Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of episode 19 of the final season of AoT!  WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!  So just to recap, all in one ep, we had a Pieck-Zeke move, Falco undergoing a huge transformation, EREN LOSING HIS HEAD OVER SOME THINGS, and the true intentions between the two brothers revealed....!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So my son was right, Eren WAS planning something!!!  But Zeke had a lot of time to think in there, and it looks like we're the ones who have been double crossed after all.  Dang it!!!!!!!!!  Eren's coming back from this right?!!?!  And what in the heck are we gonna do now?!?!?!  This one had me in utter shock!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

There's one thing you can say about Gabi, she never misses. xD

That growl is your stomach saying this is too much for your brain to handle and wants more food. :D Okay… so I am blaming this episode squarely on you. Your reactions all seem to have a theme: LAST week it was cyborgs. THIS week the common trait is losing their heads, and them being held in their hands. Literally. I was pretty sure Zeke was going to scream even after hearing about Falco. He seems to have adapted the notion of Spock: “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.” I don’t think Sasha’s family drank the wine, the chef (his name’s escaping me, the one who liked Sasha) deliberately kept that away from them if I remember correctly. It’s… been a while. This is funny and horrible at the same time, but is it just me or does Falco’s pure Titan form kind of look like Elmo? When Zeke passed the ball to Eren it was in lieu of a handshake, and Eren dropped it on purpose, because he wasn’t willing to go through with the gesture. I’m thinking along the same lines you are that Eren’s body can be rebuilt in here. I am wondering about the fact that they touched foreheads when Zeke activated the power and if that’s significant or not. Anime Logic makes us come up with some crazy theories. Finally: Has anyone noticed by now that Gabi with a gun is FAR, FAR more deadly than all of the nine of the special Titans put together? I mean, she could’ve ended all of this a lot sooner. 😂

Omg palpitations, heart murmurs and bubble guts. This episode made a wreck out of me. Im always so nervous continue watching 👀 😫 😬

kamenriderhime

LOL it most certainly is - my brain can't handle this level of intensity without copious amounts of food >.< LOL you know what, I am starting to feel like I am somehow attracting these particular themes to me!!! Yeah, you're right about Zeke...but all that backstory about how mistreated he was as a kid, only to come to this....sad and ironic! OHHHH yeah, good thinking, you're right about the chef guy!!! Thanks! LOLOLOL thank you Tyler for the fact that I can NEVER UNSEE ELMO every time I look at pure Titan Falco now!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD Ah yeah, that makes sense about the ball, it was a sincerity (or lack thereof) thing. Hmmm, good question about touching the forehead....I guess we'll see where anime logic takes us!!! OMG I hate to say it but Gabi at the very least seems to be one of the most "efficient" killers on the show and she's not even a Titan!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O

Definitely there are a lot of plot twists in attack on titan, but I think this was the first episode that left me stunned for a bit afterwards, I was just mindlessly scrolling through internet for a bit. For Gabi I definitely felt that she didn't want to kill Eren but felt like she had to, I also feel like this is the first time she takes a major decision without being brainwashed. Yeah during part 1 of season 4 I was doubtful of Eren but I'm back to rooting for him now

kamenriderhime

I agree!!!! There's twists and then there's render-you-speechless lol. I think you're right about Gabi, and if anything this probably carries so much more weight now that she's fully aware of what's really going on. But yeah, it took 3 seconds for us to start rooting for Eren again, right?!?! :P Good stuff haha.

Porco and getting constantly bodied. Name a more iconic duo.

2023-01-17 00:44:55 This episode was amazing there was so much going on. Also while he’s constantly getting destroyed I respect that Porco doing everything he can to slow Eren down. There is just something so much more brutal about Eren hitting for Porco over and over again right where his head is in the jaw Titan that wound is bad and definitely a kill shot I think Eren is just completely done with them trying to stop him. It’s crazy how powerful the anti-Titan cannon since after it blasts off 1 of the attack Titan arms it knocks what I think is a clock tower. I love seeing all the teamwork as well as the strategy of sneaking behind Marley’s forces and it looks like the Paradis forces on horseback are using one group as a distraction while other groups take out soldiers. The shot of Zeke in his Titan is so good because we got to see how devastating his wounds are from the cannon almost since entire back and part of his arm carved out. It’s crazy that while Eren is now struggling he can still fight against Reiner. It’s crazy to see Porco see his brothers memories and I think it actually was because Reiner was touching him while touching Eren who has the founding Titan powers. It’s sad but I love how emotional Porco gets from this knowing just how much his brother loved him. The dark look on Zeke’s face as he gets ready to scream is scary but good. There are a few reasons Eren doesn’t want this 1. He definitely cares about Falco and doesn’t want it to happen to him, 2. The spinal fluid plan was only meant as a threat and not to be used and at this point he doesn’t know his friends and the soldiers who could turn into Titans aren’t in the same place anymore which gives evidence that at least he still cares about his friends. I love Colt’s entire conversation with Zeke it does such a good job of representing a brother’s love, desire to protect and the desperation of the situation. Colt saying kill whoever Zeke wants just spare his brother is good at emphasizing how much more his brother matters compared to everything else. Zeke seemed fond of Falco, was close to Colt since he was going to be his successor and himself cares about his brother so his hesitation here makes sense. It’s pretty obvious but I do love how the title of this episode is not about one but 3 sets of brothers I like how the titles can mean different things. I love how the beast Titan’s face reflects Zeke’s looks of hesitation, shame and resignation. Unfortunately Zeke believes in his plan too much to let this stop him. The scream here looks great but evil and the scene that follows is so powerful. Also it’s so quick but the look of horror and despair on Colt’s face as the scream is happening is amazing studio MAPPA is just so good at animating eyes. Just seeing all these people realize what’s happening as they glow and the music is chilling but the saddest parts are Falco crying, begging his brother to run and him and Gabi reaching for each other and Pixis’s acceptance at least he had one last drink. It’s horrific but the animation of all the transformations is amazing. And then we are right back full-circle to the 1st episode of the entire show with a Titan invasion and the music is the same. There are worse designs for dumb titans but Falco’s is up there with the too long neck, too wide mouth and rather long tongue. It’s heartbreaking & horrifying to see him attack Reiner especially Reiner’s scream. It sucks that Colt wanted to give his brother some final comfort and dies to the transformation when he did not need to but he didn’t know that. Thinking he might have to kill Falco and I’m just like he has enough trauma thank you. Eren pulling off a wrestling/MMA move to get Reiner off him is cool. There have been theories about Falco becoming the armored Titan since we learned about the plan with the wine and him accidentally drinking it and of course Reiner would help him especially thinking the mission was over and already having suicidal thoughts. Gabi just standing there frozen with a blank look and crying is sad but it is yet another parallel between her and Eren having to see a loved one eaten in front of them. And then Porco sacrifices himself by making himself an easier target. I love how this is done it’s such a perfect conclusion for him when he’s a relatively simple character. While knowing he’s better than Reiner is part of it he wanted to do this to save Falco because I believe he saw the warrior candidates as younger siblings and maybe also to honor his brother who wanted to save Reiner. Also for his conclusion I feel like the animators made Porco as handsome as possible for his final moments. Also a strange twist of fate is every jaw Titan we have met saving and sacrificing themselves for Reiner in some way. The way Reiner yells out his name (1st time he used his 1st name by the way) is so sad. Reiner getting pissed and punching Eren is satisfying TBH. It’s so cool to see Eren do something similar to Annie at the end of S1 hardening himself and Reiner’s arm. Also there are a fair amount of memes based on his flip. This is definitely the most life in his eyes during the present. The sense of scale when Reiner tries to grab him is intense. It’s great that you can see Gabi in the background before she shoots Eren and I agree that I think she did this not for revenge but to stop all the madness and death and the solitary tear is from being emotionally devastated and knowing this is a human not a devil. It’s terrible but people call this beyblade Eren LOL. We were all freaking out about this and rightfully so it’s so insane and you know what makes it worse originally being the end of a chapter from what I have heard. Eren dropping the ball is definitely symbolic of not being on board with Zeke. These moments frozen in time I believe are a combination of 2D and 3D are beautiful and haunting. Gabi actually hurts her shoulder and was blown back because of the recoil from the gun a nice realistic detail. Also it’s not that funny but it hits her right in the nose. It’s dark humor but a joke I heard is Zeke’s entire baseball career has been leading up to this moment catching Eren’s head LOL. The journey into the paths is full of wild imagery and trippy and of course there’s more bird symbolism. The key being used as a transition is so cool. Something really cool is that 2 of the people shown in these images are from a bonus high school AU which may or not be canon and if so is the far future of the AOT world with reincarnated characters from the entire show and these 2 are Mikasa or Gothkasa and a cute nerdy Armin. I love the imagery of the coordinate and how it is totally inspired by Yggdrasil the world tree. When Zeke says years have passed its implying that this is a place outside of time and you can see that his hair and nails have grown a lot. I think Eren wasn’t aware for a while because Ymir rebuilt his body after he almost dies completely. Seeing Ymir is so crazy and from her blank eyes and her exhaustion really shows that there is something wrong she probably actually did make a deal with some sort of higher being and this is the cost. I like that Eren is sympathetic toward her having no freedom when he values freedom so much. Although I would not be surprised if there is more going on with her. I love the reveal here with the twist of Eren playing Zeke especially the anger because even if his plan is dangerous I feel like he is still fighting for his friends and is the same person just extremely jaded. And then Zeke pulls a reverse Uno on us all. I love how Zeke was able to figure so much out because he is 1 of the smartest characters in the show and even though it’s bad it’s still impressive. The whole you were only the key thing is so great with the key to the basement and Eren being so important. I took what Zeke says at the end is wanting to convince him to come to his side and not just control him with the founding Titan powers although the very real possibility of that is terrifying. Finally the clash of brothers here is an iconic cliffhanger ending. This episode was a rollercoaster of emotions. Your reaction was incredible and keep up the great work. :-) <3

Ah yes, Porco did his best for sure!!! And seeing everyone strategize is really fun and interesting. Oh good call that Reiner was able to show him the memories because he was also touching Eren. And yeah, seeing that must have been life-changing! Zeke was scary for sure. Good call about the title having so many meanings here in terms of the brothers! Couldn't agree more about the animation in all the instances you mentioned! They are killing it and I truly feel everything they're putting in front of me. Ugh that's so true about the parallels between Gabi and Eren seeing someone they love get eaten, way too ironic. And Reiner thinking he has to kill Falco, sheesh!!! Also Eren's got some sweet moves lol. Whoa that's a great point about jaw titans sacrificing themselves for Reiner, hadn't even thought of that. Nice of the animators to make him super handsome in his final moments lol. Hahha I'd love to see the memes and how far we've come that Reiner punching Eren feels satisfying. Yeah Gabi's motivations were so different from where we started with her for sure. And I had to google beyblade lol I didn't realize that was going around about this scene! Oof I did not see it hit Gabi in the nose, good catch. Also I literally laughed out loud about the baseball/head theory LOL!!!!!! WHOA I did not catch the high school characters!!!! Yeah seeing Ymir and the whole other world was fascinating. I wonder if there is more going on with her! Oh the reveal/twist was so great! It was truly such a rollercoaster!!! Thank you so much for all your kind words, I appreciate it so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^
