Hey everyone! I am back today with the start of Nomad of Nowhere! Here's my reaction to episode 5! Whoa, what started as a creepy and surprisingly philosophical ep really got sad when they started killing all of the Nomad's creations/animations!!!! Sheesh!!! He may not know exactly how or why his powers work, but he definitely has feelings for life in general - whether it's life he created or the lives of others. I'm so curious to know more about his magic, but not like this!!! Lol!!! He did the right thing by burying the book, along with his cherished musical friend <3 Poor Nomad!!! I just wanna hug him!!! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

One of my favorite episodes for lots of reasons (one of them being "Medium Stephen"). And Shannon McCormick, whom we usually know as Ozpin, does an excellent job here as the Undertaker.

Yay!!! Hahaha it took me a second to get the medium Stephen joke but it was so worth it! Oh wow no kidding, I thought he sounded familiar!!!! :O

The Nomad's BIG CLAP brought to life LOTS of inanimate objects....the Grandfather Clock, the Table, the Whiskey bottles....but the Nomad refrains from doing harm to the Undertaker....he simply uses his allies to help him overpower and tie-up the Undertaker. All of his magical servants seem imbued with an inherent desire to protect the Nomad.....pin in that for later.

Tyler Stobbe

Man, if you can’t trust the guy who buries the bodies and sounds like Ozpin, who can you trust…? There’s a little bit of a RvB reference in there: “He kept punching himself in the face over and over.” translates from “Tex pulled Jimmy’s skull out of his head and beat him to death with it.” I finally figured it out: what we have here is a game of tag, but in reverse. The Nomad is IT, but he’s trying to avoid everyone else. By the way, Clarence… I thought he was dead on in his scenes. I mean, he seriously killed it. 😉

Manny

That was very disturbing and sad. That undertaker reminded me of Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the lambs or Misery. I was really ready to trust him. Wow! Be weary of strangers or don’t just a book by it’s cover, are some great need to be re-learned lessons here for everyone. I’m glad the Nomad got away. And yes I loved the point you made. Does anyone really give thought to how they can do things. I don’t know if that book will ever come back but I’m glad he hid it; sometimes things are best left unknown.

kamenriderhime

Oh good thought!!! I knew that had happened but didn't quite register that the big clap was what brought them all to life. Hmmm, yes I think even the Undertaker mentioned that they're there to protect him....good thought!

kamenriderhime

Hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhh I did not catch the RvB reference, good one! WOW the reverse tag metaphor makes an alarming amount of sense!!! LOL I see what you did there!!! Also in all seriousness, he was pretty awesome in this :D

kamenriderhime

Right?! I could totally see the comparisons. Very great points about being careful of who you trust / not judging by looks or first impressions. I'm so happy he got away too! And glad you liked the point I made!! Yeah for sure, something tells me there are very few who wouldn't be corrupted by the power in that book!!

2023-01-17 00:45:10 I love this episode and how it starts with you should be able to trust in people but to be careful when it’s a stranger. At 1st you think finally Nomad has found a nice face who will help and the eccentric personality is from being around dead people too much being an Undertaker but unfortunately he has ill intentions. Being imprisoned and having to listen to puns is a nightmare even if the jokes are smart. Even if it’s a bad situation it’s nice that it gave us the opportunity to learn more about the abilities that come naturally to the Nomad. The way this man explores the mechanics and morality of the powers is super interesting even if he is crazy and treats a skull like Wilson the volleyball from Castaway if you have seen that movie. Not being able to bring life to the dead and his creations being made to protect Nomad are explanations that make sense. And his creations do prioritize his life and will sacrifice themselves. You know it’s very strange that he is infamous but doesn’t know why everyone wants to capture him or anything about his powers calls his memory into question I think. Another interesting thing we discover is his creations may be sentient but aren’t very intelligent and don’t really do much without orders or intent from the Nomad. And then he brings up the concept of more magic and its necromancy which is never a good thing. We get to learn the Undertaker is 1 of those classic wants power types of characters and can’t understand why someone wouldn’t want the type of power magic can give you. Unfortunately Nomad’s refusal to help shows us the Undertaker’s violent side which is alarming. Also it’s really sad to see Nomad’s reactions whenever his creations die and who wouldn’t care about these adorable things. And then the tone takes a sharp turn from creepy and alarming to disturbing and terrifying with him about to dissect Nomad. The little bits of comedy are great and I love big Jim. I love that despite their limitations his creations have a lot of ingenuity when they need to help him. Then things get brutal and Nomad gets mad. I think the magic was stronger because the clap was louder and th Nomad was channeling his desire to actually hurt someone so the creations were violent and scary but thankfully he’s not that type of person so he snaps his fingers to stop them before it goes too far and it’s a discovery maybe for him and definitely for us that he can take his creations life away. I don’t know if it is intentional but I think it might be that Nomad uses hand movements as a direct reference to sign language in the real world. I would be paranoid like the undertaker if I didn’t know if these creations could come back to life or not. I am glad Nomad buried the book I think he decided to do it because he thinks necromancy is wrong and that some magic is too dangerous to be in the world. I absolutely love Shannon’s voice acting as the undertaker and I’m glad you appreciate it as well. Thankfully big Jim is still alive unfortunately it means a lot of bounty hunter’s directly on his trail and close by. Great reaction really enjoyable. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and sorry it took me forever to get back to you!!! The Undertaker is such a character and we really get to see a range here, from puns to straight up malevolent. I've never seen Castaway but I know the reference because it's in pop culture so much!!!! Interesting thoughts on the louder claps and more angry intent leading to the creations being the way they were, it really says a lot about his magic! And yeah I think you might be right that there's something he's not remembering. It's like putting together the pieces of a puzzle!!! Thank you so much for all your kind words and support!!!!!!!!!

This is my favorite episode, though honestly I don’t remember a lot besides the end after this point. The dive into how his powers work, the really creepy atmosphere, it’s the complete opposite of the previous episode which I think elevates it further for me.
