tend to forget/misunderstand a lot, so I don't mind the recaps, but I suppose they can get a bit excessive if they use them too much. I was kinda curious what Dabi might tell that's new information too, I assumed there was more to the story, but maybe it's a recap? Or maybe it's just more from his point of view? I see what you mean about Toga! I definitely think what she's doing is wrong and she needs to be stopped. Sadly she does have a lot of serial killer tendencies, I just can't help but think that maybe they could've at least been curbed to the point that she wasn't acting on them this way if she'd been shown more understanding as a kid. But yeah, it still doesn't excuse what she's doing present day! The animation was really working in this one! And the VAs are always killing it, I agree! It could be that they're trying to pad the story a bit with the recaps, hopefully not though! I know you haven't seen Naruto yet but I have to say, as much as I love it, it was the epic king of recaps - sometimes there were even flashbacks within flashbacks :P It could get a little tedious!!!!! Haha :)

This stuff is necessary to fill scenes sometimes. The director has an endpoint for the season and sometimes if you just straight up adapt, you either need to cut scenes to get ahead to the next end point. Or add anime original stuff/recaps to pad content. It's just a necessity. Plus, I feel they reaired the plan segment plus they were adding to it. Then explaining there are eight locations to fight at is new information for anime watchers. It sets up speculation for them. And I just completely disagree on toga. Toga was not born with murderous impulses. She was born with a fascination with blood. She went insane from being forced to repress herself. I don't know if you're a manga reader, but I think it's explained better further on in the story. She wasn't treated like shit for hurting people or animals, which she didn't do until she snapped. It was for being creepy. For looking creepy. That's good parenting? Once she snapped, I get it. She became a threat. But there was a time to give her blood fixation a better outlet as a child . I mean, blood fascination is even a real world thing. It doesn't instantly make someone a monster. But being called a monster for ten years probably does.

Hi Hime :) I spoke of pain for this week, here is the first emotional damage. Toga has always been an interesting character because she has her view of the world, partly due to her quirk, which makes her "abnormal" to most people. By forcing her and asking her to hold back, her desire to free herself has reached its limit and Izuku rejecting her is the last straw. She ends up saying it, but only heroes and those they protect are people, so she and her comrades aren't, so why submit to their rules ? I said that his meeting with Uraraka was going to hurt and you can see part of it here, but Toga is broken and doesn't want to hear anything more, while Uraraka, on the contrary, continued to think after their confrontation and wants to continue their discussion , it's definitely going to be hard to see the two of them exchange later, whether it's words or blows. Without saying too much, this whole part of the war around Toga and Uraraka made me suffer in manga and I am both excited and scared to see it animated.

Just to respond to Léonie about the recap at the beginning of the episode, this is perhaps a classic technique in animation which has two objectives: 1 - Manage pacing and end the episode exactly where you want 2 - Save animation time for the team by reusing existing passages (saving time, energy and money). As for Dabi, without spoiling too much, this won't be a recap of what we know. As it is said in the episode, Shoto asks him why he didn't come back after his "death", this is the part that we will learn.

There’s a lot going on this week in this show, huh? 😅 The start showing how meticulously crafted the plan All Might and the others had got me thinking a bit about just how much the heroes and reflections are mirroring. See, specifically, remember when All For One was explaining how his plans worked to come together he always had options of something didn’t work. Contrarily, Deku not being in the spot he was intended has literally sent the plan into a tailspin. Either that or Mirko’s little chat with Bakugo… I refuse to call you that it’s too long! XD Toga is really the centerpiece of this episode and like a lot of people inferred, she’s not harboring any malice towards Deku, which is why Danger Sense is so useless around her. The others are actually aware of the havoc they’re causing but this is an individual through no fault of her own, is totally broken. In a way she’s also kind of a mirror to Uraraka as she’s putting her feelings right out there even though there’s intent behind them that isn’t in Deku’s best interest, while Uraraka has yet to convey her emotions to him. As for Deku, could you please go a bit easier on him? “Romance” is quite hard for guys to understand even in normal situations. It’s basically one of the main reasons “shipping” got so popular, because it’s really hard for two people to get on the same wavelength. But Froppy is right - Deku can’t just ignore Toga’s feelings, either - poor Uraraka - this is the downside to liking someone with that big of a heart. XD I’d call Toga in a way… a reverse masochist. She takes physical and emotional pleasure from causing harm with no malice behind it (Think the exact opposite of Darkness from Konosuba). Oh, and there’s that whole Shigaraki thing to deal with - I’d say he’s gone to throw hands but that might be a little too on the nose. (Horribly, I thought, it’s a good thing Tomura is male otherwise I don’t know what Kira from JoJo would do with this many hands. 😅) That’ll have to take a back burner to what’s going on here, because it looks like that one family squabble that’s been brewing for a while is about to finally boil over. Considering the show already released a special visual poster for next week’s episode featuring Shoto and Dabi, I get the feeling things in that arena are about to heat up considerably.

Crazizzle and Spadeas - that makes a lot of sense about the recaps! I totally get that sometimes they can feel tedious, but for anime fans I suppose they're a necessary evil lol. About Toga, I do disagree with her parents and the people around her for how she was treated when she was young - because at that time, her only "crime" was basically the fixation on blood, which even though it presented itself in a way that was disturbing to those around her, could have been helped, guided, etc. with some more understanding. Present day she's a threat and a half and that's the sad truth of it, we may not really have a choice but to take her down if she can't be reached any other way. I guess that could be said about a lot of the people in the League! I do feel bad about Dabi's backstory too though :/ Honestly none of them are lacking the "tragically evil" thing except for maybe AFO lol. But having our own opinions is a good thing and that's what makes these discussions interesting! As long as we can all be respectful then it's ok to disagree ^_^

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Ahhh you were right about the pain! That's the thing, I feel like her quirk is something she couldn't help, and her worldview sort of sprung off from how it affected her socially. Yeah I think you're right that Izuku's "rejection" was just the last straw. It's an interesting line from her, basically saying why bother if they're not considered real people of any sort of value anyway? Because we've experienced that a lot on this show with other characters who have been sort of left behind by modern hero society. It's so sad that Toga and Uraraka have missed each other completely, emotionally speaking, in terms of where their mindsets are at! I'm both excited and scared about what's coming next!!! Also in regards to your other comment, I'm glad to know we're getting some new info on Dabi!

kamenriderhime

Hahah that's putting it lightly! The plan is so intricate, and it's just so frustrating that such a big part of it went awry already. LOL maybe Mirko's just using an affectionate nickname? :P Right, it's interesting that Danger Sense works based on the other person's feelings, not the actual threat they present. It's kinda sad to think that they unintentionally broke Toga, especially now that Uraraka kinda realizes more of what's going on. Also it's got to be hard for her to see the love confession on full display when it's so close to her own feelings, like you said! LOL, poor Izuku, you know I don't hold it against him, but wow!! I feel so bad for Uraraka, because that big heart is part of the reason she loves Izuku, yet it also means he's not the type to ignore someone's feelings either. LOL that's actually the perfect way to describe Toga, and OMG she is literally the opposite of Darkness hahaha! HAHAHA there are so many hand puns for Shigaraki it's not even funny (it is though)! And you don't know how hard it was for me to refrain from mentioning Kira!!!!! It took all my strength!!! I can't wait for the big Shoto and Dabi showdown!!!

NarumiYutani

"The thing is, this kind of IS a last resort" Without saying too much, oh no, it's not... it's REALLY not 😅 It's a good thing he didn't try to use that Quirk this episode, oh my God, there is so much amazing stuff coming and I can't wait and I'm dying xD

kamenriderhime

OMG!!!! I'm scared lol! I can't wait to see what you mean though!!!! Sounds like there's a lot ahead of us :O

NarumiYutani

Also, watching Toga's story now, kind of makes me cry, because (ofc in a different kind of severity, but still) you can kinda swap out her Quirk/fascination of blood with autism (especially thinking about the "Why can't you be normal?"-line), at least you can draw a lot of parallels and since I'm currently going through testing and will hopefully get my official Autism diagnosis on Friday (I'm 22), that just really helped me shine a different light on Toga and her story and personality. Especially if you consider that she is still underage (16 when we met her, now 17) 😭

Cody

I’m really not liking what’s going on with Shigaraki’s hands, it’s so gross! I can’t help but say ew every time I see it lol. I mean, it’s a neat power up, but geez lol. Got Tsu and Uraraka fighting Toga, who doesn’t seem to want to listen anymore, she feels she’s gotten all the responses from those she loved and has kinda blocked herself off, of course *now* that Uraraka is willing to listen lol. And god I need to know what the Second User’s Quirk is! It’s the only one in OfA we haven’t seen yet, I need it now! Lol

kamenriderhime

Aw I can totally see how her story would hit harder since it resonates with some of your own personal experiences. I'm sorry you've had to deal people treating you that way; good luck with your diagnosis! Very true about the age, honestly that could be said about many of the villains (and heroes)!!!

kamenriderhime

Same lol!! It also looks like it could be very dangerous :O Yeah, I think Toga's been pushed too far at this point. It's so sad that she and Uraraka are totally out of sync this way! OMG same, I wanna know what that quirk does!!! I can't wait!!!!

Supermonaman

I might be biased because I love Toga as a character but this is an amazing episode. It was nice to have the plan laid out so plainly at the start of the episode especially the new information of the teams at each location & the reasons for the choices of location which make a lot of sense. The fact that Mirko had backup robotic arms & legs shows that she expected to get hurt in this battle & it probably hypes her up because that’s just the type of character she is. It’s so interesting that Shigaraki’s body has evolved to deal with his quirk getting stronger than he can control because it shows some validity to Dr. Ujiko theory about quirks going out of control and something interesting to think about is was this evolution only possible because of the doctors tinkering. Also I never knew I needed Bakugo & Mirko interactions until this episode and they play off each other perfectly. It’s terrifying how the sheer amount of area of affect Shigaraki most likely has now makes it impossible for them to warp Izuku back to the right location especially with how long it would take for Monama to switch his quirk & back. The way the heroes who are going to fight without Deku get into poses & line up is the coolest thing. The background information about the island & aquarium is cool especially about Gang Orca which apparently is a reference to 1 of Horikoshi’s 1st manga where a proto Gang Orca was the villain of an evil aquarium which sounds amazing. The 1st Nomu we see at the island has insane powers just breaking down its own body to create gigantic spikes. Also I love the way the water is having a major effect on the battle it’s a nice environmental touch.

NarumiYutani

thx and random little update: whohooo, I got my autism/Aspergers diagnosis 🎉🎉😁
