Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction/review of episodes 2 and 3 of vol 6 of RWBY!  I......I'm not even sure what to say!!!!!  I'm still processing everything that happened in these eps (particularly 3).  It's hard to believe I've been watching multiple volumes of this show while only have half...no, maybe even a third...of the full story!!!!  SO much makes sense now!!!  And every time I thought I knew where the story was going, I was wrong and they headed in a different direction....!!!!  It's so much more complex than I thought!!!!  So here's my question now: what are we even doing?!  Why are we fighting?!  What's the goal?!?!  And what are the girls are Qrow gonna do with this info?!?!!?  I cannot wait to find out!!!  Incredible eps!!!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Also, that part where I get so excited I rip out my earbud....!!! :P

Zen Reacts

There are 2 chapter i love seeing reactions to this volume, 3 and 9, and 9 is going to be a doozy

Zen Reacts

Most definitely! As soon as i get home i can watch this reaction im super excited!

Darren

So happy :) xxxx

K

Yesss amazing reaction as always! Was looking forward to this one. Yeah, as you sort of hinted I think it’s implied that humans evolved again the second time around. Which means Salem must’ve walked Remnant alone for billions of years. Which is enough to send anyone bananas. I’d probably start wreckin stuff too 😭. Can’t wait for the next one Hime! 💖

K

That gave me a huge grin 😅 bless ya

Darren

I always think the longer you have powers the more powerful they get over time, hence why Salem is so powerful and why the maidens are so powerful also :)

SaintLily

Ahh, episode 2 and the not so triumphant return of Cinder. I'm actually a really big fan of her (I know, we can't all have good taste) so it's usually pretty amusing to see reactions to her survival, you were more just surprised but some people can be pretty annoyed by it sdjfhf. Meanwhile I'm just sitting here going "You're doing great babe!"

tishfish1145

I’m so happy you’ve reached this point! This is one of the best episodes to watch people react to imo. I love how in depth you go with your discussion after the reactions. I’ve also been meaning to ask - has anyone recommended the RWBY books to you? There’s some things you’ve mentioned wanting more of or being interested in learning more about that I think the books would satisfy! You’re also past the point that there would no longer be spoilers in them. There’s After the Fall and Before the Dawn that follow team CFVY and SSSN, and I would also highly recommend the RWBY DC comics! They flesh out the in between a of volume 4. :)

SaintLily

Oh, and on Salem and Oz's kids, they did indeed all die during the fight, and there's no direct connection between them and the maidens. That being said, it's a pretty popular theory that the four women who visited Oz in the maiden story reminded him of his kids, and that was part of why he decided to give them some of his magic. Nothing confirmed, but it does make sense given what we see.

Zen Reacts

My biggest takeaway from chapter 3 was that the gods have absolutely no foresight or empathy. The god of light directly says "I understand how you feel" but how could he ever understand how a mortal feels? Then making someone who has shown spite completely immortal

Bejo

Yay!!! This is the episode I’ve been waiting for. A few things. 1. If you remember back in volume 3 when Ozpin asked Pyrrha to list her favorite fairytales two of the ones she mentions were “The Girl in the Tower” and “The Two Brothers”. This is some nice foreshadowing and it implies that the events of this episode became folklore in remnant. 2. This episode seemed to introduce a new theory as to the origins of Dust. Before this, most people in the FNDM thought that dust possibly came from the broken moon. But after this episode, there seems to be hints that Dust actually came from the previous human race. Whatever was left of them after the God of Darkness vaporized them crystallized overtime. It’s kinda dark, but I do think it has more merit than the moon theory. 3. After years of fans wondering and theorizing about how the moon broke, the answer that we finally got was that the God of Darkness is a drama Queen and he had to make a grand exit. Because we saw that he could’ve easily just teleported out. I’m gonna stop here out of fear of this turning into an essay, lol. Can’t wait for the rest of the season!! Particularly episodes 5 and 9.

Bejo

They’ve also created what is essentially the devil and left the world at her mercy. Like, they are just as responsible for the events of this show as Salem is.

Darren

The little girls aren't the Maidens, The Maidens he gave his powers to just remind him of his children. Also i think many people forget in a way that Salem is part Grimm now and thats added to her destructiveness if she hadn't jumped in that pool I doubt she wouldn't be half as ruthless as she is now or even at all xxx

Ronix

Yes RWBY day, so good. Yes unfortunately Cinder is still alive how I do not know. So much lore for two episodes I love it and you got to meet my waifu for this volume Jinn. I cannot imagine what the girls and Qrow must be going through after learning all of this. I am so excited for next week

Spadeas

Hi Hime :) It's good that you're finally at this point, Salem and Ozma backstory is one of a hell reveal. Now that you're there, like I told you, the lyrics of Sacrifice take on another meaning, for me, it is the sign that Monty had this vision, this point of the story, since a long time. It proves that the intentions to the details, are voluntary and that if all is not written, the broad outlines are probably already, thank you Monty and thank to the CRWBY for staying on Monty's vision and sharing this world with he gave birth. That being said, i can't wait for the rest of the volume. The next two episode are going to be fun to watch you react, whether it's the broken glasses, our icy dessert or the beginning of Resident Evil RWBY version ^^. Plus, you will see more of Maria, and that a good thing. I remember saying things about something you should keep in mind, about Qrow, when you were talking in a episode or the OST in volume 4. That he seem to hate himself and he was not really a "happy" person. I just wanted to recall you that for the next episode and the rest of the volume. I'm hyped to see again with you the scene which I call "give her a hug" in episode 5 ^^.

Haughtbreaker Nic

I think you missed the significant point when Oz said the lamp can answer 3 questions, but all 3 questions were used up. Then Jinn pops up and says "hey there are 2 questions left". Lies!! On some level I can feel empathy towards Oz who's been betrayed before several times and has had to live so long, but on the other hand, he cannot expect people to blindly follow him without giving them a reason to. Finding out that Salem can't be destroyed, and that Oz knew for at a minimum of 100 years (Since obviously it was a different set of 3 questions), yet he personally created the academies to raise children to fight a war they could never win? Oof. If the world knew that Salem existed, would training have been different? Would it be more rigorous? Would people who just saw huntsmen as another career have still signed up for a war that they knew they couldn't win? Would Pyrrha still have agreed to be a maiden knowing Salem existed? That someone like Salem would be hunting her down for the rest of her life? By withholding the truth, Oz basically took away the autonomy of the students, keeping them from making informed life-altering decisions. In a way (not saying she's right about everything), Raven was right that they were fools for following Oz without asking questions. Also without the gods, it can be assumed people came about the natural way, via evolution, which is why there were now faunus. Which would also mean Salem was alone in the world for billions of years. Yeah she crazy. I'm laughing at the idea of Salem naming the planet Remnant and trying to get a new emerged people to call it that.

Ridzy

After this episode you start to piece together where a lot of things came from dust essentially being Remnants version of fossil fuels, you have the faunus what i think is an evolutionary off shoot of humanity that evolved from the 2nd gen humans hence why they share the capabilities when it comes to aura and semblances. Speaking of semblances you can see where it got its name its a semblance of magic a power 2ng gen humans have but first gen did not same goes for aura to they byproducts that came from 2nd gen humans being born from the dust of the first gen you even get the smallest hint of foreshadowing from volume 1 eps 1 one of the first lines said in the show from the narrator (Salem) "Man born from dust was strong wise and resourceful"

Ridzy

now that you have seen this episode i highly recommend checking out the book fairytales of remnant its 12 fairytales that exist in the world of remnant some are more detailed retellings of ones we have herd in the show like the tale of the two brothers and the four maidens or are ones we herd the names of but not had them told to use the girl in the tower and the shallow sea and ones we have never herd off my two favourites are the indecisive king and the grimm child also i recommend the audio book version as Ozpin has notes on each story and they get VA to read those part so its nice to hear Ozpin's voice recap each story

Kayleigh McRae

So now you know why Ozpin/Ozma. Is my fave character. Because of how much he has gone through. Now when you rewatch things and watch him. You actually understand why he says and does certain things. With the maidens thing. If you rewatch the Maidens world of Remnant again. You can place the tale as some point after Ozma and Salem's kingdom went down and their children died. And it makes more sense. He was in mourning when the maidens find him. And he lets them in to his life because. They remind him of his daughters. Who they could have been.

Kayleigh McRae

Btw when Ozma says, "I'll do it." In episode 3 to the god of light. It's a direct parallel to what happens between him and Pyrrha. You can see that she says that when they give the choice to become the maiden. When that happens. Watch Oz. He is soooo worried for her. He really tells her to think before acting. Because... when he accepted his task... he didn't fully think it through. All he thought about was getting to Salem at first. This is why I think Oz has this whole philosophy about choice.

Kayleigh McRae

Rewatching Oz and Salem throughout the show with this episode in mind is such a trip everytime. Lol

Beowolf Chow

Thanks for the great reaction video. :) "What is the word for that?" Mind-Blown Jinn actually kind of is a Genie. The origin of the word Genie is Djinni / Djinn. And they keep calling the Relic of Knowledge a "lamp". She is literally the Jinn of the Lamp. ;) Also, if you go back to last season, to the statue in Haven's main hall that became the elevator to the vault, It's a woman wearing the same golden chains as Jinn, so lovely foreshadowing. Salem's scream as the gods left gives me chills every time. That sheer anguish in her voice at frustration and loss, anger and hopelessness. Amazing voice work from Jen Taylor this episode and next. There are a couple theories about where humanity came back from. Waaay back in the first episode introduction, the narrator that we now know was Salem said "Mankind, born from dust" and she might literally mean that Dust caused mankind to be reborn. It's worth a rewatch now that this episode puts her narration in new context. Also, since Faunus didn't exist in the old world, either they came about the same way, or Salem might have made the first few herself out of animals in an early attempt to rebuild the world, before finally giving up. This may be why she's completely indifferent to how many people die, when she saw that her and Oz's daughters could use magic, she saw that she didn't have to settle any more with these magic-less half-people that filled the world. She saw the possibility to replace the whole world with just their children, and put it back the way it was, once upon a time. Also, not sure if you noticed, but the one Oz reincarnation with children, the kids have silver eyes. Speaking of rewatches, all this now makes Qrow an unreliable narrator in everything he's said, as what he believes isn't necessarily what is true, but just what Oz had told him; and Oz is a liar. "So you can't destroy Salem.. so then what are we doing?" The exact right question to ask, and to keep in mind at the start of next episode.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The answer to how humanity came back is told to us back in Chapter 1 of Volume 1 by the mysterious narrator who we now know as Salem....She told us humanity was born from dust....

Haruto Yuzuki

Raven: "After all this time following Oz and you still don't understand... There is no defeating Salem!" Ruby: "Your Wrong..." Lol, Sorry Ruby someone probably told Raven that :P

John J Ronald

"This world is but a REMNANT of what it once was, and its people wield but a SEMBLANCE of the magic they used to command."...Semblances are vestigial forms of magic in Humanity 2.0, which we can infer eventually evolved by natural processes to walk the face of Remnant. So FNDM is very divided on the Maiden question and perhaps my view is the minority one and less popular, but I also think I'm right. And I'm just stating my views here and not trying to pick a fight... *Heavy Sigh* OK, So after the humongous reveal in Vol.6, Ch.3, I personally think it is ASININE to insist that the Fairy Tale version of the Maiden origin story really happened. To me, it clearly didn't. It's clearly a sanitized version of the tale crafted by Ozma himself BECAUSE THE REALITY IS TOO PAINFUL AND EMBARRASSING FOR HIM to acknowledge directly. It was one of his most closely kept secrets for a reason. He made up a digestible version to explain the existence of the Maidens that would be palatable to children and would also obfuscate his own role & guilt. He "gifted them part of his magic" insofar as he slept with Salem and started a family, against the explicit warning of the God of Light. As someone with a Literature degree & literary background, I just find the view that nope, the fairy tail origin story of the maidens is the literal truth of how they came to be to be a hopelessly naive way to read that part of the story of RWBY. Ozpin lied about it. He's partly based on the Wizard of Oz who was, though a "good guy" compared to the Wicked Witch, still a CON-MAN at bottom. That's not a coincidence. Think about it this way.....Salem & Ozma are two immortal beings, but their immortality functions differently. Salem just flat out can't be killed. She was hit by a huge falling chunk of the Moon and came back. Ozma reincarnates over and over in endless cycles of death and rebirth.....and so do their four daughters. Of course they're the original Maidens. Their rules of reincarnation are slightly different (as explained by Qrow, et. al. back in Vol.3) but very similar to Ozma's. Their "power" (their aura, specifically) shifts to whomever was the last female in their thoughts....or else it goes randomly to an eligible candidate. They were just children, so they don't have the depth of memories that a reincarnating adult like Ozma has. Ozma remembers all of his past lives....the Maidens don't. But they are still the daughters of Salem & Ozma....which is utterly horrifying and probably one of the secrets Raven learned that freaked her out so badly she left Team STRQ entirely. The Gods are kind of jerks but hey, most Gods are in many mythologies....Zeus, anyone? Also, Ozma/Ozpin is not only based on the L. Frank Baum books (Ozma is a separate character distinct from The Wizard of Oz, btw)....there are also allusions to Ozpin/Ozma being related partially to the chief Norse god Odin....especially with Qrow and Raven....who in Norse mythology served as Odin's eyes & spies. Also, go back and re-watch the Train Station scene in Chapter One of this Volume. Notice anything special about the Statue in the Middle of the Station? A European Dragon and an Asian Dragon, intertwined....hmmm? Also, minor cultural note, look at Salem's father's original castle, where she was locked in the tower....looks a lot like Beacon Academy, doesn't it? It also looks a lot like the famous Disney Castle, which itself is based on the real world castle called Neuschwanstein found in Bavaria, in Germany, build for "Mad King" Ludwig II of Bavaria. Ozpin built Beacon Academy and the other huntsmen academies as a bulwark against Salem & the Creatures of Grimm....but choosing Salem's home castle as the inspiration for Beacon....shows he still loves her on some subconscious level. It's so tragic and sad yet largely of their own doing. Also yes, it does feel pretty bleak at the end of Ch.3, but let's not forget that the Titans of Greek myth were immortal, too, but the Greek Gods took them on and threw them in Tartarus Prison....even immortal creatures can be sealed away/managed sometimes.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

Oh, and about a discussion from the end of last volume. It is so obvious that Yang never told anyone about Raven being the Spring Maiden. I saw you notice the look on her face when Qrow mentioned the Spring Maiden. I still love Yang even though she is a hypocrite. ....kids most likely died during that battle between Salem and Oz,, and not the actual Maidens but likely the inspiration of them.

dainbramage7

Your taste is definitely different but I can appreciate it. No gatekeeping in this fandom from me.

dainbramage7

I've told people that there are different levels you must pass in the world of RWBY. One jump in level occurs when you finish watching Volume 3, and the other happens when you finish watching Volume 6 Chapter 3. Everything you think you know about this show changes after those two points. Welcome to the next level.

dainbramage7

A quick point on your question about the faunus and mankind's resurrection: I have a belief that since it is said that mankind was born from dust that when the God of Darkness destroyed the moon, all the pieces that fell to Remnant had the building blocks of life included in them, including those for faunus and man as we know it. It is also why the world of Remnant is covered with dust in the ground cause it's from all the impact craters and why we don't really see dust in use before the original race of man was obliterated. Just a theory.

Sunset

These two episodes are probably a pair of the most intense ones of RWBY solely for the buildup of tension. Something that's brought up in relation to what happens in these chapters is Yang being hypocritical in her treatment of Ozpin; and in a way people are right to think that, but they also never take into account that Yang is under the assumption that her mother is too much of a coward to return to the fight - no matter which side it is - and the fact that they already have the relic of knowledge kind of minimalizes the need of Raven being there other than to make sure the powers wont get taken. Whereas with Ozpin; he witheld VERY important information from not only team RWBY but assumedly Qrow's team as well, and like I have said once before we have no clue how many people Ozpin has had fighting with him in the many lifetimes he's lived. So, these kids think this old wizard has brought them into a battle they are destined to die for with no victory insight (sort of similar to Hazel's views on Ozpin). I just tend to think people take it far too easy on Ozpin because of the harsh circumstances on how he got to where he was and demonize Yang for keeping her own secret. I understand why, and Ive honestly kind of made my peace with it but those are just my thoughts. ALSO Jinn is amazing and I love her, the fact that because she was made from the god of light she can sense who Ozpin is despite the body of whom he is co-inhabiting is a pretty nice detail. Also do I believe Salem's actions are at all justified...no. Do I sort of feel bad for that version of her...kinda. But yeah, if you think these 2 eps are insane...you are in for a wild ride. But as always loved the reaction and looking forward to more!

Manny

They were in love for a hot minute. Does this mean my developing crush on Ozpin never stood a chance? 🤔 🥺 Oh well at least I still have Qrow. Anyways did the kids really die during that scuffle? Salem held no punches with that first hit. I think too far gone. Overall I think it’s huge information to hold but I get it. Salem is tryna defy the Gods which, you do not do, like me tryna test my parents patience growing up. 🤣 You guys were not joking. Big episode, this was A LOT Also how did humanity come back when Ozma was resurrected (back on Earth)?

Brook

This is still my favorite episode of the show. The creative storytelling absolutely does it for me. They really just took an entire episode slot to world build hundreds or thousands of years of history and basically spelled out the end game of the big bad and the big good. They didn't have to do that, but they did, and the story is that much better for it.

cscotch

I haven't even started the reaction yet but I'm already so hyped, because literally every time you've brought up the moon so far I was immediately like "Oh just wait till Volume 6 Chapter 3, where all your questions are answered"

cscotch

As tragic as it is, it definitely seems like the kids did not make it out of that castle. Like Salem said, Ozpin and Salem's souls transcend death. And the Maiden inheritance seems like a weaker but functionally similar version of Ozpin's reincarnation. Instead of a like-minded individual, the power is either sent to the person in the Maiden's last thoughts or sent to a random person in the event the Maiden's last thoughts are of a man, boy, or older woman. But it is still transferred to a new soul upon death, and the powers "merge" with the aura of the Maiden (as confirmed by Ironwood and Glynda in Volume 3 when they explain how they would transfer the powers to Pyrrha). At this point, we don't know if the new Maidens retain some part of the old maiden's consciousness as well, but otherwise the inheritance process seems super similar.

cscotch

Exactly this. First time around, humanity was made. Second time around, both humanity and the faunus evolved into being.

cscotch

Also 100% agree with the cyclone effect for Ruby's semblance. The first time we see that effect is the first episode in Volume 2, where it's implied that it's basically her semblance activating at full power. At a weaker version, she just moves fast, but at a higher power she bursts into rose petals. There's a lot of the cyclone effect in her Vol4 character short and in the early chapters of vol4, but other than that we don't really see it again until now where it is very visually distinct. Honestly I feel like Volume 6 is where they finally hammered down how to animate RWBY fights in the Maya engine. Not to say the fights in Vol 4 and 5 are bad, per se, but they are so much more tame than the fights in 1-3. Like there's just not as much happening in them. But in 6 onward, the fights just get better and better. Also, I think 6 is where they kinda nailed down how they want the animation to look. Volumes 7 and 8 still look more and more refined, but it's not as notable of a shift as 4 to 5 and 5 to 6

cscotch

She might not be Jinn the Genie, but she is Jinn the Djinn! In case you missed it, if you go back to Volume 5 and look at the statue hiding the entrance to the Vault of the Spring Maiden, you'll definitely recognize who the statue is of.

cscotch

Also, I feel like it's worth mentioning, with her original curse from the gods, Salem was actually given an out. "You must learn the importance of life and death. Only then will you find peace." Her punishment was harsh, but it wasn't absolute. Realistically speaking, she could have learned their importance in the span of a year. Basically her punishment was just that she needed to think about what happened and respect that, while it was sad, death is an essential part of life. But rather than try to get rid of her immortality that way, she seems to have opted for the "As long as this world turns, you will walk its surface" line. If the gods destroy the world, then her curse ends (supposedly). As for humans, they evolved the second time around. I actually imagine the God of darkness had something to do with it, because he broke the moon on the way out and those fragments crashed into the planet. One common theory for how life began on Earth is that water and basic cellular lifeforms arrived on the planet via asteroid. But, regardless, humanity and faunuskind formed from "dust" the second time around, or in other words they evolved into existence.

Christopher Pope

Some telling lyrics from volumes 2 and 3 that get at Oz's mistakes, not so much in Jinn's tale, but what he's done since. The chief issue seems to be that he recruits people with the impression that he knows what he's doing and saving the world may be just around the corner. But at least at this moment, it appears that Raven was right. Were we born to fight and die Sacrificed for one huge lie Are we heroes keeping peace Or are we weapons pointed at the enemy So someone else can claim a victory ... Have you no shame Signing them up for your war Train them to fight what they can't beat Your sins are what they'll pay for ... What if all the plans you made Were not worth the price they paid Even with the lives you stole Still no closer to your goal

Derpy Trev

It finally happened. We now know the moon truth. This is the best chapter in the series, not my favorite even though it’s great, but it’s just the best one imo

Derpy Trev

There’s many more great moments coming in the series though 👀 like I said in the V5 finale, it only goes up from here.

kamenriderhime

YAY!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed my discussion!!! And you know what, actually just recently some folks recommended the books. I'm glad to know it's safe for me to read them now! And comics too?!?! OMG!!! Thank you! I'm excited to check these out!!!

kamenriderhime

YAY! Ah yes!!!! Someone pointed out the Two Brothers back during one of the World of Remnants, I think. Oh wow, that theory about dust is DARK!!! But makes a lot of sense! Hahahaha he was a total drama queen!!!!! :p So excited to see more of this show and for you guys to see my reactions!!! ^_^

kamenriderhime

Got it!! Thanks for clearing that up! Very true, that pool made her part Grimm, something I'd suspected for a while!!!! Makes total sense that would make her so ruthless!!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) It really is! Oh my gosh, those lyrics make even more sense now for sure. So true that everything has been intentional and carefully plotted. I just watched the next two and WHOA, I loved them!!! Maria is the best haha. Oh my goodness, yes, I do remember saying that about Qrow. :( Definitely coming more into perspective with that now...!! Hahahaha I know the scene you mean!!!!!!!!! Hope you love my next reaction!!!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhh I guess I hadn't put that together!!! :P I totally see what you mean about Oz. On the one hand, it's such a horrible truth to know, but it's still the truth. And I'm sure it would have had some impact on their decisions for sure! Oh lord, I wonder just how much of a hand Salem had in the development of the new world when it comes to things like names lol. And no wonder she is so far gone, having been alone so long!!!

kamenriderhime

Yes it's starting to make more sense!! It makes TOTAL sense that semblances are byproducts of the old magic!! Ahhh in a way, Salem was telling us more truth than Oz right from the start, dang lol.

kamenriderhime

Oooh I'd love to read this!!! The audio book version sounds really fun as well!!! Thank you!

kamenriderhime

Nice!!! Yes, it definitely helps me understand him more. Makes total sense that he was in mourning when he met the maidens, and they reminded him of his kids! SO true about the parallel with Pyrrha as well, wow! Oh man, I can imagine there is SO much rewatchability with this show haha. Seeing it all and knowing their story must be a blast!

kamenriderhime

Hahaha yup that's the word alright! Ohhh she is a genie then lol. Whoa, I need to go back and see that statue! Oh my gosh, Jen Taylor is killing it here for sure! Ohhh interesting theory about the Faunus and how people came back into existence. Hmm, very interesting as well about her possible thoughts of setting the world back to how it was with hers and Oz' children. WHOA, did not notice the silver eyes!!!! Holy cow!!! Is Ruby a descendant of Ozpin?! Aww true, everything we know from what Qrow said isn't reliable since we know there were so many lies coming from Oz...!! Oh man, just watched the next two eps...!!! Hope you love my reaction to them!

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, I was wondering if Raven might know that Salem really can't be defeated!!!! In that case, Raven wasn't wrong! :P

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, that is actually a very interesting theory!!!!!!!!! I need to go rewatch the train station scene...!! Oh wow, did not even notice the similarities of the castle to Beacon! That is really tragic! Very true that immortal doesn't necessarily mean invulnerable to everything!!! Thank you for all your insights!

kamenriderhime

Ohhh yes I did notice that little look she gave!!!! Yikes!! Was really hoping she had told someone! Thanks for clarifying about the maidens!

kamenriderhime

Oh my gosh, that is so true!!! Happy to be here at the next level....shocked, but happy lol! Ohh I had heard the theory about the moon!!!!! Thanks for explaining it!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhh I can definitely see what you mean about Yang's reasoning! Good point that Jinn can always recognize Oz!!! And she is awesome lol. Oh wow, I have lots to look forward to!!!!! So happy you enjoyed my reaction!!!! :D

kamenriderhime

It is incredible!!! So true that they didn't have to create this incredibly well done and intricate story, but went that extra mile anyway. I love this show!!!

kamenriderhime

Well now, that is very true! I suppose she could have learned the lesson they were asking her to, yet on the other hand, I can see how this might have made her a bit on the spiteful side lol. Thanks for explaining about how humanity came back! Makes sense!

kamenriderhime

Ah, you know, I can actually see it a bit more from Raven's perspective now. And true that he recruits people seemingly with a plan. WHOA, those lyrics really hit hard now!!!! I got a shiver down my spine reading "still no closer to your goal"...!!!! :O

Jonathan Bruser

This is arguably one of the best episodes in the entire series, I would say, if only for the sheer amount of worldbuilding that it provides. I would argue that this show reveals the true nature of every little thing too slowly, but this episode makes up for that in a big way. There are also little things that make a bit more sense with this episode. The reveal of how this world is but a "Remnant" of what it once was is telling, but there's at least one other bit of terminology that I think is just as logical. Every living soul could once wield true magic, but today, what little power any one person has is just a "Semblance" of what used to be part of the normal fabric of the world. That term never made sense for me as a name for a personal superpower... At least, not until now, where it makes perfect sense.

kamenriderhime

I can see why!!!!! I caught the Remnant reference, but Semblance makes so much sense too! It's a little bit of the old magic living on through new humans. It definitely makes total sense now!!!!!!!! Thanks :D

Lemonkatze

i feel like its very important to note oz asked specifically how he could destroy salem and jinn said he couldnt but nothing else

2021-07-14 10:24:53 I love episode 2 I think it gives great questions to set up for the next episode. I love how much more suspenseful, dark and gloomy things are for the Cinder scenes because I think it reflects her character a lot. Also yeah her being alive was a surprise though for some more than others. There were many discussions about this between volume 5 and 6 because of the whole no body no death Trope in fiction although I was more in the middle back then. A big criticism about volume 5 was that they did not explore Haven and Mistral more especially the criminal underworld talked about in world of remnant. I think it was a missed opportunity for some great world building so I’m glad they were to some degree responding to those criticisms by exploring the criminal part of Mistral with Miss Malachite and the Spiders. Also some interesting facts about Malachite that probably won’t matter again is he’s based on little Miss Muffet from the nursery rhyme and also the mother of the Malachite twins from the yellow trailer and volume 2. I really love her sassy personality and faux southern accent because I have heard it’s not an accurate accent. Also that poor woman Cinder encountered she killed her, stole her money & clothes and even most likely ate her food. I think Cinder is so jumpy because of how she was completely caught by surprise by Raven & Vernal as well as seeing her wanted poster earlier. The spider analogy is really interesting and also the fact that Malachite has so many agents with the spiderweb tattoo surrounding anyone who wants answers makes her dangerous & intense. Also this meeting proves that Cinder is rude to everyone except Salem. It seems like Cinder will be 2 weeks behind our group because someone else came and got the information on them a week ago and now they’re making her wait another week to get what I assume is blackmail on her. I love the scene back when Oz explains the lamp’s power and limitations there’s a lot of silly and funny moments especially Nora. Yang Do you have any questions you would ask? Also this is where he lies. The reactions make so much sense but it is unfortunate. Ozpin’s entire speech is so great and well acted. Also after living so long it makes so much sense that he would think this way and his idea about mistakes to me says more about his optimism however many betrayals are sure to make someone jaded. I love Ruby’s response to this because she truly believes in the good of humanity and while Oz does too he has also seen too much of the dark side of humanity/human nature to 100% believe it. Also it does explain a lot of his actions as well as being more controlling than others. Oscar taking control and there being conflict between him and Oz I think was foreshadowed when he took control in volume 5 and Oscar wanting to keep control last episode. Now on to Jinn and her design sure is “ahem” something and I’m definitely not complaining. The fact that summoning her stops time is insane. Her personality is so fun. Also I love how while everyone else is either staring in shock/awe/possibly admiring the giant blue naked woman Qrow looks away. It’s cute that while a lot of people are attracted to him he’s shy and a gentleman. Also you can notice when she starts explaining things Maria looks over at Qrow and and he’s in shock shaking his head. You can hear the desperation in Oz’s voice and him lunging at Ruby is terrifying. I love the way this flashback is animated and is like a fairytale. The revelation at the end is so shocking but not nearly as shocking as it was when this episode 1st came out there were so many theories/ideas about this. Salem’s original design is also great.
2021-04-27 07:01:59 I love episode 2 I think it gives great questions to set up for the next episode. Also some interesting facts about Malachite that probably won’t matter again is he’s based on little Miss Muffet from the nursery rhyme and also the mother of the Malachite twins from the yellow trailer and volume 2. 2021-07-14 10:24:54 Good point about Cinder! Yeah you guys all had me convinced she was gone :P Haha! That's so interesting, I'm glad they responded by showing a little bit more of the sleazier side of things there lol. Ohhh interesting about Malachite!!! So fun that she's the twins' mom. Oh thanks for the heads up about Cinder's timeline! Lol Nora is the best! Gosh, I don't even know what I'd ask!!! Probably something more personal and less world-saving global if I'm being honest haha. How about you? Yes we get so much clarity on Ozpin here. Good point about Oscar! Hahahaha Jinn's design was a gift from CRWBY I suppose lol! Omg I loved that Qrow looked away! He has this whole scoundrel thing going on but he really is shy <333 Oh my gosh, I know....Oz's reaction was scary!!! The way the flashback was done was great for sure. Oh man, I can imagine there were theories everywhere!!! Salem's original design is so nice for sure!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

YES! I finally get to see your reaction to one of the biggest bomb dropping reveals in RWBY history! Ozpin and Salem's origin story! And boy was it long awaited for me to see you seeing this. If you were wondering who's the big guy that the blond round woman was talking about, it's Hazel. Seems that Hazel came to her and her spider society/organization to get information about our heroic gang on to where they were going next before Cinder did. Also the shadowy figure that was fighting in the opening song near the end is in fact Cinder, just look at the clothes that figure wearing and the one Cinder is currently wearing, but the real question here is who is she fighting though? And Spoiler Alert, Team RWBY and Qrow did not take it very well when they found out about Ozpin's secret. Fun Fact: the round blond woman that Cinder was talking to, her name is Lil' Miss Malachite. Do you remember the two twin girls that Yang fought back in the Yellow Trailer in Pre-Volume 1? Well those two girls are indeed Lil' Miss Malachite daughters! Yes the Volume 6 Blu-ray Director's Commentary confirms that those girls were her daughters, as to what they are doing in Vale instead of Mistral is unknown at the time. As for how humanity returns the second time, even I'm puzzled by that to this day and no one clearly explains as to how it works. But I have many theories on it, one is that it's either some of the Gods residual magic may still remain on Remnant and that remaining magic created the second generation of humanity, or when the God of Darkness destroys the moon, some of its shattered pieces landed on the ground and those shattered pieces may contain some magic in it. Because if you remember back in Volume 1 Chapter 1 where the female narrator (turns out to be Salem herself) saids that mankind was born from dust. So I think that the parts of the landed must have kick some of those Dust to recreate mankind and even created Faunus, but without the Gods actual presences, they can't performed magic the same way as Ozpin and Salem could have and uses Aura and Semblances instead. So I think Magic is actually a stronger and more powerful precursor to Aura and Semblances, think of it like shattered glass, magic is what glass was once was, while Aura and Semblances are the broken pieces and shards of when that glass was broken. Also, you need to rewatch and listen to some of the Volume 2 and 3 soundtracks and songs. Especially Time To Say Goodbye, Sacrifice and Divide. I'll leave the links bellow for you to easily and quickly access these songs. Yes!!! Thanks for clearing that up about Hazel, and for the info about the daughters! It's kind of interesting that they've never explained fully how humanity came back, it adds a lot of mystery. That's an interesting theory! It makes a lot of sense about aura and semblances. Ah, yes, I was actually re-listening to Sacrifice the other day and could appreciate it a lot more! Thanks for the links!
