Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 3 ep 12 of Vox Machina!!! WOW YOU GUYS!!! I did NOT expect everything to be tied up in such a nice little bow here but I'm grateful! Not only did we take out Raishan, but we doubled down on bringing our guy back!!! Of course it was the power of love that reached him!!! I fear that are some new problems awaiting our friends, so it's a good thing we're ready to get back together at any time. What a great season!! Enjoy! ~ MH

They’ll definitely change the visuals at least a bit cause we’re done with Thordak, but I really hope they keep the intro theme, it’s such a banger! Keyleth pulled off a badass play on Raishan in the campaign. She successfully cast a spell called Feeblemind on Raishan, leaving her incapable of doing basically anything, as well as not being to repeat the roll to reverse the effects for a whole month. After which, there was nothing keeping the team from finishing her off. So I didn’t lie, Percy did die in the campaign. But they brought him back pretty quickly with a resurrection ritual like they did with Vex, with Vex finally saying she loved him being the deciding factor. I believe Taliesin(player) said that if she hadn’t confessed, Percy would’ve been content with just letting his soul go. Which combined with what they did with Scanlan makes for the biggest change, where originally Scanlan died to Thordak, not go into a coma, and *Scanlan* had the dramatic revival. After, he decided to leave VM because some of the group pranked him while he was dead and then brought Kaylie to help revive him, causing her to see him in that state which really hurt him. And I’m honestly a bit disappointed that they changed it. Percy’s death was a great twist, but I don’t like that they kinda took one of Scanlan’s biggest moments, and gave it to Percy instead when he already had a whole season. I recommend watching this clip of it https://youtu.be/N0_Z_qHzS_g?si=6qGyTrnsTVNv7-fJ . Another great part from before they actually revived him was Grog’s reaction “No… Fix him! FIX HIM!” It was so heartbreaking. 😭 I still absolutely love what they did with resurrecting Percy here, it definitely got to me 😭 But Scanlan’s big scene, like the bath scene, was something everyone had been looking forward to seeing in this show and it just stings that they changed such a standout moment. So we do know Vecna, they hinted at him in s1, but for copyright reasons they only refer to him as The Whispered One. Much like how instead of The Raven Queen she’s The Matron of Ravens, or how they refer to the other gods. Also I didn’t notice Levar’s name in the credits lol, I just assumed that was Lance’s last recording being Undead Thordak. Considering how much they changed this season, it makes me very curious how next season will go. Cause I think everyone who watched the campaign had an idea of how each season would go after s2, but now I have no clue if it’ll play out how I thought or not.

Hi Hime :) I'm glad that my weeks have been hectic, because I didn't have to lie about Percy or keep it secret lol. But yeah, for what I heard, it didn't have been played like that at all in the campaign, he die one time by the hand of Ripley and he's being resurected soon after, then he forgive her and Ripley kill him again, but he is brought back and delivered from Orthax at the same time. But all of this happen before the final fight against Thordak and Raishan, because it is during the fight with Raishan that both Percy and Scanlan die, Percy is resurected but not Scanlan, after that, they brought Kaylie to help resurect him and Scanlan is angry they brought her, so Percy lash out and tell him to be a good man and a good father. Not gonna lie, I think I prefer the anime version, Scanlan is less a-hole than in the campagaign and even if Percy isn't in the final battle, he is still present in the gun and that make up for a more emotional ending. Speaking of it, he does sound like a real ending, but Critical Role said that a season 4 is annonced so we might have their initial plan of 5 season. Anyways, I look forward for the next season, I really enjoy the characters and the story.

“They’re either going to wrap up Raishan and start Percy or they’re going to hold Raishan and get Percy back.” Show: “Are you implying we can’t do both?” It seems like the main theme of this season is trust - whether it’s a familial, romantic, or just “I’ve got your back” type, the moral seemed to be “you must trust yourself as well as you trust your friends.” For example, when Keyleth tells Vax to basically back off because she has a plan he can’t do anything but he needs to, unlike he did previously, trust that she knows what she’s doing.” Turns out she kind of got vengeance for her people during the process as well - there’s a lot of that going around this week isn’t there? Orthax did mention in a previous episode that it wanted Percy’s soul as payment for helping Ripley. I chose to not point that out too much. There were two things I said after episode 7: 1. Percy was shot to death. 2. His soul is no longer with us. Now that you’ve got context see what I did there? Nobody ever said he was gone. Lol. It seems his mind got taken when he was abducted until Vex got involved - but you said it, it’s cliche. All’s well that ends well, right? Well, maybe not… it seems Vax is already dealing with something else on top of his Matron issues… and there’s a cult trying to resurrect somebody. They kept saying “we are his blood.” I was reminded that Zerxes said “the time of his ascension draws nigh,” is this what he meant? Oh, and Pike still apparently has doubt about her own deity. Season 3 was fun, it was an interesting idea to split the group several ways, but I do also think they may have had a few too many plot threads at once given the length of the season, if I had to nitpick. You asked about the theme: it’s the same tune as the first two seasons but different arrangement with new visuals so it would be like taking the Star Wars theme and changing the instruments. Overall it was entertaining as usual. I wonder how many shenanigans we’ll get next time? It makes sense that you’re taking time off, the show suggestion I had earlier this week was just in case you felt you would like to fit something short in before you stopped for the home stretch. Hope you’re taking care of yourself in the meantime! See you in the next show!

before ur break, we know Gavv will also inevitably have it's christmas break, you think you can react to the newest Gotchard Movie? or even Gavv's music video? Just to fill in the Kamen Rider Gap before ur temporary leave and Gavv's break :))

kamenriderhime

Good question, probably not when it comes to the movie since that's way more time than an ep! The music video though - maybe! My break will likely be deeper into the month of January so I'll still be watching Gavv for a bit!

kamenriderhime

Lol they proved me wrong and did both! Good point about the trust themes. Ohhhh I didn't notice the whole soul/payment thing that much until they brought it up here! Yeah the way you worded it made me think that there was some loophole, I just couldn't figure out how! I could see that with the plot threads, honestly if I was to nitpick I'd say they got quite ship heavy all at once early on in the season but it all balanced out well and really went to some interesting places. I can't wait for next season!! And thanks!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Lol there you go!! Hope your schedule has calmed down now! Oh wow, that's kinda what I pictured - that if he died in the campaign, it wasn't something that really stuck. OHHHH wow, that was WAY different, the whole thing with Scanlan! Interesting! It sounds like the adaptation did it justice and then some. I'm excited there will be more! Can't wait!

kamenriderhime

The visuals make sense but I agree about keeping the theme! That spell sounds awesome! Ohhhh interesting that Vex confessing played such a big role in the campaign! I read in another comment about the changes they made with Scanlan!! Thanks for sharing the clip, I'll take a look! The Percy stuff was great though, I agree! That's too bad it was kind of a letdown for Scanlan though! Ohhh ok, I didn't put together that the Whispered One was the same as Vecna until I looked it up! Omg isn't that awesome, I love Levar Burton! That's interesting about possible changes ahead, I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Vax has become one of my favorite characters. He's sticking his neck out a lot this season for someone else's happiness—they all do—but he has this selflessness about him. Anyway, I love that moment with him calling Percy brother. He's the MVP today. I can't believe this season is over. It ended on a better note than last time. But why can't we leave on a more pleasing note? By the end, I knew there would be hints of Vax’s trouble for next season. They gave so many warnings, so I was prepared, but could we not leave it at that? Did we have to get that scary face thing at the end? 😨 I'm a bit sad that they all split up, but I get it—they'll be back. They are Vox Machina.

kamenriderhime

He really shines right?! LOVE the brother comment! Omg I know, they really left us with some questions! Yeah at least they're on good terms this time - they'll totally get back together!!
