Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 4 of Haikyu!!! OMG!!! You guys, this is it, the special moment where Kageyama acknowledges Hinata!!!!!!! I knew it would happen! There's nothing like a common enemy to bring us all together haha. But also, we get to know a lot about Kageyama's past here, and the reasoning behind his attitude. I love how he and Hinata are literally made for helping each other - one couldn't lead a team, and the other can't get enough of being on a team and is so pure and trusting! Now we're onto something really special!!! Great stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

I can't decide who my favorite Karasuno player is, but I have a top 3 on the opponents

New character voice: Kiyoko (the girl): Both Hagakure (invisible girl) and Mt. Lady in MHA, as well as Suirei in Apothecary Diaries. The focus of this episode seems to be summed up in the opening statement: nobody wins alone. I should point out how severe the backstory is here, as we know, Kageyama got overbearing on his teammates to the point they’d had it. As I explained before, if you touch the ball last before it hits the floor, your touch and whether the ball is in or out determines which side gets the point. The fact that nobody spiked his toss means the other team scored, but the most damning thing was: that was the set point. They let the final point of the set drop, saying “we would rather lose, than play with you anymore” - Seems like it was the first set so they didn’t lose lose yet, but that’s gonna do a number on anyone’s psychology. Meanwhile Shoyo is over here being told he’s not tall enough, and he can’t do it. And it’s irritating but he keeps going. Both of these characters are coming at this from opposite angles: one has the passion and the resolve, the other has the skill and the wisdom. You called them parallels, but I would more say, they’re two different pieces in a puzzle that fit together. Fast attacks are when the setter puts the ball just barely above the net and it gets hit extremely quickly. When done well, it can be nearly impossible to block (shhh don’t tell Shoyo I used that word). The game is still on, at this point, I don’t know if it’s one set or best of three, but last I checked it was 16-22, bad guys. Oh, one more technical thing: when a player serves, they keep serving until the other team scores. When that happens the players “rotate” to the next player in line. It’s kind of like a baseball lineup, you don’t get to choose. As for playing with your eyes shut, not sure how well that’s going to work out in the long run, but hey, if it ain’t broke… PA: Tanaka’s look was bothering me because it looks really familiar, does he remind you of an angry AoT Conny or something? 👀

This episode was definitely more about seizing up the characters rather than the game itself. We’re still feeling out these characters. Definitely right about the two. Kageyama has skills but had certain doubts ever since his former teammates didn’t want anything to do with him. While Hinata during all of his middle school years took all he can get. And he’s grateful now to receive all he can. It couldn’t have worked out better.

Exactly! I like the way they do that though, since it's all about the characters for me. I'm so glad I sized them up right! They really do fit so well right??

No kidding, that's awesome about the VA! It's a team effort for sure. WOW, that's crazy that the other players made such a huge statement that way. Yeah they really are coming at this from opposite sides. Thanks for all the info! It's interesting how the game works. HAHAHAHAHA Tanaka totally looks like Connie doesn't he!!!!

Hi Melissa, sorry that I'm only writing a comment now, but unfortunately I didn't manage to watch the Haikyuu episode in its entirety earlier this week. But finally I can dedicate a comment to this reaction. In these episodes we got a new character introduced, namely Tsukishima or also called Tsukki. I'm not exactly positive about him. I think you can guess why that is. Yamaguchi, on the other hand (Tsukishima's friend), is a very nice and cute guy. I think you'll realize in later episodes that he's pretty sweet. In these episodes we also got to know a bit more about Kageyama. He's just not that great with people. He's not very good at expressing his feelings and he's also not very friendly at first sight. But he just wants to play a good game with his team. However, he is not a good team player. He has to learn that now at the new high school. But I think with Hinata's help and the help of the whole team, he can definitely master it and become a true king of volleyball. We've already seen the first steps towards that goal in this episode, that Kageyama and Hinata's passing actually works very well. Hinata is just so cute and believes so much in his dream and that makes him a very good main character. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you think of the next episodes!

That's ok, no worries! I hear you about Tsukki! His friend seems like a sweetie pie though! Yeah I agree, I'm seeing more of Kageyama's actual personality and he's different than I first judged him to be. I think he has real king potential now that he's figuring out how to work with others! I love Hinata too, he's a sweet pea!! Can't wait for you to see my next reactions!! XD
