Hey everyone!  Here I am with some BONUS STUFF so that we can keep enjoying more Arcane together!!!  DANG!!  Did not expect these videos to be so spot on - it looks like Arcane stayed really faithful to the source material!  LOVED hearing the full version of Enemy, Get Jinxed was so fun and twisted, Warriors was so epic and made me want to see more LoL characters, and Seconds was really fun and impactful!  I knew I'd like these but didn't think they'd be quite THIS good and in the same spirit as the show, you know?  Great stuff!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I cant believe i forgot to recommend the Tales of Runterra series of shorts. Theyre really fun an give you a glimpse at other parts of the world that i think would make a fun reaction

The thing I love about the Jinx video after watching Arcane is just seeing her being happy and free and not constantly tormented, which she is all happy and chaotic in every cinematic she's in. As far as characters go in Arcane there's only 8 from the game that appear in the show but I wont say who to avoid possible spoilers. You are correct the song Warriors is from Imagine Dragons and was for the 2014 season cinematic for League of Legends. Lastly since League is primarily a competitive game you dont get alot of the lore in game just some voice lines from characters but each character has their own lore pages you can read to give you a basic synopsis on who they are. If you are interested in doing the Tales of Runeterra series the playlist is here https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbAFXJC0J5Ga3WxSJHOrkX6OYiixVqFMn . Thanks for another fun reaction!

Zen Reacts

Oh but you can skip the Legends of Runeterra videos in the playlist since those are just trailers for a different game

First of all can we just take a moment to appreciate how epically beautiful all of these videos are! Like even with all the different styles and songs, they are all so amazing! I gotta say while I will probably never play League myself, these cinematics and music videos really really make me want to. (Unrelated: How have I never noticed your framed Penny picture in the back?! I adore that.) Anyways! Enemy; the whole music video is just a series of random clips to give you an idea of how the kids life was like before the show (obvi). It highlights all the thigs the show explores when you think about it; such as how close the sisters were, Powder and Ekko's childhood friendship, and just how much Powder admired her older sister. But also the concept of Powder's fracturing mental stability as well; some of those shots with her screaming at the camera and of Powder banging against the image of Jinx actively putting a spotlight on the identity conflict Powder/Jinx faced in Act 2 of the show. Overall the video was just so so good and wonderful with or without context, but also a little sad with context. (I believe people think Vi was angry at Powder in that one scene because she antagonized the enforcers in a scene before it and that had them get harassed by them. And as we all know Vi at 15 tends to do things without thinking it through all the way and that is only heightened when she's frustrated, angry or scared. So while I dont think that scene is indicative of Vi being a consistent aggressor against Powder, I do think it means that when Vi did tend to get overly angry it stuck with Powder more - especially when it was because of something she might've done or said.) The whole JID part is so sick tho! (This is also one of three versions of the song! The first being the show's actual intro version, this version with JID and then an official solo version with just Imagine Dragons). I'm right there with you tho, something about seeing Powder standing with Jinx really hits home how much things have changed and how much she's gone through. Get Jinxed is basically the best introduction to a character's personality ever! I mean there is a reason she's called the "Loose Canon" in League. Like "it's such pathetic neatness" is such a great tell of her worldview in her troubled psyche. Also! I believe no one knew or cared exactly why Jinx's eyes were purple prior to Arcane, thinking that it's just her character design; I remember a few of my friends who knew League before Arcane were confused why she had blue eyes... and then ya know the shimmer happened. It's also important to note that League Jinx (at least I believe she is) is in her early 20s, so if Arcane is really a prequel of sorts to the League lore than I think we're in for a wild ride for season 2. As much as I don't know how she could spiral even further down, something tells me if this is what she's like here, there's definitely a chance we WILL see that further downward spiral... which I'm not really ready for if I'm being honest. (And by a further downward spiral I mean, like, she isn't just tormented by her demons anymore - which on one hand is a good thing - but is instead JUST chaotic and enjoys causing mayhem and the like... A Loose Canon I suppose you could say). GOSHHHH I love the Warriors 2020 cinematic!! It's so gorgeous! This one I imagined would be a little hard for you considering you wouldn't know quite a few of the featured characters. So I'll give a very basic rundown! The knight and mage girl are Garen and Lux they are siblings, they are from the land of Demacia (a land that has outlawed magic - similarly to how it was outlawed in Piltover in Act 1 of Arcane), during this fight scene they are basically in the midst of a civil war fight with their neighboring land Frelijord. The one Garen is fighting and who is leading this revolt is Sylas - a mage who had been imprisoned for his extremist behaviours and well....for being a mage in general. Lux, before she found out how dangerous Sylas could get, was taught by him on how to use her own magic - magic she hid from her family and her country which is why she doesn't use it till her brother's life is at risk here. (I'll leave that there since I'm sure there are more qualified people to tell you a more accurate facts on Garen, Lux, Sylas and Demacia). That blonde boy is basically Indiana Jones I suppose - his name is Ezreal! He's a piltovan who disliked the glitz and glamor of his home and instead longed for treasure hunting and adventure. The woman who helped him is Kai'sa and she's a void being(?) I don't know that much about her - forgive meeee. AND YESSS! We love seeing Caitlyn (lol yes that's definitely Cait! This time with a Hextech Rifle!) and Vi together outside of Arcane also! They are actually very connected to eachother in AND out of the show. They are known as Piltover's Finest, as they both now work as Sheriff (Caitlyn) and Deputy Enforcer (Vi) - which is really insane when you think about how much Violet dislikes the Enforcers. Although in League they are known as the Wardens... so I wonder how much else is different there. But yes! This was really the first time Arcane watchers have seen just how much of a dynamic duo Cait and Vi are in a combat setting! (Also that big dude that came in at the end is called Galio! He's basically an ancient defender of Demacia, however he needs magic to be 'reanimated' as such and usually needs to be summoned by a strong mage - and one he likes I guess? - so Lux summoned him to help them fight off Sylas and his men). The guy Ekko is fighting in Seconds is definitely the same guy Vi and Cait were fighting in Warriors. The dude's name is Urgot, he's a Noxian (like Mel and her mother), who was an executioner who was betrayed by his people and found himself in a prison deep within Zaun. Eventually he would come out of it and now is a big, terrifying figure in the criminal underworld there, claiming he'll purge Zaun of the unworthy and make Zaun a pillar of pain. Which as we know is something Ekko is actively against! All Ekko has wanted is better for Zaun and the League version of him is no different, so it makes sense to have him pit against one of Zaun's biggest threat to a better and peaceful life. (Similarly to how he was pitted against Silco's enterprise with the Firelights in Arcane). But yes! This was amazing as always! And getting to see some of your reactions to our fav characters in a different context was equally as cool as the videoes themselves! And I hope you don't mind me info dumping haha. Excellent reaction as usual! See you for whatever is next, and I hope you have a great day/night!

OH! And I saw you were considering doing the tales of runeterra vids, if you are I also recommend a few other videos from League's Wild Rift storyline(?). Specifically the music video You Really Got Me and the very (very) short trailer for Jayce and Caitlyn! They have some really cool/nice moments and are just generally really nice to watch. But of course no pressure.

Zen Reacts

Yeah i honestly wouldnt even mind if we got like 2 or 3 more weeks of league cinematics reactions

Hi Hime :) Among all you saw, I mostly knew "Enemy", "Get Jinxed" and "Warrior". For Enemy, I also saw a live performance and Jid managed to do his end rap too, very proud of himself, at the same time, it takes a lot of breath. Warrior, I didn't know Vi and Caitlyn yet at that time, so seeing it again made me happy. Get Jinxed is the one I've seen and heard the most. As I told you at the time, we could already figure out who Jinx was (loves chaos and doesn't like being bored), so seeing her evolve from Powder to Jinx in Arcane was not a surprise for me. I continue to appreciate this song and have a hard time restraining myself from singing it at the same time (it often happens to me while driving).

As others have said I would recommend reacting to a ton of the expanded world cinematics, even those not centered on PIltover and Zaun. In all likelihood other shows or later seasons of Arcane will come out that centers on those other regions. You got brief glimpses of other regions in Arcane, like how Mel's mother is from Noxus.

Kevin

I can recommend the Theme for Vi, and the mashup of both themes for Vi, and Jinx.

I had a feeling you would find it worth the wait to watch ENEMY by Imagine Dragons until after the show and that you would love it. Powder is such a precious, adorable child, it just feels good to see her again...yes, she starts out looking sad, dejected and bored and you just want to hug her tight....but we also get to see her when she was happy with her family & friends, especially her sister & Ekko....the funniest part was Powder & Ekko riding by the Enforcers and flipping them the bird. The "spoiler" is obviously that she becomes Jinx....and the fact that this is a JINX song...."everybody wants to be my enemy" describes how she feels to a T, especially after the finale... This song is definitely already in my iTunes.....in fact you can buy this actual video off iTunes to add to your video library and that's exactly what I did.

I am not a LoL player or expert, so I’ll leave that information for other people. What I CAN put up is that the reason Arcane is matching up with the game cinematically so well is that they’re literally being done by the same people. So the artists are already experts on the concepts they’re transitioning from game into show. Also it should be noted that you’re looking at what in gaming is called cut scenes: in-game cinematic. Actual gameplay footage where you control the character doesn’t look quite that animated. Think of it as when there’s an epic moment in a game story then the creators want to take time to really bring it to life. Anyway, see ya next time. :)

A lot of the comments on Get Jinxed are like: Before Arcane: She seems fun & cool and crazy! After Arcane: Oh God somebody give her a hug!

John J Ronald

I just stumbled on the You Really Got Me video earlier today....where Jinx appears to be friends(?) with the long haired blue eyed blond girl in Warriors 2020...? Yay more happy Jinx, at any rate.

John J Ronald

Honestly one of the coolest music videos I've ever seen out of the League of Legends universe is "Popstars" by K/DA, their in-universe virtual K-Pop band. It's so awesome...you should definitely check it out if you've never seen it. It's quite the banger. Sidebar, have you ever watched Porter Robinson's music video "Shelter"? It's an anime style music video set to his song in English and it tells a small but impactful science fiction story about a girl and her father who loved her and what he was willing to do to save his daughter from an impending disaster with global implications. It makes me cry every time, it's so good. No dialogue, just the song lyrics. Simple pop song but the storytelling of the music video really sells the depth of emotion behind the words. Lastly, there's the classic Linkin Park music video for Breaking The Habit that's done in the style of Japanese anime....oldie now but still a total banger.

John J Ronald

Also, did you put up a poll already about your next show and is The Legend of Vox Machina on it? Keeping my eyes peeled to put in my vote (and keep lobbying for it).....promise you won't be disappointed if you pick it....it's such great action/comedy!

Manny

Imagine Dragons never fail me 🐉

kamenriderhime

Ahh no I did not! I actually am going to make a post asking for recommendations first! Then whatever is recommended most will be on the poll :D I'm hearing great things about Legend of Vox Machina!!!

kamenriderhime

OMG I have seen little clips of those videos, they are AMAZING!!! Would love to watch more of them! I have not seen that video actually! Oooh!!! It sounds really interesting, wow! I'll have to keep it in mind. WHOA!!! Hard to believe that song is an oldie now haha but that video sounds really good!!!!! Thanks for all the info :D

kamenriderhime

Me neither! :D Ohhhh that makes sense! Cut-scenes, thanks for that info!!! Makes sense that actual gameplay probably doesn't look quite that detailed! See you soon!! :D

kamenriderhime

Nice!!! I really wanna see them all!! And good call, never know when they'll show up somewhere down the line!

kamenriderhime

Yeah it was totally worth the wait! Oh I know, she's so adorable and I really do just wanna hug her! And yeah, that makes sense about the spoiler being that she turns into Jinx! AWWWW the contrast in comments lol! Oh dang, gotta go find it on iTunes now!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) WHOA!!! So cool about the live performance! It's like seeing old friends when they show up in Warrior, right? Yeah, makes sense about Jinx, I'm sure fans called it from the beginning! Ahh, singing while driving is such a nice pastime haha, and these songs are perfect for it!

kamenriderhime

Yeah that's true, she seems much more carefree in the video! Nice, they have a long standing relationship with Imagine Dragons huh lol. Thanks so much for the link too!!! I think I definitely wanna react to some more of these!

kamenriderhime

They are GORGEOUS!!! They do such a great job on these!! (Oh why thank you!!!! I'm lucky to have two autographed photos of Pyrrha and Penny that an awesome Patron got for me at a convention!!!) You nailed it with your summation of Enemy - lots of good times, but also really highlighting the fractures in Powder's stability. So cool about the three versions of the song! And ohhhhh thanks for explaining about the argument scene!! Get Jinxed was soooo good!!! Yeah I imagine folks must have been confused about the eyes at first lol. Such a great point that inner conflict can be good if it's pulling you in a direction that's better/healthier for you or making you address something important...but yeah, something tells me Jinx will be more "carefree" after this season, which isn't necessarily good, and isn't something I'm ready for either!!! WHOA, I cannot picture Vi as an enforcer lol!!!! Like if they broke down their entire society and made a new one, then maybe, but I doubt she'd even wanna be called "enforcer". She'd insist on being "Chief Butt-Kicker" or something LOL!!! Oooh thanks for the info on Galio!!! Oh wow, had no idea that was a Noxian! That's interesting that there were so many parallels between Ekko wanting to protect Zaun both in the game and in the show. YAY!!! Thank you so much, I loved these videos and I'm so happy you enjoyed my reactions!!!! Hope you have a great day/night as well!!!!!!!!! ^_^

Sunset

Yeah I can't see Arcane Vi as being an enforcer either (I agree that if Caitlyn was able to reform the enforcers and the system and such, then maybe she could associate herself with them by being an informant or something, or maybe just working with Cait and ONLY Cait. And yes I agree she would definitely want to be called Chief Butt Kicker!!) But it's important to keep in mind that League Vi has almost a completely different lore, in fact League Vi has partial amnesia (at least I believe it's partial), to the point that League Vi barely remembers much of her own childhood and didn't know her actual name and the only reason she calls herself Vi is because of the tattoo that was already on her face. I also believe while League Vi and Jinx are also canonically sisters, League Vi has no memory of Jinx. But yeah the Vi we see in Arcane becoming an Enforcer is very hard to imagine, but who knows how the show will play all of it out. People speculate that she could become one to be like a buffer between the enforcers/wardens and Jinx - because she knows she's the only one that will bring Jinx in without hurting her beyond necessary and she'd honestly want to be the one to do it anyways. It's honestly so wild to think how one character can have two different lores that sort of connect to eachother but don't at the same time... but yes these things definitely highlight how different Arcane's lore is to League's own initial lore.

kamenriderhime

Hahah glad you agree! And that's interesting about League Vi, wow! Whoa, it's also hard to imagine Vi not having any memory of her childhood or of Jinx/Powder....!!! Wonder if that will come into play at some point? I could definitely see her being a buffer, almost in the way Vander was, but more specifically focused on Jinx. Isn't it great to see how different the stories can be depending on who is telling them and how?! So fun!!!!!!! Thanks for the info :D

John J Ronald

Very belated comment but I just got back home from SakuraCon 2022....while I was there I spotted a Jinx cosplayer who graciously posed for me when I asked her to: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cco1ws7My8I/

It was a blast! My first time ever in the PNW. Got to meet legendary anime voice actors Steven Blum (Spike Spiegel, Cowboy Bebop) and Wendee Lee (Faye Valentine, Cowboy Bebop)...enjoyed some of the AMV screenings and also the Crunchyroll & Aniplex industry panels.
